The bindweed was climbing on some of my catnip which I actually like and has a lot of uses. Check out this video all about catnip and some of its edible and medicinal uses. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6iXpWxpa5iKrMU

I use the flowers to make dye, the purple and pink ones tend to be pretty colourful, and if you dry them and crush them they can make a more potent pigment. Thats the reason i keep them, in their own contained garden bed, though.

They are also quick to form powdery mildew and transfer it to the plants in my garden. I agree: it’s a jerk plant!

I have a version with pink flowers going crazy in an area of our yard we previously only had grass and weeds, so I'm cool with them taking over that section. I think it's too hot or not shaded enough for them to spread much beyond that area anyway.

Bindweed pulling is a constant job in the food forest here. Wood chip mulch at least makes it easy to get a good portion of root out.

In Asia we eat a green leafy plant called morning glory and prepare it just like spinach. Same plant? I have also heard that morning glory seeds are hallucinogenic

Ive read that it is possibly edible. The flowers may be edible in moderation and they are tasty to me. Although It may kill me and so i am very cautious.

Well, it's only a weed if you don't want it. I think there are lots of very nice morning glory plants that make beautiful flowers. For me, I don't want them climbing on my raspberries and hazelnuts and stuff, so they're a weed for me.

It's so fun to see this plant annoying you.😅I am from europe. This plant is actually edible and it has many benefits: it's anti-inflammatory, it helps with constipation, with cuts and bruises. You can make tinctures with it and teas.

We bought our house 5 1/2 years ago. Infestation of this weed from hell started last summer. I am a full-time caregiver to my husband who is blind and has heart failure and dementia. I don’t have time to be pulling up this horrible weed all spring and summer. Our house is a nursing home. I am administration, dietary, purchasing, physical therapy, social activities, laundry, housekeeping. I’m about to lose my mind.
