Thanks, Jakub! Some nuggets of wisdom in there, for sure! And some wholesome food for thought… I really appreciate you sharing your filmmaking journey with us here. What especially resonated with me is the fact that you left your job in Switzerland for the pursuit of your own, more meaningful, more satisfying path. I’m working 30h/week as a content producer for a museum, which definitely is meaningful, somewhat fulfilling and not geared towards making a profit. But still, sometimes I'm missing those precious opportunities where I can poor my heart and soul in 100%, knowing I’ve done something substantial and rewarding. But I guess that’s what the rest of the week is for ;) PS: Hearing you talk about "Shokunin" made me instantly think of "Ikigai", which for me goes kinda hand in hand with the former.

I’m glad it resonated Lorenz! Yeah, not all work can be 100% fulfilling so it’s good that you enjoy your museum work but it’s also good to do 1-2 projects per year where you can pour yourself into the film👍🏼 Ikigai is definitely another Japanese concept I believe in😉 What would you say is your biggest challenge now in filmmaking?

@@JakubChlouba phew, tough one to answer…but thanks for making me finally think about it! Given the relatively "little" time I’ve actually left for (passion) projects, I need to be much more selective spending it. This also means setting the appropriate scope and timeframe for projects. As I’m pretty much solo, it’s easy to get overwhelmed with everything involved in filmmaking. Limiting yourself (lens choice, only handheld, natural light etc.) helps immensely here - sth. I remembered from one of your videos - which I'm trying to do more now. And it also means being extremely selective about spending time on youtube and social media; you know, the everlasting battle between consuming vs. creating ;) But interestingly enough, a growing number of creators here on youtube are getting married, or are having kids, or just don’t want to do the umpteenth gear review anymore. So, I do sense a slight shift towards more quality instead of quantity.

Great message. The wobbly footage in the beginning was a little rough. Nice look though.

Man tell me about it!😂 I borrowed a Sony Cam from a friend for the intro and he had active I.S. on which is absolutely horrendous 😭
