Patty Baker You know, in the old days, like 40 to 50 years ago and before, people bought a whole chicken, or turkey, or leg of pork, or beef cut, lamb cut, etc, and they cooked a roast for Sunday dinner. They used the innards and organs to make stuffing and gravy. Then...: they made sandwiches using the remainder of the meat and ate that for the rest of the week. Then, about midweek they made soup out of the bones and remains. This soup served several meals as well. We used to know what to eat, what to cook, and how to make it go a long way. That was before we let those industrial food producers into our kitchens and essentially rendered us helpless. For 2 million years we were resourceful survivors. Now we are resourceless losers. Something to think about.

well done. and I agree with you. but REALITY CHECK!!! I live in a city with a population of 10 million people - where exactly is my local farm, and how does it produce enough organic cereal and happy meat to create 30 million meals a day? there's a lot more we have to do than buy from farmers markets. we need to eat less. we need to stop throwing away a third of our food. we need to chew more so we get more out of every mouthful. we need to stop being so damn lazy and greedy! So though I agree with you, I have to make this comment. we need to be thinking about everything we do. drive less, recycle more, waste less, etc. AND we need to understand that we are living the life of kings compared to pretty much every other human that has ever existed! Good start Birke, but don't stop there! Keep going! ;-)

It is refreshing to see a young person so well informed, confident, enthusiastic and engaged in his own surroundings. In todays society it is sad to say that others his age think that food is actually only sourced and grown in the supermarkets. When did it all become so complicated? Irrelevant of the rights and wrongs of both sides, I always stick with the basic principles. You plant a seed, that seed grows the food I can eat and nature provides any protection to make that food healthy and nutritional. I do not need my food to last for weeks or months or to see more of the world than me. Maybe going back to basics is what will save us in the end.

This kid is good-hearted and has good intentions, but he has no idea what he's talking about. There is absolutely no scientific data to uphold the negatives of GMOs. In fact, if you want to get technical, humans have been genetically modifying organisms since agriculture was invented by allowing crops with beneficial traits to live and procreate. Today, scientists take desired genes from other organisms and place them in others (like crops) to better preserve them, provide a new nutrient, etc. It's not like we're making a "tomato fish," but if we were, there would be no harm in eating it. Don't take my word for it though, just read this article.www.slate.com/articles/health_and_science/science/2013/08/can_gmo_corn_cause_allergies_don_t_believe_elle_s_scary_story.html

This kid has been feed the wrong type of info. If you look at a garden what do you do when weeds and insects start affecting the plants? You spray it. The rat study was botched and done by a scientist who is not taken very seriously. Organic farmers spray 400 different types of chemicals on there plants. It is really ashame that people have no faith in farmer's and the agriculture industry. I want to see were people get there information. Give me the sources! I am a farmer so ask me questions about GMOs and don't take the word of an 11 year old who knows absolutely nothing about farming seriously.

I must highly disagree with this talk. It was very useless, all he was doing was stating the problems we don't actually have, since most of the things he mentioned don't happen. Toxic water never happened to me and you can just use a filter. going to the hospital because of eating modified food never happened to me, if it did happen the company I got it from wouldn't exist anymore. Its just like the hate against nuclear reactors, most people don't like it cuz they have no idea how they work

legorig Why do you think the current rate of cancer is 1 out of 3 people!!! .. Compare that to a few decades ago.

Abigail pawulia ffs, can you freaking confirm that. and how about you research a cure for your freaking 'cancer'
@woodgrain8169 жыл бұрын
Longer life, better cancer detection, and more accurate diagnosis would increase cancer rates. Everyone has cancer. It's just depends of how much.

I am sorry but this kid is as artificial as crops he is talking about... not cool at all even if I totally agree to things he does say.

I love that Birke has figured this out at such a young age. A recent report by the UN confirmed that the only way we can feed our world AND have a world to live on is by organic farming.
