You inspired me to do a deep dive on my own sales of Chico’s clothing. I live in Florida so I find it often (they are based out of Miami). In addition, FL has a large population of their demographic. I pick up and sell a lot of Chico’s. I currently have 189 listings which is about 20% of my ebay store. Last year, I sold 177 Chico’s items. Size 2 & 3 represents 73% of my sales. Shirts and jackets/cardigans represent 75%. Items made of their Slinky Knit fabric represented 16% of my sales. When deciding whether to pick up an item, I think it helps to understand their demographic. The customer generally is an mature woman who likes comfortable style. She likes quality fabrics and interesting details. She is often travels and wants items that are easy to pack and don’t wrinkle easily. She likes capsule pieces that can be paired with an interesting jacket or cardigan. She often likes vibrant, artsy fabrics that coordinate with neutrals like black and blue. A few keywords that I use are Cruise, Travel, and Packable. I start my title with Chicos and the size number and put the US size a bit further in the title. Chicos fans know what their Chicos size is and will search accordingly. In the size drop down, I put the US size. I generally pick up pieces that meet my cost goal of $5 or less and sell most items between $18-25 (before shipping). It’s a good bread and butter item that I can easily find.

The Chicos jacket with the pyramid and "desperately seeking" in the keywords - that design was inspired by an old 80's movie starring Madonna called "Desperately Seeking Susan". Madonna wore a jacket similar to this in the movie.

Thank you! Also, I looked up the listings and these two were actually someone’s handmade recreations of that Madonna jacket - they painted and sewed stuff on a Chico’s jacket base. So not something we’ll likely stumble upon!

Hi Cayley, thanks soooo much for doing these deep dives in common brands, its incredibly helpful! I come across Chico's and the only thing i was picking up was the artsy cardigan jackets, usually in velvet. Usually would sit a while for me, 3 or 4 months! 🥰

I love this series! I used to pickup Chico traveler all the time. It's easy to process and not wrinkly at all. Now I am extremely picky

Chicos is one of my bread and butters. I know that I won’t get rich off of it, but it still sells. It moves between 19-35 dollars (preowned) for me. New is still in that range.

The problem with velvet and velour is that a LOT of people don't know the difference between the two. Listings will call something velvet when it's actually a cheaper quality velour.

😆I worked at a Chico’s for about a year (this was 9 years ago). I used to sell Chico’s (size 2 and 3 pretty easily). I pick it up to resell only once in a blue moon (now). Here’s the thing about Chico’s….if you shop their clearance items at their retail locations and/or their website, you can score items for very cheap. I think the hard core Chico’s fans know this. And so selling it ‘used’ is much harder these days.

Maybe that’s it. Cause I love Chico’s and they fit me well as an older woman and some of their stuff is really nice but I can’t sell it. But I also refuse to sell it for less than $20-25. Decent fabrics, fully lined, nice colors, good fit-but just sits there forever.

Also, I always want to pick up Chico's because I do sell it...but maybe now I really need to stop getting it so much.

Picked up 2 Chico's jackets, same size, XL, basically same design, one red, one brown. The brown sold almost immediately for $28, I still have the red after a year. Thought red would sell better. I will keep my eye out for the velvet!

I have noticed it slowed down for me. My travelers pieces aren't moving and they used to sell quite consistently. I did find a few velvet pieces which sold quickly for me, but they are rare.

I LOVE selling chicos. It’s my best selling B&B brand! We have one here so I find it a ton. I mostly pick up NWT. At least a size 2 unless it’s really special or nwts and some other factors. I usually get $20-$50. I think my best was a sheer silk kimono with gold embroidery on it. Sold for $50 in a day. It was stunning. I would have picked it up regardless of brand tbh. Lol.

My issue I have with Chicos is my thrift stores tend to price it high. I feel like it’s super rare for me to find it under $6-10 (up to $15 at some Goodwills in my area) so I usually pass on even their larger sizes and dresses unless I can get it super cheap.
