I honestly think you should consider changing the art style. Why strive for realistic lighting in such cartoonist looking game? And the amount of bloom is eye-wateringly awful. The previous game's artstyle is clean, barely any effect, very easy to see what you need. Please adjust the awful bloom effect and soft shadow, you'll make your game run faster and look better at the same time

@@charlie7mason Their stated reason is that it took time to develop those features and since cs2 is a brand new game they have to completely remake all those features again, including the time... @@Lithane97 Considering the shift in engine tech is substantial enough that I can see it requiring to be rebuilt from scratch and taking more time. What doesn't sit right with me is why they couldn't just wait or delay to finish those features before release. Best case, they thought early access would let them get live feedback on the game development and features from actual players. Worst case, they intend to nickel and dime us with DLCs again, over features that should have been present in a sequel from the get-go because there would be no point to a sequel otherwise.
@DrEnzyme9 ай бұрын
@@Lithane97 I'm a game dev and although there are things I won't defend about CS2, it does indeed take time to remake features between different games. That's why the Sims always has a Pets pack come out after the initial release despite them already having made a pets pack in each of the previous games. Sometimes you need to remake assets because the engine has changed or your old graphics are out of date. Often you'll need to reconfigure data because the methodology behind your engine has changed or an old data format has been deprecated. You'll probably need to recode features because those systems weren't in the new game at launch. It is a decent amount of work. Of course the other reason EA creates a pet pack with each release of The Sims is because they know they can essentially sell you the same thing again in the shiny new engine, so there's definitely a business aspect to it. A game like Rimworld will instead focus solely on one version of itself and include updates every so often, slowly building a massive game up over many years. That doesn't make as much money as dropping a sequel though, so you don't see big companies do it very often (F2P games being the exception).

I really would love to be more confident in this game and it's development but it really is hindered by the fact that Prison Architect 1 was left in absolute shambles for years. It was left with hundreds of bugs, added tons of cashgrab DLCs that mostly just did some simple re texturing, consequently making 90% of it's workshop mods consistently outdated and broken. The game had so much charm and potential but it was corroded by profits. Please don't let this game meet the same fate.

Would like to hear more about how this experience system will work. I really like the idea of there being some level of progression that is tied to what you are doing -- instead of just getting your admin staff to grind out the research in PA1. Separately, I think the developers could get a lot of goodwill from jaded PA1 fans if they made clear what their approach to DLCs will be -- maybe a guarantee that there won't be any for some period of time after release? Or that core features will continue to get expanded on as DLCs come out? Would be a shame if, for example, the base game doesn't release with an expected core feature (I think people would view gangs as one such feature), and then a few months after release a full-price Gangs DLC comes out which sees no extension of the base game. By all means have a DLC introduce exclusive content, but I think a lot of potential players are (rightfully) concerned after the track record of PA1 final years.

The difference between these and the dev logs from the first game is really interesting. The logs really highlighted the differences between the rehabilitative and punitive forms of justice and could be quite sombre at times. They were never overtly political, but I distinctly remember how serious the video was where they introduced the death row system. Despite the art-style you could tell Introversion had thought very deeply about the game and the subject matter. I'm not saying PA2 doesn't do that, and I'm interested to see what direction it heads in once it starts stepping out of the first game's shadow. Are we going to be stepping back into the real world where things are serious but reflect the kind of systems we have in place, or are we going to see more lighthearted stuff like the zombies dlc?

I really hope it doesn't have the same issues as CSII like performance. 😭 3 things I would love in this game❤: 1. Multiplayer!!!!!! I think it could be quite doable like designing a working prison together, for ex. 1 player designs the kitchen whilst the other designs the canteen. Sharing different jobs etc I would love that as I'm not that into singleplayer 2. Smooth Animations and kind little things to make the guards/prisoners more alive like in Palworld the pals :) 3. Fun Achievements to run for like in EuIV/civ6 etc. Creating some kind of replayability. I found myself often in PAI where I started 1 prison, learned/tested the game then started a second one. That one went well till I expanded that much that I lost interest. Played some escape mode and then abonded thd game for a couple years to play again. Offering some replayability with achievements, different maps, different !!!chiefs with goals!!! would do a lot for me personally. Like having some aims to shoot for in every run
