Exactly Freya! Thanks for telling everyone else to be yourself. Many singers wanna sound like somebody else (preferably famous singers). Your own voice might sound perfect to someone or a huge crowd.

I'd like to add here, I think it matters a lot where your voice derives its uniqueness from. A voice can be unique because of a retracted tongue, vocal folds pressed together and/or excessively singing through the nose. It's unique, but it doesn't sound pleasant and it will not allow your voice to grow. After all it's bad vocal technique. You might fear that if you work to abandon those habits, your voice will loose its uniqueness. However consider that you might not even have found your true voice and it might be unique AND beautiful. It might take the production of many boring sounds to obtain the freedom necessary to be able to explore the full capacity of your voice and find the most interesting places to go for. A lot of the interesting character of our voices is derived from resonance, which only starts to shine once we've established a healthy technique, freedom and control.

The title is a bit misleading. I didn't learn anything about my *type* of timbre to my voice. Great explanation of timbre, but I came for the title, thinking that I'll learn more about different types and specifically my type of timbre. Could you make a video talking about that? Or is there no categories for timbre?

I completely agree. It was frustrating because I'm putting together a complete range Test for my students and wanted to check other resources for anything I may have missed.

Once you are used to the voice that you want to sound like, you will get it. But you need put efforts It's like you were thin but now you look bigger, healthier, and stronger when you start that bodybuilder lifestyle It is true you probably do sound quacky, but you can work for it. Nothing is impossible Work for your goals, be happy

I personally find that bright and ugly are synonyms in voices. I unfortunately have a rather bright voice but I find bright voices ugly. A dark contralto is the most attractive female voice I've ever heard sometimes called a dramatic controlto by the woman who song Italian operas in it
@cloudthief89182 жыл бұрын
Same, i have a bright voice that I consider to be really annoying. Altos and contraltos just have a richer, fuller sound..

I’m now much older than I was in high school and I was an opera singer, and my head voice was very strong, but now I just get my notes to come out with laser focus that I had in head voice. Also, my power just can’t be sustained like it used to be. I want it back! I practice daily.

so what's the difference between timbre and tone? it seems that term is used quite interchangeably
@f1rebreather1234 жыл бұрын
Timbre is like the quality of sound for that instrument. Tone is the quality of that sound in general
