Thanks guys! FYI…It costs roughly $800 to ship a golf cart from Minnesota to Florida in an enclosed trailer, less if it’s on one of those vehicles where the cart is exposed to the elements. And I’m not one of the rich folks, but when we were kids we got Charles Chips (and pretzels) delivered every week. There were 4 of us kids…lol 😂

My dad had a friend who worked for Charles Chips. Whenever he came over, he would bring a big can of hard pretzels. He was our favorite friend of my father's. He would also bring the best Boston cream pie I've ever had. He was a big guy. My father nicknamed him Tiny. Great memories

We have been very pleased with our purchase of both a new and rebuilt golf cart from The Villages. There service has been excellent and when we had issues with the carts they got the up and going quickly also they provide a free loaner cart while a cart is being serviced or repaired. We have the Pro Florida SunPass/EzPass that we have both cars registered and we move the transponder as needed we also have just the Florida SunPass only transponder. We think our fridge water filter works for us, my wife and I grew up with Sulfer water so most water taste fine to us.😊

I had an Epass from Florida and a IZoom for Indiana since I lived near the Toll Rd in northern Indiana. I got rid of them and got an UNI which is from the Central Florida Expressway. I can use it in 19 states. And it does not have a monthly fee like the one from Indiana did. Gets me wherever I go. Have a great week!

We had Charles Chips come to our house. We called them Charlie Chips. We loved them as kids, and always looked forward to his visit. Best chips, pretzels and butter candies ever! We had our Hawkins golf cart parade Sunday night. We had over 115 golf carts participating. It was so much fun! We just love The Villages❤ We just celebrated our 1 1/2 years here! Woo hoo! 🎉

Re Tolls ... speaking as your local FL SunPass expert (LoL) ... you do NOT need a transponder, even if just a visitor. The "Toll by Plate" program will take a picture of your plate - find your address via your state DMV - and then they will mail you an invoice (monthly). Each month you use a toll-way at least once, you will pay a $2.50 admin fee if not registered on the SunPass site. If you do become a resident - you still do NOT need a transponder - if you register your plate on the SunPass web site (they also work with EZ-Pass) - they will just use that to bill you each pass thru by detecting your plate (can have multiple cars, same pricing as with a transponder, no admin fee). So, they make it very easy.

Re "designing your own home" ... we recently came down for a lifestyle visit and our mission is to buy a corner lot and build on it. Your comment that the "design your own" is FLUID is spot on. The rules have tightened in last six months because there arose a problem that closings were elongated because of the customizations (supply chain, slower builds, etc.). With The Villages construction basically being a "house factory" ... they need predictable processes with little variation. So, the design process is now very limited and the design timeline has shrunk from a week to only a few days. I suspect that with the housing market elongating due to Fed Rate increases, if sales of new construction slows in The Villages that may change again. BUT ... because much of new home sales in the VLS is CASH DEALS ... interest rates are much less impacting to VLS sales in the Villages.

Our CVS takes expired of unused prescription medicines. I loved Charles Chips as a kid, we would get a large can delivered (one of twelve kids) every now and them. I had a craving for them a few months back and found them online. They didn't taste like I remembered but maybe it was my taste that changed.

Too late for me with the water softening system for my whole house to the tune of 6K. They approached me around 6 months after I moved in and convinced me that I needed it. I then discovered that while softened water tastes good, it is not good to drink because of the salt used in it. So I'm buying bottled water to drink and use the softened water for everything else. In other words this water is good for the house because it prevents mineral/calcium buildup in the pipes but not good for consumption inside the human body! 🙄 They also included a lifetime supply of soaps eg: dishwashing, laundry, shower, general cleaning and bars of soap. Hey Jerry and Linda, do you want a jug of dishwashing soap? 🤣🤣Thanks for the laughs Giz!

Our local newspaper, Duluth News Tribune, costs $162 yr printed or digital. It’s printed twice per week on Wednesday and Saturday. When I lived in Detroit area I received the Detroit Free Press for just that, free every day 7 days per week and it was at least 2 inches thick. My mother loved it. She said she didn’t need a television because the newspaper was the only entertainment she needed.

I read about several property owners with rock mulch being told that they would have to remove the stone and replace it with sod. Someone submitted a complaint that affected several owners within the same neighborhood. This should be a warning to someone buying a preowned home that has existing features that may not be in compliance with the Villages standards. The new owners could face an expensive bill to remove something that was installed without approval from the architect review board.

I have been in the villages one year, December 17th. My home came with the NOVA water system. I believe It depends on where you live. The water still tastes bad. I hate contributing to the plastic bottled water world. I am frustrated that I have to purchase gallons of water for drinking. The company has changed the filters. The supervisor has even tried it. All I got was. They wouldn't drink it either.😕

You may want to consider a lifestyle stay. You can spend 4 to 7 nights in a Courtyard villa. They are nicely appointed with golf cart, bicycles, and you'll probably get movie tickets, show passes, and entrance to all the amenities such as the golf driving range, clubs etc. It's a really good way to find out what The Villages is all about. Just contact a Villages sales center for information. It's more during the Winter, and cheaper from May to December.

I have a new home in DeLuna and one of the first things I did was get a water treatment system. And I went through Nova also because I had seen videos of people who got ripped off. It was just under $700 for the three stage system in the garage. But I also got a reverse osmosis system for my sink mostly to take out things like medications and other things that aren't taken out by normal systems. Not Everyone likes the taste of the reverse osmosis water because it is flat tasting because all the minerals are stripped. I have two faucets at my sink one for washing and one for drinking. That system was also just under $700. But it was well worth it to me. I also got a new fancy golf cart from The Villages golf cart store and they are great. I have a store that's local to me that I bought from and they actually delivered my golf cart to me. I got an electric one because the gas one rode too rough for me and the electric is very smooth. I just keep it plugged in the garage. It's pretty fancy. But not for everyone. Thanks guys!
