If you get the boba (tapioca pearls) with your milk tea, you should order the drink at “0% sugar level”.The boba pearls are soaked in honey and sugar already, so when put into the drink, it already contains sugar. The milk tea will taste pleasantly sweet, even at “0% sugar”, due to the boba pearls being so saturated in honey 🍯

Just another hit piece on bubble tea industry. Some people with vested interests in coffee cafes and colas are just angry their drinks market share is being eaten away. Bubble tea industry has already met the challenge by customising sugar levels. They are just grasping at straws. Many other foods also contain a lot of saturated fats, sugar like soft serve ice cream, iced coffee, fizzy soft drinks, yoghurt with lots of sugary toppings e.g. sprinkles, sugary cereals. If you want to find out how much sugar per 100g, just read their nutritional info on the side of the products.

In every corner there is a milktea shop everywhere! I have never tried it before so I can’t say anything about it.

I’d love to try bubble tea, but it’s not that popular in my country so it’s hard to find :(

this is our favorite junk to drink when we are in Taiwan year 1992 to 1995. We were addicted to it more than a coffee, and we need to have that fix at least one cup a day. And thank God it was rarely available here in Penang when i moved here 1996. at least i was able to programmed myself to get rid of it, and now i am proud to say, i just look at it when i passed by the shop as it is available in every corner of the mall.

My type 2 Diabetes was to blame on bubble tea big time and its very good in skyrocketting your sugar level.

the comparison to coffee was actually insightful. i don't drink coffee that much because i don't "think" that i need the caffeine. however, i do drink coffee on days where i think i need it. but if bubble tea provides the same amount of coffee... then i should just replace my coffee with bubble tea HAHA. the only thing i want to mention is this "healthier version of bubble tea" that they mentioned near the end. personally, i think of slushes - like a mango slush - might be the healthier option. thoughts on my last statement, anyone?

It isn't that bad if you opt for low sugar option, eg. 25% sugar, that should add up to only about 100 kcal per cup. That's about 5% of an average daily calorie intake.

I like this channel and the videos! Btw, where can I get the mask? It looks so useful to drink outside.

I went through a phase where I drank up to five cups of boba everyday for several weeks. I did make the tea by myself and only add three spoons of sugar and honey BUT I DID END UP GAINING A LIL BIT OF WEIGHT

I think the tapioca dissolves with time and the tea becomes sweeter as you drink it Maybe organic artificial 0 cal sweeteners could replace the sugar

Somehow I don’t normally buy bubble tea, instead I buy a lot of fruit green tea from bubble tea stores without adding bubbles or toppings lol. The staff are always like: are u sure u dun wanna add anything? And most of the time I found 50% sugar level too sweet for me.
