The American Indians used to survive the entire winter on pemmican. Which was simply a 50/50 mixture of dried bison and bison tallow. Protein and fat. There was no scurvy because the bison were totally grass fed and provided all the vitamins, minerals, and essential fatty acids that we need. Todays beef wouldn’t be as good because they are grain fed. But you are totally correct. Great video.

Sometimes they put a small amount of Saskatoon berries. But only like 5%. Later other things were added to improve the flavor more for the white man. You can get as creative as you like. But pemmican makes a great trail/camping food. Oh one more thing. You can look up a document called "the pemmican manual" . It will give you the actuall recipe and some good history.

One point to add about vitamin supplements; 3 things your vitamins should NOT contain; Titanium dioxide Magnesium stearate Microcrystalline cellulose I checked my centrum silver men 50+ vitamins and they have all 3 so centrum is not a good brand. Also, don't take vitamins derived from synthetic sources. Key points to look for: Chemical names: If the label only lists the chemical name of a vitamin (like "ascorbic acid" for vitamin C), it's likely synthetic. "dl" prefix: Ingredients with a "dl" prefix before the vitamin name usually indicate a synthetic form. Suffixes like "ate" and "ide": Words ending in "ate" or "ide" often signify a synthetic vitamin. No food source listed: If the label doesn't mention natural food sources where the vitamin is derived from, it's likely synthetic. Example: Natural Vitamin C: Listed as "Acerola cherry extract" Synthetic Vitamin C: Listed as "Ascorbic acid"

@janp7660 Hi! Meyer lemon trees don't get very tall...maybe 4 feet, same with the limes and a dwarf pomegranate. Each is in a large planter that goes outside in the spring as soon as temperatures are above 40 degrees at night (or I cover them up with blankets!). I bring them inside before the temperatures are below 40 in the fall. They usually get pollinated from being outside. Sometimes they bloom more when I bring them in, so I take a Q-tip or small paintbrush and hand pollinate them. If you buy small trees, it could take 3 or 4 years before you get fruit. My dwarf orange grew 34 cutie oranges, the lemon currently has 11 growing and the pomegranate only has 4, but it's the first year for it. A grow light would help, but mine are all just in the living room window. Good luck!

I try to make sure we keep it mixed up. I think its healthier for us as seniors. If I make a dish and there is leftovers, I skip a day before reserving. I'm type 2 diabetic and have other issues. My hubby just likes food! Lol. But, he keeps a lot of sardines and canned oysters on hand if he needs a snack. We garden, so have a good variety of veggies. @ricgray9986 Sorry but I disagree with you. My people have been living off corn for centuries and generations. Corn is good for antioxidants and probiotics. It also has iron and B vitamins. Tortillas, soups, cereals and all the way down to the husks that we use to make tamales. Do I agree that it's not the most BEST food? yes I agree. Is it good food for survival and to grow for food easily? Yes absolutely. It has its benefits for survival food as well. I wholeheartedly believed in the "Three sisters" gardening techniques. And so did thousands and millions of natives throughout history.

hamburger has 50% more callries per lb than salmon (which has 900 calories per lb) Other fish have even less calories per lb, because they have no fat. You can do this with 4000 calorie pe lb coconut oil and 2500 calorie per lb nut butters (kept frozen until DDay) grains, and powdered milk (scatter-buried at your BOL, along with Koolaid, sugar, salt and vinegar. When shtf, at night, load 100 lbs of the short term foods, baking soda, and honey on a mountain bicycle and walk beside it. Behind it, on a trailer, tow the water, seeds, spices, meds, food supplements. 30 lbs of combat and survival gear on your back. Amazon sells solid rubber bicycle tires and a spring clamp for mounting your silenced autorifle across the handle bars. You can have it in your hands as fast as you can step clear of the bike. Wally's sells a 7 cu ft chest freezer for $200. It costs about $1000 per adult male for a year's food. You can stretch that food a bit, maybe 20%, with tree cambium. You have to buy the grains directly from the farmers, at harvest seasson, to get them that cheap, tho. The granaries put poisons on the grain to protect it from rodents and insects, but you CAN wash it off, using baking soda. Best to get grains right off of a farmers truck tho, Bring a scoop shovel and lots of sacks

This is great Eric👍🏻 With regards to vitamin C, a pine needle tea has as much vitamin C as eating 3 lemons. Two things though people first. 1: if you do not know your tree’s, only use needles that are rounded, this is because of the Yew tree which is deadly. The Yew tree has flat needles, so if you are unsure, only use rounded needles. 2: when you are making your tea, steep the needles in hot water but not boiling water. This is because if you use boiling water it will destroy the vitamin C you were after. Bonus 3: lots and lots of sardines 😂
