What's WRONG with my 2018 Mercedes CLA45!

I was super happy with my ownership experience of this car and would totally buy one again. I stated many times throughout this video that I loved the car. I'd say the seatbelt is because it wouldn't blend with the seats in the middle and could look out of place probably a Mercedes-Benz aesthetics thing also the point of remote start is in colder countries to clear you're windscreen or warm the engine to have hot air to defrost the screen I think the door pins that's just them cheaping out and in the UK the red belts are standard on a45 and cla45

Uber Jim personally I think having 1 seat belt not match looks more out of place than if they were all red, and yes I know what the remote start is for... I use it all the time ... but it still bugs me that when I open the doors it turns off then I have to start the car "again"

Also, when i build the car on MB Canada and chose the red seat belts, check the cabin view, all 5 seatbelts are red in the car.

Been washing mine by hand for over a year and none of the Night Pack pieces are scratched or stained. So god knows what you were washing your car with. And those door pins must be some US market thing. EU cars have tiny door lock pins that only just stick out.

That's interesting that you said that, I have talked to multiple US owners that have issues with the trim pieces staining like I have using regular car wash soaps (I use chemical guys soap right now). As for the door pins that really annoys me that they would use different ones for different markets.

i like the black seatbelt make it more symmetric (that's why i think M-B done it), instead of a redline in the middle of the seats. i do agree on the trim around the windows that suck'd, your car will turn off because it's easy to unlock the car with a device those thieves use, it's common here in EU. the rest well... very nice AMG!!

I love this car. and it's what you get for an entry level amg. I paid to have fun with this not to glamor in it... c43 can glamor and be sporty. the class is just a 4 cylinder beast. totally worth my fully loaded 45

Regardless of the $60k price tag, this is the 'entry level' Mercedes, just shoved with a honking AMG hand built motor. You don't get the traditional Mercedes luxury touches until you get up to either the C or E class. I know because grandmother has a B-class while parents have a C-class and the differences are noticeable immediately. As for stop-start, we don't even have that option in Canada, and the only way the dealer can add it on is via 3rd party remote engine starters. Apparently it is discouraged by Mercedes-Benz & most German brands - they believe remote start to be unnecessary and wasteful having the car sitting there emitting hydrocarbons. This is why a $20k Focus or Cruze has remote start while the $35k CLA 250 or A3 does not.

For around $8,000 more you could have gotten a C43 which in my opinion is the better option all around. A-class are entry levels. Shouldnt expect they focus on the luxury when youre buying an AMG.

MrSlowlyRacing I hear ya. Ive had 3 CLA45’s all tuned and problem free. Of course can’t speak to long term reliability since none had more than 20,000 mile. I think going with a piggyback would be a pretty safe bet.

While I agree with most of these, they are such minor details that if you don't look for them on purpose, you'll probably end up forgetting these problems even exist. I actually like the middle seatbelt being black. It's very rarely used, at least in my case, so it just stands out in case of the unusal event of somebody sitting in the middle.

I just think the CLA is just too cheap for Mercedes to use the same quality as their higher priced models and what you are paying for here is the drivetrain, it was just put in a car with cheap interior and exterior parts.

@@HAWX4 It doesn't take a genius to understand that the amg is essentially the same quality as a base cla excluding the "real carbon fiber". The problem is you could buy a higher tier car for cheaper price and get better quality.

The base price of the A/CLA/GLA 45 is about 53K. To me, the next tier in quality would be the C63, but you are going to be paying an extra 12K before options. To each their own, but I don't think you know what you're talking about.

Also, it seems like it's hard for you to understand, but an upgraded CLA (C45) is still just an CLA which cost more than let's say a C-Class or a GLA or even GLC which are higher tier cars. Even though C45 is more expensive than those cars, the quality is clearly below the examples I named. That's what he's complaining about in the video. P.S yeah the car could be above 60k depending on where you are. USA is not the only country that exists you know >.>.

One piece of advice that will solve most of your paint problems... get it opticoated and these areas will be corrected before it is applied, then afterwards the dirt will just fall off and no swirl marks light scratches ever again. I only just had it done to v60 Polestar and wish I had it done on every other car

About remote start, if you remote start the car and get it to cool down for a few minutes, when u get to the car and it switches off, just immediately switch it on again, you’re good to go. U gotta compromise on small things brotha

I can only agree with you that the roof end is not painted black is kind of silly. I wrapped my shooting brake too. I have no issue with the trim after 2 years of ownership, I prefer black color seatbelt in the middle. Never used the apps to start car so can't comment on that but does look a bit silly the engine stop when open door.

Complaining about not having a red seatbelt for the rear center seat is kind of lame. It would look awful to have that red swath across the middle of the rear seat and it just wouldn't be pleasing aesthetically. Also I don't know any car maker that puts a colored seatbelt in the center of the rear seats. Subaru doesn't (they only have four colored seatbelts for the WRX STI).

The auto start is wrong, my holden Redline or your chevy Ss has remote start for auto cars only and check the weather the day before, like if its going to be really cold or hot, set the temp's before stopping the engine parking it etc and it works while you open the doors and get in, you have to do just a couple of things to have everything turn on ,like the dash etc, but the heater/ A/C is working based on the settings the last time you had the engine on etc. :)

Ur funny. After u wash those trims, use ALCOHOL To wipe it down, because those trims attract the tiniest amount of oli from soap. Belts, just because u like READ, it doesn't mean we all do, and a stripe in the middle/side everyone won't like it. Those door pin system are cheap and easy to replace, even if something went wrong, u had to open the door, cheap parts.

This is Amg production line add on parts not small line special numbers Amg that's why .Modern selling technics thats it. No names on engines etc.not much comes standard all options .Amg used to be like Alpina still is 20-30 years ago.you can by c200 new and ask for Amg wheels for example .yours is a amg but kind of mass produced for man on the street really.my folks had a c36 years ago that was real supercharged by rare now leather stitching everywhere numbered car not a diesel petrol 2.0.though it is powerful it's not same bigger engines kind regards...
