To the one story with the laundry mat, I was also a child who didn’t know how to voice what was happening to her mom. I told my mom she should divorce her husband one time in the car as a kid. She asked me why and I was too scared to tell her he did things to me. I wish she would have really heared me. Good news is I “graduated” yesterday from my long term exposure treatment. It’s been such a long painful journey confronting my past and healing from all my childhood trauma but I finally reached the other side. I’m free from that awful man. Free from my abusive mom. And now I’m not only physically free but also psychologically free as well. Sorry for rambling. I just feel so happy finally being healed. And right in time for my birthday! It actually feels good being alive ❤️

It’s always so frustrating to me when monsters get away and continue their crimes for way longer than they otherwise would because adults response to kids straight up TELLING THEM about SUPER CONCERNING behavior is “stop lying.” Like maybe stop automatically assuming kids are lying about stuff like this?

@@AbsyntheAndTears Well said!!! I keep my kids as close to me as I can...I ask about their days and we discuss what is going on. As parents it’s important to make sure our kids have the correct words to describe and the confidence to do so too. As a mother if I took action against everyone my kids described as ‘weird’ or ‘creepy’ or ‘stupid, an idiot, grumpy, horrible, etc’ then 75% of the population would be gone. It’s up to us to make sure they’re able to tell us when something is really wrong.

@@lanabmc3519 Exactly, which is why I always pay attention to who my kids are talking to, I'm very observant and a great judge of character, I've also made it very easy for my kids to talk to me about anything, I feel like this mom failed and was way too trusting with a complete stranger, if she was paying attention whatsoever, she would've noticed a strange man talking to her kids and maybe even heard the vile things he was saying to them.
@lanabmc3519
@lanabmc3519 2 жыл бұрын
@@Mr.andMrs.Smith_0420 but life circumstances are different for people. I don’t always pay attention but I don’t live in a place where I really need to. Kids here go out themselves from four or five, make their own way to school or the park or whatever else they want to do. The most important part is being safe, able and confident to be able to speak up. That means talking to your kids about what is right and wrong and using correct language. Sheltering them from the right words isn’t helping yet you still see it

@@lanabmc3519 I never said anything about sheltering them, but I definitely would never let my kids go out at 4 or 5 by themselves lol, that's WAY too young, I don't know where you live but around here that's a terrible idea, honestly I don't think it matters where you live, creeps and pedos can live anywhere, that's a very naive way of thinking, call it paranoia or maybe living around here has my guard up 24/7, but I'd rather be safe than sorry 🤷‍♀️

I'd be pissed at my parents over the Mr.Herbert thing! Like if my best friend went missing and I said the neighbor gave me bad vibes and was following us and making uncomfortable comments and my parents just brushed me off. Then years later that dude was arrested for being a serial killer? Maybe they wouldn't have been able to save Henrietta, but if they'd listened to their kid a lot of that creeps victims might still be alive 😒

I was just agog...who DOES that??? Why are parents so dismissive these days anyway. First off, my teenagers don't go roaming around alone and without a way to contact me or me knowing who they are with and secondly, I would have hired a PI or fucking Sherlocked that dude for real myself had one of my babies been missing. Just wth? I would have likely eventually snapped and broken into his house and held him at gunpoint and asked about my kid. I know me.

@@maevependragon Seems like it was a story told by someone who's currently an adult. So I'm guessing they grew up in the 80s or earlier. Where parents were just like "ok have fun. Don't get killed!" UNIT 522 read out a horrific story from a guy who (when he was a child) saw 2 children being lured into a van at a shopping mall. He knew about stranger danger and was trying to explain it to his mother what was happening, but she just nodded as she looked at clothes saying 'That's right, never talk to strangers, good boy'. Days later he saw on the news the two boys (2 brothers) who had gone missing. Again he pointed out to his mother and tried to explain, but she just nodded and was barely listening. Parents. Sometimes I'm amazed at their stupidity.

I HATE parents who don’t believe their children! There are certain kinds of lies children simply do not tell (unless an adult teaches them to). Children are not going to lie about the sėxual interest of adults. They don’t even understand it. They’ll lie about sneaking snacks that they’re not supposed to eat, not some old(er) man commenting on their body. SMDH And I hate stupid parents who entrust their children to strangers. I hate parents who try to instill an ignorant assumption of innocence of everyone. They’re not protecting their children. It angers me. It is literally their job and they’re failing.

As someone from Harrisonburg, VA. Story two was quite scary. The weirdest part is the “shopping cart killer” was hardly even talked about on local news. Maybe for a couple days then the whole story went completely silent. Probably because our seemingly friendly town would never want to be seen as something it is. Every time I see a shopping cart in odd places, I get a horrified feeling. Stay safe out there.

For the last story: Your phone most likely picked up on a baby monitor in the area. Sometimes though you can hear both ways. The laughter was probably the parent of one of the baby monitors who knew you could hear them and decided to scare you. And hey, I 100% believe in and have experienced the paranormal. I don't mean to be insensitive. However, the mother in story number 7 totally enabled that man's behavior by allowing him to freely do whatever he wants even though she didn't want him to. I understand being lonely but he clearly was feeling like she was giving him the green light. I mean he tells her (not ask) that he's coming over, even though she didn't want him to and expressed that, but he still pops up, *and she allows him inside*but she doesn't stop there, she then proceeds to play host with him. Among many other things in that story that she didn't set straight with him... He's a creep for sure, but she enabled his creepiness.

I know they mean to respond on reddit but the last one, with the interferences happened to me, only on a baby monitor. I know you can sometimes cross receive other people's monitors. However I was standing in the kitchen when I heard this insane voice, it wasn't distorted from any reception issues but just like in the story, the 'woman' was also wailing and crying and making strange noises that no normal person can make, sometimes really high pitched, then very low. She also kept saying: "Why did you have to leave meeee!" over and over in a kind of ululating way😨. I am used to the supernatural and have seen ghosts etc, without running away, always trying to find a logical answer or make contact. I was at first interested because this was so incredibly weird, but after about 10 min of this, I had to switch it off as the hairs on my neck stood up and I realised there wasn't any logical explanation to this, this wasn't a hoax and it wasn't interference. It actually scared me shtless. The story brought all of it back to me...frigging heck.

I cannot understand how so many parents don't listen to their children. I have four children aged 7 to 15 and we talk about anything and everything. I hope they know I'd never be like the parents in these stories! I certainly tell them often enough that I'll always have their backs, I just hope they believe me...

As someone who has night terrors, I kind of relate to this..I don't know what I'm saying or doing either when I have them.

I didn't know you could speak during night terrors. My youngest daughter used to get them for 6 months and she would wake up screaming for some period of time before falling back asleep.

@@darkangelprincess101 I've asked my psych professor and he said it's not common. I will usually scream whatever it is I'm having a bad dream about and thrash, according to my husband. It is really unnerving for my family. I am so sorry for your daughter. I had a sleep walker when my youngest was a toddler and that was creepy enough!

So in the story with the lesbian couple, why is she basing them being good people because they’re white, middle class, and Christian? None of those things define a person as good or bad.

Agree, if they don't do more to thwart him, such as a restraining order, cameras (and he may very well have already been recording them with that cell phone incident), or her moving -- he will very likely weasle his way back into that woman's life. Her passivity towards his aggressive habits makes her a prime target for whatever his ulterior motives are.

I’m married to a sleep talker/walker and it took me a solid 3 years to get used to it. Sometimes he just talks or screams, sometimes he rearranges furniture or sometimes he gathers all the pillows and tries to sleep in the bathtub. 🤦🏽‍♀️🙄 It is creepy, entertaining, annoying, frustrating and hilarious all at the same time! 🙈 I’m so used to it now after 22 years that it doesn’t phase me anymore and thankfully it has calmed down quite a bit over the years.

My youngest sister sleep talks. I sleep laugh. Doesn’t happen often but when it does I wake up full blown laughing my ass off lol My sister on the other hand has night terrors and she screams in her sleep. Like full blow at the top of her lung screams and yells and screams people’s names (mostly our brothers name like he did something wrong or family names) and sometimes stranger names. More. I’d rather have talking then full blow screaming at the top of her lungs. She slept with me for years all my younger siblings did. (I’m the oldest n took care of all 4 of my younger siblings) and one night she screamed so loins I jumped out of a dead sleep and she ended up thrashing and kicked me right in the face and giving me one of the worst bloody noses I’ve ever had. (I had random horrible bloody noses as a kid. Until I was 20). And she still has night terrors and tails and screams to this day and she’s now 26. It’s frightening. It’s been over 20 years and I’m still not use to my sisters outbursts she has. Our grandma use to sleep talk and sleep walk. My niece sleep talks a lot and sleep walks. When she comes over I legit have to pile stuff in front of my door cause one time she legit tried opening it and walking out and my daughter came and got me just in the right time. She kept saying she needed to go by her mom (my sister who was across the street at my moms house) to get her meds. Lol. She still sleep walks and talks to this day.

It's just a hormone/chemical malfunction in the brain. Normally, we make enough to keep us immobile (certainly limited to the bed area), but others make none or not enough for this to work...so they physically react to their dreams as if they're awake. On the other hand, produce **too much** of that chemical and you get "sleep paralysis" -- where you cannot move, or even really speak/scream, but are awake and trapped in your body. Both options are disturbing.
