The battle of the Alamo was fought by Mexicans against invading white slave owners, who were hoping to add another slave state to the union during western expansion. It was a classic battle between good and evil, and evil won. Texans would join the confederacy in 1861 and even attempt to march to California. They were defeated at Glorietta pass in 1862 and their dream of a slave empire was ended.

@@TheHeartMadeOfStone Manny, what makes people uncomfortable with you (and I'm sure I'm not the first person to tell you this) is your smugness, your arrogance, your holier-than-thou attitude, your know-it-all "wokeness". Why don't you tone it down a little and not be so high-and-mighty. But that's hard for you to do, isn't it. Your ego is so infatuated with your "discovery" of slavery that you just can't stay quiet, can you. You just have to shout to the rooftops that you have all the answers, all the insight, all the solutions. Your kind use a 2X4 when a conductor's baton would be more effective and long lasting.

Maybe you don’t know, but Santa Anna was actually a tyrant. He literally termed himself “the Napoleon of the West”, so take from that what you will. He threw out the Constitution of 1824 which was enacted after Mexico won independence from Spain under Presidente Guadalupe Victoria. Slavery abolition wasn’t added until 1929 under Presidente Vicente Guerrero. Santa Anna himself overthrew the government to create a dictatorship, thus usurping power. Texas was one of three Mexican provinces that held an uprising against him, Texas is just the only one that won. I don’t know if you grew up in Texas or not, but I did and we learned about the native people and the total history of the Alamo in Texas History. The problem is 99.9% of the people who know about the Alamo nobody popular culture, which doesn’t teach the origins.

Guy talking about how we should forget the Alamo and how it’s about slaves is not even telling the full story. Texas declared independence after the Mexican dictator who overthrew the Mexican republic came into Texas and started cracking down on the Texans. It’s sad to see people try to misrepresent history.

I mean you are honestly not wrong, Santa Anna was a dictator but you know… one fo the laws he was forcing Texans to abide by was… to free their slaves. Mexico had abolished slavery years before the Alamo, the new settlers came in with their slaves and that was a big no no for the Mexican republic.

At this point Santa Anna wasn't even a dictator and had been elected to the presidency in a landslide, it was his centralised constitution, that banned slavery, that caused the Texans to secede

okay in less than a minute they do not talk about the dictator Santa Anna. if it wasn't for him Texas might have remained part of mexico. i suggest Texas secede from the union and annex mexico. Texico will be the greatest nation on the planet! God bless our Alamo heroes! Amen.
