Hi. Is there a way we can get back to more Lin Manuel-Miranda content? Doesn't have to be the Hamilton Mixtape if there's still copyright issues. Maybe In the Heights songs? Lin Manuel-Miranda content was how I found the channel, and there's a lot more to explore with him. Thanks, and more power to your career.

What? None of Corpse's medical conditions are fatal, so the only way he's going anywhere is if he checks out. So I sure as fuck hope that's not what it means. :( :( :( As someone with chronic illnesses myself, I took it to mean that he's just wasting his life. He's fucking stuck, unable to really get out there and live, because of all the shit he's got going on. He's a prisoner of his apartment, both because of the illnesses, and because of his current faceless online status. When you've got chronic shit holding you back, every days feels a little bit like a tragedy. So many things that could have been, that will never be...

Having an chronic illness changes your perspective on EVERYTHING. on friendships on relationships on life itself. i went from dreaming and thinking of my future to living day by day because idk if i have tomorrow. him talking about the looming feeling of death is really what its like. its sad but im glad he writes about it because theres many people who can relate and feel seen. i just hope hes doing alright, its hard. having an illness like his is hard

The line "Hoodie sleeves up and the mask off" I reckon is him expressing his willingness to be honest and vulnerable with this person. Many people who self harm cover their arms and wrists at all times, often with sweaters or hoodies. And Corpse is famous for his mask. It's basically his online "face", and the only identity he is known by for literally millions of people. And he's offering to take that off and put it aside... Man... Also the sick sick sick sounds an awful lot like 666 to me.
@JeffPalmer941

"damage in my c6, but you get that, so I know you'll understand where my blade at" is a triple. nerve damage in/near the c6 causes a sharp pain around the shoulder and scapula (shoulder blade), often caused by shoulder or neck movements. The triple about "understand where my blade at" is: 1) the sharp pain feels like a blade. 2) the obvious reference to shoulder blade, 3) Corpse has been very open about his thoughts of suicide. The constant pain and numbness from this, I perceive this line to be talking about ending the pain S-word style. As someone who frequently experiences c5 and c6 pain, I can tell you.. in my case, when it's acting up it feels like someone constantly hitting your "funny bone" over and over again. It just radiates from shoulder to elbow, constantly. However, it sounds like his is far more severe than mine. In my case, a visit to the chiropractor helps after a day or two.

I think the whole first half is him reflecting on a past relationship that ended in them dying because the whole first part he never really swears at her like the whole misa line on the second part. It’s him reflecting on all of the what if’s or what happened and I feel like the whole call me when you get back and love you is the final thing he said to her before something happened, then the second half is kinda where he is now the chick he’s with will never be like the girl before hand that made life special and the fame and the negativity on that just becomes a mountain of hatred…. But that could be just how I interpreted it wonder if anyone else sees it or agrees.

The line “in my restless dreams I see you” is another reference to Silent Hill 2, aka Corpse’s favourite video game. In SH2, James receives a letter from his wife who he believes died long ago of an untreatable (chronic) disease. In reality he suppressed the memory of himself murdering her. He was angry and resentful of being her caretaker but also horribly guilty for killing her. Meanwhile his wife was terrified to die yet hated she was getting sicker and uglier and at times told James she wanted death. Corpse relates heavily to both the guilt ridden suicidal James, and Mary, the chronically sick spouse facing inevitable, slow and painful death. “In my restless dreams, I see you…” is how the letter began. And in MISS YOU “Don’t come back” and “I don’t deserve flowers, between the disease and the drugs, I look like a monster” are directly lifted from Mary’s dialogue in SH2.

Just a thought, IronMouse was also extremely sick during her childhood but was well taken care of by her family and is now improving thanks to the support of her friends, family, and fans. On the other hand it seems to me that Corpse was pushed away, neglected, or maybe even abused in some way by his family and while I can't say whether he's gotten worse or not he hasn't seemed to have gotten any better either. I wonder what differences let to such different situations.

This is true, although I think he blames himself at least somewhat for whatever happened in his past."Got a lot of bad shit that I'm takin' to my grave Got a fuckin' date with death, on house arrest 'til trial date" That's from Agoraphobic. He openly says he hates himself. Self harms. etc etc. There's a lot we don't know about him, but either way he's very much isolated from the support of family, regardless of how that came to be true.

That first line hits me hard. One of my exes went to college and I was focused on living life since I was sick until 17. She became a nurse, I became addicted to anything to help me forget the pain and limitations I was born with. I blacked out on the interstate at 75mph, woke up 20 miles from the last place I remember on the wrong side with a broken femur. A month later she was coming back to celebrate her mom and dad's anniversary and wanted to visit me since we were still friends. Drunk driver hit her and she didn't make it. The one who lived for others died from less force than the one who lived for himself. That was my 2016 summer, took years for me to accept that and I blamed myself daily, wishing I could have taken her place. Finally got past it last year then this drops and excuse me while I cry some manly tears

I totally relate to his illnesses. I was diagnosed with lupus and antiphospholipid syndrome (rare blood clotting disorder) last year after searching for answers for a few years. The APS causes your blood to just randomly clot. I've already had blood clots in my lungs (two years before I was diagnosed) and in my leg. I'm on tons of meds for my chronic illnesses (immunosupressants created their own problems) but death is often on my mind... what if my meds aren't efficient enough or stop working? Will I throw a random clot and have a stroke, heart attack, pulmonary infarction? I'm 35. my family was already prepared to say their goodbyes in 2018... I was extremely ill from a massive spinal infection and was hospitalized for 370 days in 2017/2018. My kids were 4 and 7 at that time. I worry that day will come again all too soon and it would be forreal that time.

@@BooksRebound ugh I'm so sorry for what you are going through. You're so young too. 😪 with the euthanization, do you not need a diagnosis in order for them to carry that out? Where do you live? Do you have maybe university or teaching hospitals? They usually have some of the best specialists. If you have exhausted all those options I am so sorry. I am American. During that whole time my insurance was billed just under $5 million. My out of pocket (I was uninsured for a few months) was $265k. It was written down to $52k (Gee, thanks) which will NEVER be paid. But I am thankful that I do have pretty damn good insurance now that I can afford to pay for myself. It's so expensive. I have atleast 4 appointments or procedures every single month and meds too. Can't afford to not have insurance.

I like to think that, for CORPSE, this is his craziest multiple (or more) entendre. If you stretch the bar “Damage in my C6, but you get that so I know you’ll understand where my blade at,” you get a reference to a car model if you just take the C6, maybe even the musical octave (but let’s be honest I might be really stretching it here, but more so than with the car model reference), then you have “the medical issue, then the shoulder blade, then the suicidal thoughts, then the blade of death” (three things you pointed out), then the backstabbing reference. So it’s like a sextuple entendre, possibly a septuple entendre if you count the musical octave. it’s a high note. Like, to him his high note is knowing he will die and not suffer anymore (ok, maybe an octuple entendre, but again, might be stretching it a lot). It might have more layers than that.

You probably got it right the first time about the blade c6 line, Corpse has struggled with self harm in the past (and probably still struggles with it, in an Instagram QnA in Feb of 2021 he said "that's something I still struggle with," but hasn't spoken about it since the Anthony Padilla interview I don't think), so it probably was a line about self harm that has a double meaning with the concept of being stabbed in the back?

I’ve dealt with chronic illnesses my entire life. there’s been too many times that I sat in the dr office or hospital with my mom as a kid while my mom cried and the dr told us things were so serious I could die. I remember one time my mom was sobbing and called my dad from work. I remember when he showed up. I remember calling my friend after, crying my own eyes out, telling her I could die. corpse gives me so much inspiration it’s probably hilarious. I relate to so much to the parts of his life and the experiences that he’s shared with us. to see him not have given up on his dreams and what he wants even with his struggles, really keeps me going sometimes. sometimes you really need someone just like you to look up to. I guess corpse is that to me. maybe a little weird to some, but I know corpse is a lot more real than the majority of people’s idols or favourite celebrities or whatever. anyway, I really like this song. also, as someone who used to self harm, I take “hoodie sleeves up, let the mask off” as showing his scars and showing his face and then the line “so you know where my blade at” is in reference to the sh. just speculation, though, ofc!

Yes!! I love how you talk a bit about the rhyme scheme and production. Most other reacters just say "Yo! That's deep" and stumble their way through an ill-informed interpretation.

I wonder if this also relates to the person he talked about in white tee (looking for a piece of you in somebody else) and maybe the one who has been lying is the one he keeps up on the shelf in white tee but she has some "piece" of the first person? Bit of stretch maybe. Kinda also reminds me of Miss You!, for instance "she optimistic, not me" in this songs context could be that they're maybe both chronically ill, but she's optimistic of her future and going to college and so forth while he's into drugs and thus marks himself as a reprobate and a life waster, while she just has "tough luck". Also the "knew that this would happen, fuck love" could be interpreted as her passing away due to the illness, which he knew in advance would eventually happen.

This was really interesting to hear you picking apart the different rhyming and rapping patterns! This song is super old now but I'd love to hear you pick apart dead fast rap by Boyinaband, so many puns! Or anything from him really!

8:26 I like how the sound plays considering the previous lyrics about facing death. Yhe sound reminds me of ticking of the clock, simbolising the time he got left on earth and the life wasting that goes past him. When I realized this, I got goosebumps.

where he had wrist issues, mentioned the blade- the spine. Its a triple entendre referencing his hand issues, suicidal thoughts, and even a stab in the back so to speak- like being betrayed. Even if this is all an accidental three stacked bar, it is crazy good and he should take credit for it!

i don't usually comment on videos much but have to say, the way u meticulously broke down the lyrics and the meaning behind it, that most people don't get and just hear it on a superficial level and not the lurking deep meaning behind it. keep doing your thing man, much love 🖤

coming from a family of people with the same throat illness (GERD) I can relate to and its sucks (for anyone who doesn't know it's when stomach acid comes up through your stomach and into your throat burning it) but everything else including the major one being problems with the C6 muscles or what ever (someone else explained it in the comments) is much worse then the throat and personally i'm just amazed at how even with all this he's entertaining people around the world whether its music or gaming and the old horror stories he did it's just amazing.

Also, you mentioned self harm with the C6/blade at line, but I think he was also referencing it with the “hoodie sleeves up, let the mask off” line, because you pull your sleeves up to show the scars, and he’s mentioned in interviews that he wears masks often even before the quarantine because he has even cut on his face as well. The self hatred runs really really deep

Damage to the c6 would screw up your wrist's so: damage to my c6 (*wrist's*), blade as in shoulder blade but also (blade on his wrist as in wrist cutting) so you know where my blade at. Damn since when did corpse start dropping triple entendre's.

I love listening to this song because the parts about chronic illness are so relatable to me. Even though they're all mental health issues, having six chronic illnesses makes everything feel lonely. Like you're about to die, because sometimes you are. Music that speaks truth makes me feel better.

I see it as someone who he loved and went on to college but stuck by him even though he was a drop out and considered a failure that would never amount to anything. He has his illness and depression and has made it no secret that he contemplated suicide, but he still here, but this other person who was on track to make something of themselves, who promised to always be there for Corpse and be by his side through all of this is the one that actually killed themselves. That's why the second half takes a turn. He angry that this person probably helped convince him to keeping pushing on with life but they chose not to take their own advice. That's what i get from this song

When he says “you said a million years” I also took this as like “I wouldn’t hurt you in a million years, I’d never do that in a million years” etc and then “guess the stars aligned” as she did hurt him and fuck him over
