My opinion: The Bucks are not as good as previous years because the ball is not always in Giannis’s hand. And having the ball in Giannis’s hand is more dangerous than in Lillard’s. The thing is that in Portland, the ball almost always had to be in Dame’s hand. He never had to play that much off-ball. Going from having the ball all the time to not having to do that is a big change. And then, he isn’t a good defender. The Bucks didn’t need a Lillard, Jrue was the perfect PG for the Bucks. Bucks needed to fix defensive scheme, not the players. With Dame not being a good defender, it makes other Bucks players have to put more effort on the defensive end. I was watching the Bucks game against the Jazz recently, and I was thinking that they were hitting tougher shots than they needed to, and the Bucks were getting away, until the 4th quarter, with the defense they played. The Jazz was just missing a lot of shots that should have been buckets. That 4th quarter choke is no accident.

Yes the Bucks needed a reliable second scoring option. Middleton is too injury prone nowadays. Brook and Jrue were too inconsistent, especially come playoff time. So they needed another elite scorer to take the offensive load off Giannis. The problem is that Dame has been playing like crap this season and sucks at defense. Jrue looks much better on the Celtics because he's got 4 other starters who can consistently get 20+ a night while he can just focus on defense.

Bucks were a good Unit who needed to only make minor changes to improve and yet they hijacked the move of Miami Heat whose offensive setup revolves around guards like Damian Lillard. In the process, they indirectly senr Jrue Holiday to contender in Celtics sabotaging Heat and themselves. Bucks don’t have defensive system which masks the defensive lapses of guards like Heat’s system. They also don’t have players to do that like Bam, Butler, Caleb etc and most important their zone.

This is why it made more sense for him to be on the heat since they can just run the offense through him as the 1st option. Jimmy doesn’t mind this and is only the 1st option by necessity. With Giannis, dame has to learn how to not have the ball 24/7 and actually attempt to play defense. I do believe he’ll be able to adjust in the second half but honestly it looks a bit too awkward halfway in. 😅

Dame still has to find his way and gel, mesh, etc with the team. The problem comes in with the random coaching changes. They started with a coach the organization seem to not want but, was winning. He's probably on the decline in general. He's a rhythm shooter so not having the ball in his hands all the time contributes, but that ain't the whole deal. His shooting percentage still shouldn't fall off a cliff in a scenario where he's getting more open looks than ever. I think his mind has (understandably) been elsewhere, and at this stage of his career it's unlikely that he's gonna get it back.

At the end of the day, dame was never in a situation where he was expected to win. In Portland, when they win it’s dame time, when they lose it’s his teammates not playing d. Playing in a franchise where you are expected to win every night is where great players shine and until he has done it, shouldn’t be placed on the same echelon as the superstars who played through that kind of pressure. Chucking up shots and playing 0 defence can only get you that far.

Good video, but I've got to disagree with you that Dame is "obviously better" than Ray Allen in his prime. Ray was clutch and has championships.

Thats the thing .......HES JUST A SCORER.... at what point in his career has been at least an above average "team defender"....... his defensive short comings has been overloooked his WHOLE career.... hes still get you a bucket

Quite simply, the homie doesn’t wanna be there. Miami was his preferred destination but joe Cronin wanted to be a jackass, so here we are lol

Heat’s offer for Dame was trash, and I still stand to this day that it is. Like, does Portland need another guard in Herro when they already have multiple young ones like Simmons, Henderson, and Sharpe for the future?! Pat Riley gotta do better than that. And even if he does end up in South Beach, this performance he is putting up here in Milwaukee will probably shift there
@FinzTalkzTV8 ай бұрын
@@fbcorpuz7441 yes, because that deal has worked out so well for Portland lol. The best player Portland received from that deal, ayton, has been absolute dog feces. Herro is a lot of things, and one of them is being a 21 ppg scorer on a team with 2 other 20 ppg scorers, whereas Portland only has Simons and grant cracking 20. At the very least, herro would’ve been far more helpful to Portland then Ayton has been. Portland isn’t even going to really benefit from that trade until 5 years from now, when they can use those 1sts. I highly doubt Cronin will still have a job by then. Riley could’ve done better, but so could have Portland. Instead they settled on a trade with the only other team even willing to entertain the thought and now all parties suck b/c of it. Well, except jrue 😂😂. You may be right about dame, but Miami has the infrastructure to mask his defensive issues, Milwaukee doesn’t. So the production Miami would’ve gotten from dame would’ve been far more impactful then what he’s giving Milwaukee. But hey, I’m not complaining, Portland’s gonna be in the gutter for the next 2-3 years AND Milwaukee is on the decline. The main threat to miamis return to the finals is Boston. So I’m good lol

I've never been apart of the group who thought Dame was any more than he is or that it was ALL on the Blazers, but this is rough. His stats dont tell the whole story. You've got to see them playing to grasp how bad he's been. I think it's probably the change in his personal life with a divorce. I hope he's able to find a balance and look a little more like the Dame we thought he could be on this team.

It's not age with Lillard. Lillard's speed, quickness, and athleticism isn't diminished. I don't think he's comfortable in his role, and probably feels pressure of the expectations. The Bucks have been a top 3 seed in the East with championship expectations, fired their championship coach, traded for Dame, and now fired their new coach mid season, with the second best record not only in the East, but in the league at the time. The Bucks had the easiest schedule and struggled to beat bad teams. The point being, Dame will never have an excuse for not winning a title. Failure harms not only his legacy, but Giannis legacy as well. Maybe his ex said that's why you're never going to win a chip, and he's got that pressure too😂 The other part, about his role is this. I remember when I used to hoop locked up, that I played pretty well when I perceived myself to be the best player on the team. Usually multiple courts and games, the better hoopers would see me killing it and pick me up. I'd still usually grab boards, but my shot would be off and I'd be second guessing what I'm doing because I know there's better scorers. Just to say that Dame's under a lot of pressure, and him not being the best player on the team may be affecting his play. I'd try to stagger their minutes as much as possible. If they're both playing 35, I'd try to create a situation where they're only on the court together 22 minutes. Creating the most opportunities for each to lead the team offensively. When Dame's out for 13 of Giannis minutes we got Pat Bev. When Giannis is out for 13 of Dame's minutes Brook and Bobby are capable. Brook has to be respected by that three point line which opens up lanes for Dame. The Bucks need to think about it as a 3 look team, with 3 different systems of offense and defense. Dame and Giannis, Giannis without Dame, and Dame without Giannis. Start with one, move to the next, and the following, and whatever one is working the best on a given night is what you lean on.

Look at what Dame does once he gives up the ball, compared to what Steph does. They are on completely different levels, or planets. When Steph gives up the ball, that’s actually a DANGER!DANGER! siren to the defense. with Dame, it’s a great opportunity to reallocate his defender into a double-team.

Dame is not washed: Oct 26 - Nov 14 📉 22.8 PTS / 4.8 AST / 37% FG / 27% 3P Nov 15 - Dec 31 📈 27.0 PTS / 7.6 AST / 46% FG / 41% 3P Jan 1 - Now 📉 22.9 PTS / 6.6 AST / 40% FG / 29% 3P The main difference is Dame had a decline in production Oct 26 - Nov 14 📉 but because of the way he was playing, when Dame requested to play the whole 1sts and 3rd quarter like he did in Portland. The results showed from Nov 15 - Dec 31 📈 his production increase. Then Doc came in and stoped the way Dame was playing by not playing him the whole 1sts and 3rd quarter, his production significantly dropped again. That’s my analysis, Dame is not washed it’s the way he is being used that is not allowing him to be the best version of himself.

Has Dame ever been on NBA Finals team? NO. So why are we expecting more of him. He’s above average but we give him MVP level treatment when he’s never been a top 3. He a really an all star level player but seriously he doesn’t meet expectations that people have for him.
