Actually, it's the electronics between the solar panel and the battery also make for an efficient system. In our economy it's the bigger the better. China is currently making enough solar, wind and nuclear generated electricity so that its coal fired plants are becoming obsolete. The Australian coal industry is being affected.

Way too complicated. Efficiency just makes things too confusing. Stick to the nominal method and round up to the next higher number will address inefficiencies since nothing is ever completely efficient. 1000 Watts = 1-100 AH LiPpO4 batteries = 2-100 watt solar panels. Scale it from there and always go heavier on the batteries and panels to address bad weather in the winter. There will be one bad day every three days and you want to make sure to survive at least three bad days to get the system back on track. The further north, the more you need but it’s a good basic starting point and add panels to cover the batteries as you can afford. Keep it simple.
