I did broadcasting for 21 years and hold several awards for production but over the last few years and upon my eventual exit from terrestrial broadcasting for many reasons I had a genuine disdain for corporate radio and still do. However doing production I always kept these things you mention here in my approach and seeing this particular video makes me feel reinvigorated and wanting to get a home studio up and running something I always wanted to do. Thank you for that Bill, this proves I had the proper approach and technique all along.

That was fantastic Bill! I had a read this week that was a tour of an old library on a college campus that had been demolished to build a bigger library. As I got into the script I began to feel nostalgic toward the scenes and rooms in the old library that those listening to this read would be reminded of. That nostalgia made the read... :-)

You know what is crazy Bill? I was thinking the same thing about my voice overs. I'm finally getting my equipment and starting to record some demos. When you had mentioned it in a previous video, I adopted that thought pattern. Bill, your voice sounds amazing in all the examples. Seriously, you're an expert and it's the reason that I keep coming back!

Great advice Bill on how to deliver a spot by adding the third dimension: Emotion! Anyone can call themselves a voice over talent, but you've just nailed what separates the Top percentile from the rest...and the new tech is making it easier for more people to enter our field. It's so important to understand the words written in front of you and connect on a human level, no matter what you're reading. This was something I learned back in the 80's and terrific to hear it from you again today.

Hey Bill. As voice over artist I really appreciate these videos for the little mistakes they make me realize I make. I'm currently working a small job voice acting for a game developer while I finish collage but I plan on making VO work my full time job. I studied with Kalmenson & Kalmenson a number of years ago; really some of the top voice over training available anywhere at any price (at least at that time). The advice is almost spot-on identical to what they taught, not just in their advanced demo classes, but as the basis for approaching any read. Excellent, Sir, and at a much lower cost (but, if you're in LA and can afford it, K & K is worth your dime). Thank you.

Hi Bill. Not sure where to request a video, but thought your most recent video might be a good place for it. I'd really love if you could make a video helping me with this question / topic. I've been doing voice overs for a little over a year now. I feel I'm doing pretty well for myself and have been improving with each project I do. BUT, I think my #1 issue is with any long form narration, which I get a lot of work / requests for. My problem is, during the course of recording, I'll generally start off sounding with the tone I feel fits the script, record a few sentences, and then I'll make a mistake (often mispronunciation, stumble over words). And then I'll continue on, do another stumble, reread, mistake, so on and so forth. I begin to lose the tone of voice I want, and make so many mistakes that I end up taking 30 minutes to record a 10 minute narration, and all those retakes make the recording sound unnatural. I can't quite target how to ask this question, but I've realized this has been holding me back from being productive for a long time now and I really need to solve this. Would very much appreciate a response from you Bill! Love your work, Thanks, Andrew

I want more info on the dementions of voice over and you got that voice that makes you a natural at this stuff I don't have that voice. I am a survivor of throat cancer just now getting my voice in check for singing and my mobile dj work.
