What's Wrong with the Matco Jamestown Cart?

This Jamestown cart is a great product from Matco, but it's got a serious design flaw. Other than that, it'll serve you well for many years. Just don't get caught in its trap, then use all kinds of cuss words once it happens. You can't say I didn't warn you about it.

My favorite thing about that cart was the depth in the top of the box. On some of your larger pry bars they have that longer handle. I also noticed that the bottom had holes in it as well so the pry tips could hang through. The box overall seems pretty spacious. Great video!

My complaint with this box that I have encountered is that the bottom drawer is stuck open will not close properly what should I do to remedy this problem thanks for your kind attention to this comment.

Bought one off the local Matco dealer today for $1350 plus tax. I think I did very well on it. It’s perfect for holding the common stuff

I had one and it was a great cart overall but my biggest problem was that I was in a pretty cramped shop at the time and all those 4” drawers were a waste of space for me. More 3” would have been more efficient (those are personal preference though). I agree with the points you brought up too. The drawers wouldn’t stay shut after about 2 years and I had to get a few slides that weren’t very expensive. I love how the front of the top compartment is lower for access but the corners are pretty sharp and you’re supposed to be able to close the top while it’s unlocked but you can’t. 4 swivel casters I could go both ways on because the fixed ones are better for pushing it longer distances.

I love my jsc770. Got a smoking deal on mine off my dealer brand new 8 years ago. It has held up extremely well. Only problem Ive had is that little plastic tab on the drawer detent wearing out over time and letting the drawers coast open. Ive replaced probably 3 sets of slides so far. All under warranty of course. But still a pain. My dealer actually did me a favor and gave me an extra set to keep on hand so i can swap them out as they wear out.

Good video.. Under that cover for the lock slide there are springs... another weak link with that cart.. Keep the tool info coming..

I think they come with 2 keys I have a matco 2s and keep the spare in a safe and easy to get to place for times like that or forgetting the main key at home

It doesn't take long to get a serious build-up of cob webs, especially here in Central Texas. I'm surprised there weren't any scorpions under there.

What would be a fair price on a used cart like this ?

It depends on condition and where you're buying it. If you're looking on Ebay or Offerup for one in excellent condition, I'd say $1,500. I'd get a little more than that if I sold and financed it on the truck. But I know a guy who picked one up off Facebook Marketplace in great shape for $500. That's a steal.
