i gave up college, my apartment, and job to move in and take care of my uncle and when he died his “estranged” wife changed the locks while i was still living there (using quotations she was around a LOT and helped while he was alive, we were honestly close they just hadn’t been together in years)

In the UK I have seen newspaper notices by exasperated people saying they will no longer honour debts, loans, or anything else associated with their family member. They state the name of that individual and therefore have valid proof that they have not participated in any financial backing that the named individual says their family have agreed to

Uncle stole two-thirds of my inheritance of my dying grandfather. Used power of attorney to sell the house that was supposed to go to my mom. Didn't clean out house or paid bills during the sale causing food to rot and smell in the fridge/freezer, and new owners nor my mom or I could sue him because he took the money up front and fled the state and therefore out if jurisdiction. We can only go after him if he returns to Missouri, which will never happen. Caused new owners to sue us via association, as mom and I are the only family that lives in Missouri (uncle lived in Oklahoma where he fled to), for the poor condition of the house they bought. Luckily that lawsuit went nowhere as we were not to blame, but we still had to pay for lawyer and court fees over it for what my uncle did

Story #7 is actually quite close to what happened to my dad. Back in 2020-21 my dad's car stopped working and he needed a new car on the cheap so he bought an Alpha Romeo off of someone online for something like £400+ and at the time we left the car was running perfectly fine, we even had it checked by an MOT place the dealer suggested (which should have been the first red flag) but within the next two weeks the car was running worse and worse and it got taken to the garage multiple times until it just broke down completely and never ran again we tried to take them to court for selling us a car that we were mislead to believe was in better condition than it but sadly we couldn't because not only was there no paper work relating to the car other than the faked MOT but we didn't even know the guys name. That completely swindled us and I will never forgive him for it. Also to make things more suspicious the place where he was set up closed up shop and he had left.

Should’ve called police for the fraudulent document. Forging an official document is a felony where I live. I always meet in public and/or record the transaction if they won’t provide an official bill of sale or title transfer.

I've got one for you my boyfriend is 5 years left me for my stepdaughter. On top of that they told me on my birthday. And he had the nerve to buy her presents on my birthday and she sure did brag about it. Then they both have nerves to get mad at me because I didn't react to it like they wanted me to.

Manager was leaving. I had been the assistant manager, but not of paper, for four years. Had been there for 11 years. I started training the new supervisor. A week before the old manager left, I arrived into work to find the guy I had trained was now the new manager and I had been demoted. The new manager admitted it was fucked up but did nothing to correct it. I couldn't quit because my hometown at the time had 30% unemployment so had no choice but to stay for another 4 years at the bottom working days a week at minimum wage. Finally left after a nervous breakdown with a plan to hang myself from the tree behind the building. Thankfully, I was headhunted by my current employer. Been here 7 years now and have refused every promotion or training courses out of fear that history will repeat itself. And its working.

I had went to college and gotten grants from Federal Aid and about two years after, I had been on food stamps, The entire time my mother was claiming that I owed her all of the money that was given to me by the government, Including food stamps that I had gotten earlier this year. She likely proceeds to use my card for her purchases since they never gave me my food stamp card back or any of my items after my own mother attacked and assaulted me while she was drunk and kicked me out of the house for pressing charges against her, Lost all of the items and belongings I had for 21 years up till that point.

Brother and also roommate and I fought over bills he refused to pay because he accused me of hacking/stealing from him. Not. Jailed on Christmas. Restraining order. Motel for 2 weeks. Broke R.O. by visiting neighbor and Brother heard my voice is all and back to the Hoosecow for 2+ months. On release Cops (lost?) all my stuff but my wallet, so I left in someone else's clothes with jail klogs and Homeless. Lost Literally everything.
