Well I just found out I'm diabetic so I'm kind of freaked out about that and a lot of other things I have for prepping. I won't be able to eat now I do shop at Walmart almost everyday. One for business and one for our family and I have bought a lot of the deals you mentioned.

I believe new Zealand palm corned beef is one of best prepping meats you can buy it has meat you can eat it without heating or mix it also it has fat which you will really need when things turn really bad also tinned tuna and tinned meat like beef before chicken I believe there is more value in beef than chicken in a shtf situation

I went to the food bank today. Haven't been in over 2 years. It was pathetic. I was refused a turkey because I wasn't a "regular"??????????????? One box of potatoes, one bag of rice, one can of beans, one can of soup, one can of fruit, one can of pasta, one can of peas, one loaf of bread, decaf coffee and creamer for two people one 67 and one my son, 38. No hygiene bags anymore. One tiny can of tuna. We did get peanutbutter and jelly. We are expected to survive on this??? Thank the Lord I have been prepping for a while. I cannot afford meat and I'm not allowed to go back until January 6 of 2025.

I would have concentrated on Omega-3 food sources NOT MEAT. In a prepper, emergency event, salmon and makerel (even canned) may not be available plus many people prefer a vegetarian diet. Walnuts, flax seeds and chia seeds are good, but what about wheat germ, pumpkin seeds and kale? Just sayin...oh, and Canola oil is high in Omega-3 fatty acids.

The dumpster behind Sak'n Sav has freebies. Got two bananas that had only 50% mush and what appeared to be a hamburger patty. Also found a tuna fish sandwich from the deli but had to fight a cat for it.

This week in Trenton, GA at the Ingles they had pre-brined, antibiotic free turkey for 47 cents a lb! You had to spend $35 to get that price, but that was easy to do as they had Campbells Chunky soups for 98 cents each. I stocked up!

Turkey is also good for throwing into the food dryer - making Turkey Jerky, then sealing it up. Dense high protein snack, which is also lightweight in case one needs to bug out. Travel light...stay well y'all!

I have opened cans of cream of mushroom soup, it did not look or smell like mushroom soup they were watery and just looked awful. The cans were 2 months out of date, no dents kept in a dark cool cupboard and I don't let my can foods go more then 1 year and cream soups now I buy 4 a year and use them up before the best buy date.

May survive but definitely not thrive 😂 Food wise...Beef and egg's are all you NEED...no 2nd rate proteins. Beef is the one and only superfood , fact.

If you're in a warm state, the south or west, get your sweet potatoes now, so come Feb you can start growing the slips to plant in the spring.🥔🌱(Buy organic for planting, is better, but not necessary)

A quick easy way to get lemons to last longer is to quarter them lengthwise, stuff them in a jar, and pack what little open space that is left with salt. After a couple of days the salt will draw out the lemon juice and the lemons will reduce in size, opening up some space. Just fill this space with more lemons and salt if you have them. They won't last forever, but I've done this in the summer and used them well into the spring. It's a method I learned in Morocco, so if your looking at a Moroccan recipe and it calls for "preserved lemon" this is what it's talking about.

I wrestle with myself on things like pumpkin - so, it's easy to grow, and I save the seed-goop in freezer bags to dole out to the chickens during the winter. I have about 20 of my best pie-pumpkins saved up, but haven't had time to make pumpkin butter or a pie, yet. It's the time versus money issue! So, I actually bought store-bought pumpkin last week, on sale. And one of our stores actually says on the can: 100-percent pumpkin. Many places put in butternut squash, etc. Which is fine, you can't really tell, but the can says 'pumpkin' despite the winter squash. Anyway, time versus money. My pantry smells like pumpkins, LOL. Maybe I'll get that pumpkin butter made, maybe not. Also, I've made 'apple crisp' with pieces of butternut or other squash in it as well - very tasty, and boosts the nutrition. I stocked up on turkey, having purposefully played freezer Tetris and eaten 'large' other things in there. Turkey isn't just for holidays. It's an easy enough meal with just roasted turkey, mashed potatoes and a vegetable. And lots of things to do with leftovers. I also stock up during the holidays on cheese, crackers, and other things people buy for parties. Cheese freezes perfectly well, it just doesn't slice cleanly anymore. It's isn't rubber, it falls apart in chunks and tastes just dandy. Excuse me, I have to go make some macaroni and cheese now.....

I would modify that to "before tomorrow" as in today. Any one waiting to December, may end up with zero food. I'm paranoid since dad and us were stationed in Germany, while the Berlin Wall was being built and young teens, including me, had to attended what we called military breafings for kids. As in us, in case war broke while we were away at school. Bet that 99.99% of people didn't know that.

Interesting but I am not quite there. In Norway, where I live, the government tells pregnant women to NOT eat any salmon and to reduce consumption of fish in general because of all the pollutants in the flesh. This is true for farmed and wild fish. That's a big deal in a country which is big on fish. Also - we need some fruit and/or veg to combat things like scurvy. Yes that is a thing and not just for sailors hundreds of years ago. So I think we need more than three things to survive.

I put a little money back each month just for the food sales in Nov. & Dec. I take advantage of all the sales and buy enough to last me till the sales next year. I'm a widow. I know what I eat and how much I eat and buy accordingly. Like I get 24 cans of pumpkin. I use it all year for bread, muffins, waffles, pie and soup. 24 cans of whole berry cranberry sauce-I use it for baking and love it mixed with pineapple, oranges or applesauce in the heat of summer. Spices are on sale now too. Turkey is $.59lb. I buy 3 turkeys each year. Gives me so many meals! I buy all my baking supplies now too. 🇺🇸🦃🍁

👍 Just picked up 2 cases of Sweet Butter from Costco. This equates to 72 lbs of delicious butter. By keeping it in my chest freezer, and wrapping it with additional brown paper, I can honestly say that 4 years later, it tastes great.
