Minor persistent chest pain that feels like heart burn. It could be a silent myocardial infarction; a slow heart attack.
@beanreview580311 ай бұрын
Wait, this happens to me a lot like at least once a day I get this terrible chest pain where I literally have to grab my chest and just grown that’s all I can do just stand there. Do you think I should get it checked out and WebMD just keeps telling me I’m going to be dead by morning.
@tarrantwolf11 ай бұрын
@beanreview5803 you should probably get that checked, yeah. It could be intermittent blockage of a blood vessel around your heart. If it is and becomes fully blocked, part of your heart could die, that would be a full fledged heart attack. Mine was, fortunately, a blockage in the smallest possible vein on the backside of my heart so it didn't do any permanent damage but a friend of mine had about 20% of his heart die from a full fledged heart attack.

At the beginning of 2024, I was having mild chest pain, and elevated heart rate. I was still coherent and alert, so i got myself to the ER, where they checked me out and did the blood work. Everything came back fine, and it seems i had a panic attack. I had never felt anything like that before so of course, I automatically thought the worst. Even though i was ok, i followed up with my physician and found my cholesterol was a bit high and my BP was in the high normal, so I’ve made a lot of changes, to improve my health. Tooth infections can be deadly. Forget losing your tooth, you could lose your jaw or your heart. My dad got tooth infection as a young man and he let it go, it was a time when that was pretty common, and the infection got into his blood. It attacked his heart and kidneys. After they removed all his teeth and part of his jaw, he grew up with false teeth. But the problem wasn’t over. The infection had weakened his heart and destroyed his kidney function. Together with diabetes this meant he spent the last few years of his life on dialysis. Because of his teeth.

My mom was bitten by our cat after trying to separate a fight with a stray, I told her to wash it out and get checked by a doctor. She didn’t as she’s “gotten bit by him before and I’ve been fine” went to sleep and woke up at 12 in immense pain. Whole finger swelled, partly spreading to adjacent ones, and red line appeared past her elbow, in just about 6 hours. Had she waited until morning she probably would have been in the er for weeks instead of just a few days. Long story short blood poisoning is very quick and always disinfect wounds

Dehydration while hiking in the summer is a big issue. I once hiked in the Austrian mountains in July on a very sunny and hot day. There were two water sources marked on our map. But when we got there the water was warm and stale and not drinkable. I brought 8 liters of water with me and at the end of the tour I was so heavily dehydrated I hadn't left any saliver in my mouth, couldn't swallow or speak anymore, hallucinated and had a very high temperature. The last 2 km were pure torture. I literally thought I was gonna die on the way back to my car (where I had water stored). The next day, after drinking a lot of water the previous evening and showering with cold water I still had a temperatur of nearly 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit), and my eyes lay so deep in their sockets I didn't look like myself. That was a horrifying experience and made me really paranoid about having enough water.

Both of my parents died because of driving while tired. My dad fell asleep at the wheel and crashed. Luckily no one else was hurt. And my mom was rear-ended by a woman that fell asleep at the wheel, causing her to drive off the road and end up in a roll-over. The dent in the back of our car almost reached the back seat, where I was sitting.

I got sick with a blood infection and pneumonia a few years back, and didn’t realize anything was wrong. Except every night, I’d randomly spike a 104 fever- then I’d take some ibuprofen and be fine for 24 hours or so, until it repeated the next night. I went to my doctor repeatedly, over the course of ten days, but my temp was normal during the day and he thought I was fine (“maybe the fu” he said). I would never have even worried much about it, I was 22 and healthy overall, so I had stupidly little concern. But my mom’s a nurse, so she understood how serious this one symptom was when it was reoccurring daily. Turned out that I was suffering from adrenal fatigue as well- my immune system was so exhausted from sepsis and pneumonia that it couldn’t properly respond. So my vitals were normal, and my bloodwork wasn’t insanely abnormal like it should have been. Ultimately, I spent over a week in the hospital, and 6 more weeks taking IV antibiotics. So, if you feel that something is wrong, get a second opinion if you have to. My doctor didn’t even do the test that diagnosed me until another doctor at his practice got on him about it. Doctors are human, and they can be wrong. I could have died, and I very nearly did. Advocate for yourself- if you’re wrong, you might look like an idiot, but that’s better than suffering or even dying, needlessly.

Driving tired is just as impairing as driving wasted. Had a mate lose his life because he had a few micro-sleeps and was essentially sliced in half colliding with a truck and a concrete retaining wall. Also, lol, here in Australia, we have genuinely risky and dangerous surf conditions. Bondi rescue wouldn't have made it beyond its pilot episode if we didn't have Bondi beach's rip tides, and the allure Bondi has on roping in tourists who have never had to swim in dangerous surf conditions, let alone even know how to tread water and float.

The part about mixing various cleaners -- Also don't store all your cleaners all in one area. If there is an earthquake or their shelf collapses and all the bottles fall, crack, and leak together, then you've suddenly got a very deadly toxic gas situation that can kill your family and pets. I keep my vinegar, bleach, rubbing alcohol, and acetone stored in different rooms.

Cold weather. This applies in two ways. First, if it’s incredibly cold out, dress warmly *and* keep moving. It doesn’t matter if you ignore cross signals, walk in place, or dance at intersections, if you stop moving, you will get much colder and have a bigger risk of hypothermia. Second, when it starts warming up, you’ll be tempted to wear fall/spring clothes….don’t until it’s at least 45-50 Fahrenheit out. Just because you’ve grown accustomed to much colder weather throughout the winter and 20 degrees feels like it’s 60 degrees doesn’t mean that it is, so you’ll risk frostbite if you don’t dress for the weather. On top of that, don’t be afraid to stop in a store if you’re walking in the cold and start to feel uncomfortable. Heck if your area is safe, knock on a house door. Taking 5-10 minutes to warm up can make a huge difference and people who live in the area should understand, if not offer you a ride.

Everytime we dealt with a confined space, those that actually entered had to wear respirators and be attached to a lifeline depending on the size of the space, and there was always one or two people outside in case of emergencies, and keeping an eye on the air mover that would push fresh air into the space.

Hemochromatosis of type 2a and 2b Check your family history, ffs. As much as anemia (iron deficiency) is dangerous, the opposite is too. If you're young or have teenagers, check family history. Tho 10% of the population has or will have type 1 hemochromatosis around age 40 or 50, you can live without ever knowing you have it and maybe just be a grumpy old person. Type 2 is different. It's juvenile. Usually showing signs in late teens or early twenties (I was diagnosed at 18). You have to check family history, because the gene is active only every two generations. So, a person who shows symptoms only has a carrier parent, but a grandparent who has it. Now, you're thinking to yourself "yeah, but you just said you can live with that normally". Not this one. It's stronger and too much iron can lead to clogged blood vessels, liver problems, heart problems, digestion problems, arthritis, liver cancer.... Basically, any organ is at risk. I can't count how many scans and MRI I've gone through just to make sure my body was fine. Had a liver biopsy and I have a phlebotomy every three months. It's so spaced apart because I'm well treated

This is an obvious one, but if you're not a strong swimmer, maybe don't go swimming without a floatation aid or at least someone supervising you at all times. One time when I was visiting my aunt and uncle and cousins, we went to the next town over to go swimming. I don't remember which adults came with us, but I remember my older cousin was there because she plays a big part in this memory. I was, idk, 10 I think, which would make her around 13 at the time. My cousin went in the deep end of the pool since she was a confident swimmer, and I was in the shallow end with my arm bands because I struggled. The adult(s) that brought us were in a little cafe area while we swam. I was disappointed that I couldn't swim with my cousin (there was a barrier separating the two sections of the pool, and you weren't allowed in the deep end with floaties), so stupid kid me had the bright idea to take my arm bands off and go over to the deep end to swim with her. How hard can swimming really be? I stepped off the ladder into the water . . . and sank like a brick. Idk if there was a lifeguard on duty (if not, then there absolutely should have been), but the first person to notice I went under and didn't come back up was my cousin. I was probably under for 10-20 seconds, if that, but it felt like several minutes went by before I felt my cousin grab me and swim me back up to the surface. I was crying, and I was scolded by whichever adult(s) were with us but also comforted by them and my cousin. It was terrifying and, as far as I can recall, probably the closest I've come to dying.

If you ever wonder where the stereotype of the Crazy Cat Lady comes from, thats due to women who were infected with Toxoplasmosis which they contracted from their cat's saliva. Considering cats groom themselves by licking, it is possible to contract this from a cat scratch that breaks the skin but is preventable by properly treating the wound with soap and water. As far as cat bites go. You should be fine as long as your cat doesn't break the skin. Most bites occur from playful biting to love nibbles which usually aernt powerful enough to pierce skin but you should still treat the bite with soap and water to kill off the parasites and harmful bacteria. However if your cat manages to break the skin, you should treat and dress your wound then seek medical treatment within 24 hours. Edit: Also make sure your cat gets all their vaccines and shots. This wont prevent you from getting sick but it greatly helps.
