I originally was planning to make these sketches into a bigger deal, instead, using them as a two-day practice session was time well spent. I hope you enjoy.

Thank you for sharing your process and thought. I started painting in gouache in 2023, then tried acrylic and etc. I suppose being a beginner, I had to try various mediums. Your video inspired me to go back to value studies in gouache. I should practice small and frequently. I love your portrait studies. Thank you 😊

I am really happy you enjoyed the video, and that it inspired you to keep trying. These practice sessions like I said: are low risk, and High reward. you get to try new things, and build your confidence slowly. and if you divide your page the way I did, you can maximize your art real estate! Win Win.

Thank you for watching the video. I just recently did a project where I went back to digital art, after 10 years!!!, but it feels really good to work traditionally, and hope to stay here for another 10. Good luck with your journey back.

What a nice suggestion at the end, recently i've started practicing how to paint by myself.. and the concept of learning values by limiting your pallete to two or three colors, is a great help.. would definetly dedicate sometime to this. It is supermotivating, to get some value after watching a video.

Thank you for your kind words, and it makes me happy that you found some value from my video. I love monochromatic, and grayscale paintings and drawings, it is the quintessential "doing more with less". I know that learning/teaching yourself how to paint can be difficult, But I can sense your enthusiasm, you got this. ;). If you get a chance, check out these two videos on my channel, I will include them in the description. "What's Holding You Back from being Consistent?" and "Are You Struggling to Find Your ARTISTIC Voice?". They may further help you with tips, and ideas.
