Definitely. They were the kind of friends who would always remain brothers. Anybody that has a younger or older brother, fights alot. But nothing ever breaks that bond and love for each other. The truth I believe is that the media def hyped up any differences they had, the media seemed almost to try and intentionally create strife with all the Beatles. For political reasons obviously. The same reason John was assassinated. Eveytime somebody has an enormous amount of influence over a very large population, and preach and sing messages that goes against our corrupt government's agenda such as songs for peace, and not war... gets assassinated. This has been the common theme all throughout history (JFK, John Lennon, Jesus Christ, Tupac & Biggie, on and on. His death was political. And the media (owned by the govt) tried to alienate John from his friends as much as possible, blowing any trivial matters w Paul waaaay out of proportion. George had stated long before John was killed that he always felt the Beatles would get assassinated bc he knew the amount of influence they had on the world. And he was absolutely correct. John Lennon would have been elected President a long time ago, and the govt doesnt want anyone in the White House singing songs of peace, not violence.

There is and never will be a band like the Beatles. I grew up listening to them and never looked back. I turned my daughter into a Beatles fan and she is as much informed about them as I am and always will be as long as I’m alive. There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t read something about one or all of them. John and Paul had a unique friendship and their collective talents stand the test of time. I believe 100% that Johns spirit spoke to Paul through his manager’s lyrics. The Beatles ending was a huge loss but as long as their music is alive so is their spirits. They laid the foundation for every band of this generation and those to come. Friends have differences that’s life. The fact that they found common ground before Johns untimely death means so much. They loved each other and they were each different people which made them and their creative ways so remarkable. Rest in peace John and George! God bless you Paul and Ringo. ❤️

My dad is just as obsessed with them as I am with NSYNC. Lol. And, thanks to that, I have a very deep appreciation for their music. I'm also obsessed with their music, especially the last one that just came out. Dad's getting a vinyl for Christmas cuz...why not? He should have it as part of his collection since he still has his record player from way back when and literally has every single Beatles record from the 60s. Good quality is relatively speaking, pretty sure it's not the same quality as his actual records from the 70s. But, it's still a Beatles record with their new song that he can play in his office. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Thanks to Dad, I have learned a lot about the Beatles. The history of how they began, all the in-betweens, AND the end. Including John Lennon's death in 1980. It amazes me how much I remember from growing up and listening to him tell me all about them thru the eyes of a 20-something-yr-old living life in the 60s. At first, he was in the Philippines. But, by the 70s (summer of 1970) he had come to America to finish his medical studies which is where he started the collection of records. Mom says he was always like a little kid in the candy store and couldn't wait to show her what he bought (they were just dating at the time). I guess, as someone who wasn't quite Americanized yet, lol, he felt he was living literally the American dream being able to purchase modern American records with his own hard earned money. At least, that's how he put it. It's the little things in life we should appreciate. It gets harder and harder since everything is about technology advancements, hurrying up to go nowhere and fast, etc. But, sometimes we need to just chill and appreciate the little things like being able to buy a Beatles record. Everyone's like "I want more", including myself. We should start enjoying the stuff we already have now. Jeez, it has just occurred to me that as I'm typing this, that last part sounds just like my mom. She's always telling both my niece and myself that "you don't NEED this" or "that" and to appreciate what we have, especially in a time where prices of things just won't stop increasing. ❤️❤️❤️

They were best mates and in some ways even closer than family - with their shared bond for loving music and loving creating music being large part of helping them heal after they both lost their mothers at an early age. A significant difference is that despite losing his Mum, Paul had a really great Dad, Jim McCartney who was also a part-time musician and a younger brother Mike, who along with his larger extended Liverpool family helped to keep him grounded and gave him a sense of who he was when away from the what became a goldfish bowl at the height of Beatles' fame and later business pressures. John was not blessed with either of those first two critical emotional supports. His real Dad had run away back to sea and, having lost his somewhat bohemian Mum Julia who had encouraged his early guitar-playing,he was famously raised by his Aunt Mimi. John had an extended family too including a half-sister, but the same closeness and unqualified support enjoyed by Paul wasn't really there. John had some much deeper identity issues as he grew older and when the support of the Beatles and their tight coterie was pulled away, they both implied emotionally. John of course had found Yoko and in her both a girlfriend and mother figure as well as a creative/intellectual muse, but in the end he really needed psychological repair. The primal scream therapy connecting with his emotional pain was a part of it but in the end the real cure was to have a proper family and pull back from the early 70s music business which was drowning in drugs and alcohol, J Lennon's other sources of 'attempted healing' and bond with his new son and his new home. It had worked the first time with Cyn and Julian as John was in no fit state or position to lead that family. Remember despite his various girlfriends, even Paul was not leading a family at that point. It took till well into the late 70s before Lennon was really back together. Then so tragically, we all only had him for five more years. Meanwhile Paul who had hit the bottle a bit after the end of the Beatles spent a couple of years of trialing band-members and going on the road in a smallish way and getting his performing and writing confidence back before, having taught Linda to play keys and sing in a band, put the definitive line-up of Wings together and did what no other Beatle managed: he put together a string of at least 4 albums together of real quality and did a huge world tour and got to the top of the charts again ten years after doing it his old band. He has continued to work - composing and touring since, but now with nothing left to prove about the depth (and popularity) of his solo abilities and need for the others. He truly became a superstar in his own right from 73-77 and though the output is certainly very different to his 60s work, his legacy as a performing lead singer, bassist and songwriter par excellence is totally secure. I saw him play MELB 3 weeks back and he was 'still prancin' - and utterly great with it. He remains one of the sanest men in popular music. And I write this as a big George and John fan. Each really needs their own category post-Beatles and their creative visions and legacies are all quite different. It's really heart-warming to see the later career Ringo had has after a good early start, then becoming directionless and having alcohol issues. His work with the AllStar bands has been great and a lot of fun for audiences and new generations of musicians alike. My take is this: at heart Paul and Ringo connected not just as rhythm section players but because they are entertainers and performers, which is why they've both been drawn to acting. John and George were both artists first with a strong sense of philosophy and philanthropy. I know John was an actor in 1965 but he really didn't want to stick with that line. He became a writer and a socio-political activist, as well as a thinker. The other tack is the one George took, becoming fascinated by Indian culture, music and religion but also philanthropy. Although they didn't perform in it for different reasons, I suspect that at heart, both John and Paul were quite proud of George for putting on the Concert for Bangladesh (and it was very cool to get Bob Dylan back in the public eye: look at the huge body of wonderful work HE'S done since). It was a gesture born from friendship, commitment and love. All those years later it inspired certain other like-minded people to be active in helping others. What a band - what a legacy. It is their influence that is totally without peer. And we're still listening now and celebrating the creative partnership at its core.

I was 7 years old when my Aunt Sharon moved in with us this was January 1964. She brought with her a 2 singles called “I want to hold your hand” and “All my lovin” I listened to those songs every day. Then we heard they were going to be on the Ed Sullivan Show Feb. 9th 1964 I was so excited telling my friends that the Beatles were going to be on that show that weekend. They said who are the Beatles I grabbed a tennis racket jumped on top of their dog house and in my mind at least at the time sounded just like the Beatles doing all my loving and I want to hold her hand. My dad always played the Beatles on the radio when I was too little to fully understand all the lyrics. I learned some of the words and listening to their unique sound made me feel happy inside, even when I though I was too sad to feel happy. They have always been my dad’s and my favorite band. My family and I recently saw the Fab Four (a Beatles tribute band) in concert, and it was genuinely the best night of my life. I deeply wish I could have been alive in the 60’s to see the real Beatles play, but listening to their music today is more than enough for me to feel good.

@user-lj6id5be9j~~Hi there~~A lot of the tribute bands were totally awesome~~But only few could pull it off~~It's so sad they broke up~~But from my point of view it was eventually gonna happen~~People grow up and change their points of view on a lot of issues~~I was about 10 years old, I think when my friends and I went to the theater to see A Hard Day's Night"~~Then about 5 times after that~~When "Help" came to the theater it was the same thing~~We saw "Help" about 8 times or so~~We ate, drank and basically lived The Beatles~~I'll never forget the songs from the movies~~Every now and then I have a Beatles day and listen to just about all of their music~~I still can't believe I rememberd all the lyrics from 99% of their songs~~Thank Gog for youtube so we can still watch them and hear all the great sons~~I still can't believe I know the lyrics like it was yesterday~~Even the songs I really didn't like~~I'm 68 years old now so I should be forgetting everything~~lol~~When it comes to music from back then and now I still remember the lyrics to my favorite songs~~I think I was born with a tumor that when I hear music, it awakens me and turns me into a music freak~~lol~~Literally I was born with music on the brain~Today's music pretty much sucks~~I'm more of a classic rock person~~All the bands from the 70's and going to all the concerts~~Those were the days~~But "Beatles" 4 ever~~💗💗💗

I'm currently 61 years old, and The Beatles have been a huge part of my life, for as far back as I can remember. I still listen to them daily, and it's always like the song is brand new. They not only stand the test of time, they defined the times! When I was in the 11th grade, in 1979, I took a music appreciation course, and when the teacher (who loved them, too) got to The Beatles, he said he was going to let me teach about them (and then the next semester he had me teach his chorus classes about The Beatles); but I told them all then that Them and their music would never go away, for they would always be the most influential force in the world of Rock and Roll (well, them and Buddy Holly); and now, as I've been told, they're even influencing in Country Music (which I never listen to); and that doesn't surprise me. My analogy has always been that they invented the round-wheel of Rock and Roll, and you cannot reinvent the wheel.

Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it. I have more too! The next year The Beatles performed in Houston. It was August 1965. The “Mom” of our friends drove us and was as excited as we were. There were 6 of us girls. As we waited at the hotel where they stayed the crowd grew by the minute waiting on their plane to land. When that happened there was an explosion of fans rushing out of the hotel to get to the airport be. We opted not to do that as it was too dangerous. So we waited outside the hotel to see if they would be coming in. We learned that fans climbed onto the plane and it was a while for police got them off. We were glad we didn’t go there. Finally we glanced over to the door and saw Mal Evans unloading their bags & instruments from a van. The friend who got to meet them the year before is very shy. We convinced her to go to Mal & ask if he remembered her. She did & to our delight he did remember her! He finished his work and got in the car with us. The “MOM” with us took him/us on a short tour of Houston. NASA, etc. At daybreak we went to a coffee shop for breakfast. Mal was so friendly and kind. We got the newspapers right when they were delivered. He autographed them in very nice way. I had just gotten In His Own Write by John Lennon. He autographed that too. So sweet of him! We decided to go back to the hotel & try to sleep. We had tickets to both performances. DOne of my dear friends was and still is an amazing artist. She gave Mal a portrait of George. Mal sent us Christmas cards and mail to her house for quite some time. She always responded with hand drawn cards and short stories. So great that he stayed in touch with us. The portrait of George Harrison was in a book shown on top of his parent’s tv. I hope everyone reading this really long post enjoys it. I enjoy sharing it. Precious memories! ❤❤❤

Can you imagine if John and Paul had showed up at SNL ? I’m dead certain everything else would have been put on hold and they would have devoted all their resources and effort to accommodate those two no matter what happened. Even if they just strummed a couple of acoustic guitars and sang a couple lines, the world would have stopped to watch something that so deserved to happen. I’m so frustrated a better effort wasn’t mounted to persuade it to happen. I think they would have at least temporarily let their frustration with each other slide and just enjoy what they knew gave the world so much adoration. George did a tv interview with Ravi Shankar and was asked out of the blue to try a song on an acoustic. Not with pressure, but just out of love and sincerity. After some hesitation he came up with something and you could tell from the audiences reaction it was a moment of pure love. Real love. It was readily apparent that George really enjoyed it. That same potential was there for Paul and John, but sadly no one was able to get it over to actually try it. I’m sure there are so many people who would have done it differently if they had a chance. Can you imagine a new Beatles album of new material? What would that have done to the world. God dam we were so close.

Hi, Rock Alchemy! My name is Claudio Lessa. I am a 67-year old US broadcast journalist born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. When I was young, I loved to play and sing Beatles songs. I never did very well on the piano or on the guitar, but I could manage some chords so I could sing. Anyway, I have also been a spiritualist ever since my youth. That allowed me to channel messages to friends and family on occasion, but that's something I really never tried to develop seriously (as I should have done). When John Lennon died, I was living in Brasilia, Brazil. At that time, I had sketched some songs but lacked the equipment to record them. A couple of weeks after his passing, I had an idea for a song and I wrote it down. Again, not having the means to record it, it was kept with all my other writings. Later, I moved to the United States. Then I was able to set up a little studio at home at the dawn of the computer era. With my Mac and Opcode Vision, a software predecessor to Garage Band, I was able to play one instrument at a time, create the harmonies and sing the song, titled "From John". I thought it was a fitting title, because the lyrics were a message from him to Yoko and the whole world. It was something that my mind had "donwloaded" years ago, and I believed that I would then be able to deliver the message to his wife. In a coincidence, I met Sean in Washington and told him about it. He was very nice to me, and gave me an address in NYC where I could send the recording to. I then sent the envelope to Yoko Ono at the address given to me by Sean. A few weeks later I got the recording back with a letter signed by one of her assistants telling me that Yoko Ono did not accept or take any recordings from "aspiring artists". I got really upset and sent a letter back to the guy telling him I was a well-established broadcast journalist, I was no artist, had no intention of becoming one, that my sole objective was to deliver a message to Yoko Ono, which I felt I had channeled from John Lennon. I was very upset by the whole thing. I was not expecting any financial reward or anything of that nature, so even though the guy wrote back apologizing and asking me to send the recording again, I did not do it. Today, some 40 years after I got his message, I still feel the need to send it to her. The only partof the message that is not current anymore is when he says "you still have George, Ringo and Paul", since George left us a few years later I wrote down those lyrics. Anyway, if you have any contact with either Yoko Ono, Paul McCartney or any of their representatives, I would be glad to send the music file (something that was impossible to do at that time, when the internet was in its infancy). Again, I am not looking for anything else other than delivering a message, written in the form of a song. Thank you for your attention (and possible cooperation). All the best, Claudio Lessa

I just became a Beatles fan in the fall of 1980, a few weeks after the cold December day, I went to the Ogden Theater in Denver to watch A Hard Days Night. Sitting near us was a lovely lady, a grown up version of the screaming girls in the movie. She was crying and smiling, the sadness of losing a best friend, with the happiness and joy of remembrance of the pure joy that magically once was, but will never be again. I was a fourteen year old boy, and I knew I was in a moment that I will forever see. That Christmas, my sister got me the Blue 1967 -1970 album one of many treasures that my now departed older sister gave me, like the moment in the Ogden Theater, she too I will never forget.

If you can imagine the pressure of being the nucleus of such a phenomenal group, it was bound to happen sooner or later. I had similar thing happen to me... In high school me and a friend started a band together, we were like brothers, and the band lasted for years...then we had a falling out :( We both got on with our lives, in different directions, and I haven't spoken to him for over 30 years, as he has blocked me out. I moved far away, and lost touch, though his siblings still contact me. I don't harbor any bad feelings, but I consider it a personal tragedy to never patch things up, we had many good times together. John and Paul were such a powerful musical force, that we can't stomach the idea of them in a feud, and we don't want it to end that way, making amends is what we all hope for, it can't be any other way. I have to mention, the Beatles were huge influence on us, and we played lots of their songs.

My favorite album is The Beatles (white album) and my mama bear and I were at Sam's Club (basically a retail superstore) and they had the White Album on sale..the remastered 09version ...and I asked my mom ...if you buy that for me I'll go to rehab hahaha...I went home and listened to it over and over....I'd had it before but I sold it for dope and I have more regrets then sky's have clouds but I always regretted that so much....and listened to it over and over ... eventually I got my panties into a suitcase and went away and ....I wouldn't be messaging this if it weren't for the Beatles....they've meant so much to me....basically saved my life....

When we bought our house, we closed on it on Dec 8th, and my first thought was, "well now maybe Dec 8th won't be such a hard day for me." But the joy of my new home hasn't changed the anger and the deep sadness I feel every year on that date. On the day John died, I like many others cried as I grew up with the soundtrack of Beatles music to my life. I even saw them (could not hear them for all the screams!). On the day he passed, we were in an old office in Cheapside, Reading, and I wrote on the large wall behind my desk, "John may be dead, but their music will live on", plus the date. By the end of the day, there were almost one hundred others names on that wall. I was told that the wall was covered with a sheet of hard see through polymer. Wonder how long it stayed there? Such a great song, addressing a deeply important relationship and expressing it so well both musically and lyrically. There were some good tributes around when John died but this truly topped them all in my view. When Paul wrote this short simple song, he managed to channel some recognisable 'Yesterday' vibes and create something profoundly beautiful - both for himself, and also for all of us. I heard him perform it live in his Melbourne concert just last weekend. Poignancy + IF this was the only song Macca had ever written, we'd know he had something special to offer as a songwriter. Instead it's just the tip of a monstrous iceberg!

JANUARY 1964: It was just after New Year's Day in Northern New Jersey, and I was shopping at the local drug store with my mother. I was nearly 10 years old. Mom told me I could pick out a 45 rpm from the record rack. My eyes raced from record to record, as I looked for the perfect disc. Suddenly I found myself staring at a picture sleeve of four guys wearing the longest hair I'd seen outside of an Appalachian hillbilly - and jackets with no collars on them. They looked SO different, that if you had told me, "This band just dropped in from Mars", I might have believed you. Even their name was strange. What Are "Beatles"? I couldn't take my eyes off them. But, in the end, I decided to play it safe and select a doo wop 45. When we got home I put the doo wop record on my turntable, and it was very good. Yet, I couldn't help but wonder about the group with the long hair. A few hours later, my father came home from work, and he had a brown paper bag tucked under his arm. He'd stopped by a record shop in town, where the owner suggested he buy a certain 45 rpm for me. I pulled the record out of the bag - and there it was - the same disc I'd been staring at in the drug store. I put it on my turntable and waited in anticipation. What could this music sound like? Before I knew it, these wild sounds exploded from my record player. It was like nothing I'd ever heard. Chills began running up and down my spine! I'd never felt like this before. It was amazing. Four weeks later, my family sat in front of our black & white TV in the living room - and like 73 million other Americans, we watched The Beatles perform live on the Ed Sullivan Show.

My girlfriend Judy A. (hi Judy!) and I rushed downtown from the Fillmore District to Tower Records (“The largest record store in the known world”) at Columbus and Bay in S.F., and we each bought a copy. Even though an earlier girlfriend, Gayle S. (hi Gayle!) and I had rushed into downtown London to buy Sgt Pepper when it was released on June 1st 1967, it was Judy who schooled me deeply on The Beatles. We lived in a gay house on Grove St and the only Beatles song that worked there was ‘Honey Pie,’ because it was retro music hall. Earlier still, my girlfriend Leslie S (hi Leslie!) and her bestie Val P (hi Val!) and me and my pal Bill S (hi Bill!) we’re returning from a day of skiing on Mt Spokane in early January 1964, when the radio DJ started to play Beatles songs from their first album: Twist and Shout, She Loves You, I Wanna Hold Your Hand. We were electrified. It was RnR but it was SO different. We looked at each other in wonder, and were captivated. A month later we all separately watch them on Ed Sullivan. We progressed with them, and were always pleased, and like everyone had our minds blown by Rubber Soul and Revolver, and Sgt. Pepper. Later in June of 1967, a girl friend (not girlfriend) Sue C. (hi Sue!) hitchhiked out of London on our way to northern Scotland, and on the way went through Liverpool, ferried ‘cross the Mersey, and visited The Cavern, where ‘The Beatles played 292 times.’ [John Lennon’s solo work became psychologically and emotionally important to me in the early 1970s, but that’s another story.]

I was devastated and in denial by the news of the breakup of the Beatles. It marked the end of an era. I was certain that they would reunite until John was murdered. I was 29 years old at that time. The Beatles played a big part in my youth. I identified a bit more with John than with Paul probably because John had more angst. I had not been aware of their feud. I was disappointed by John's relationship with Yoko. No matter what I read about them, I always believe that Yoko played a major role in the demise of the Beatles. Plus, Yoko lacked coolness. I had been looking forward to some of the future albums of the Beatles being even better than Sergeant Pepper's. John wouldn't have relocated to New York if they had not met. Hair on back of neck stood up, we were looking at a living legend . After concert finished most of the crowd was bussed back to Train station , with every one screaming Hey Jude at top of our voices. There are not too many people who possess the magic to have people of all colours, all races absolutely adore them . Paul McCartney is one such , he has given the world a gift that will live on long after he is gone.. But on that night I forgot whatever worries I had. I always liked Buddy Holly, Ricky Nelson, Roy Orbison, and Elvis Presley as a kid in the 1960s. Then I went to see the premiere of A Hard Day's Night and became an instant Bestle fan. In 1980, I bought the Double Fantasy Album and saw an interview with John Lennon talking about turning forty years old. I think he needed a break and time away from being part of Beatles. Watching the Wheels gives you the idea he needed to live his private life away from the public eye. I remember the day when John passed and fans were mourning around the world paying tribute to their fallen hero. I just played my Beatle records in Tribute like I did when Elvis Presley passed away in 1977. Ironically, Ricky Nelson passed away five years later on New Year's Eve 1985. I still haven't played my Double Fantasy Album, I guess. Like Paul McCartney, sometimes we bury our feelings, but they have a way of sneaking out when you least expect them to. RIP John Lennon George Harrison 😢 🥀

The first Beatles record I heard was "Please Please Me" by The Beatles on WLS radio in 1963 in Chicago. Then I heard about The Beatles coming to America and that they were going to be on The Ed Sullivan Show. I also heard they were also going to play at Comiski Park in Chicago. I knew I couldn't go because I was eight years old. Then A Hard Day's Night was showing at my local movie theater. It was only $1.50, so I watched it four times. In those days, you could watch a movie more than once if paid for the first showing. My Mom asked why I stayed so late at the show, and I told her about this amazing new band called the Beatles. I liked Paul McCartney, so I started growing my hair long, but my Mom sent me to my aunts to get a haircut. 💇‍♂️ I told her just a trim, but she gave me a buzz cut, so when I saw what she did to my hair. I called her the b word and left. It was the British Invasion and the beginning of Beatlemania. 😂 I think the song Now & Then was John Lennon's way of reaching out to Paul McCartney to mend their differences. My older brother Frank played guitar and was into the Beatles, too. One day, he brought home some guys who were visiting Chicago from Liverpool England that needed a place to stay. I asked them if they were a fan of The Beatles. I also asked them what it was like in living in Liverpool. They tried to answer my questions, but it was so hard to understand them because they talked so fast. The Beatles then played the Chicago Amphitheater, which my brother got to go see them. I did go see the Beatles movie Help at the movie show, but it was kinda strange for a kid my age to watch. It reminded me of the Monkees TV show. The Beatles cartoons were on Saturday, which we're fun to watch. The Yellow Submarine and Magical Mystery Tour had certain songs I liked. The Sargent Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band marked a change in the musical direction for The Beatles. The White Album was a departure the days of love songs with simple lyrics and bright melodies were over for the Beatles. When The Beatles broke up in1970 and started their solo careers, I still bought their records but it wasn't the same. Still Beatles fans were hoping for a reunion I guess the dream ends with Now & Then!..... 😔

I am really fortunate to have a psychic friend. She lets me know ( and so few others) a lot of what she experiences, and part of this is that famous souls, departed ones, have come to see her, to support her love for singing, and to promote love itself as the most important 'thing' in our lives, whichever "side of the veil" we are on. John has come a number of times to see my friend. He even said a few kind words about me once. He said he visits Yoko, but that she doesn't always know he is there with her. He has 'written' a nice chapter in "Great Minds Speak to You" by Tina Spalding, and he is alive and doing well. "We all shine on"- and we all live on. Beloved John is no exception! Yes. I think he could have inspired those words to communicate to Paul! 💖

No group or music has ever made me feel as happy and wonderful as a Beatles. As an Italian man. We have a traditional Christmas Eve celebration. I was making gravy and frying meatballs for Christmas dinner. And listening to one station that were playing nothing but Beatles songs from A-to-Z. I was so happy I couldn’t even put on Christmas songs. I was almost about to tell my family you all go to the Christmas Eve celebration. I’m just gonna finish cooking. I was on a Beatles high. I felt like I was in heaven, but it was Christmas Eve, and I wanted to see all my family, so it would of been nuts not to go so got into the car. Everyone had on the Christmas songs on the radio. And that’s ok but that’s the power of the Beatles to❤️me anyway can’t wait to listen to the new song!

My Uncle Tom who was only 6 weeks old when his father, my grandfather, passed away. He was the biggest Beatles fan I had ever known. My mom who was 9 years older remembers when one of The Beatles movies came out, she had taken him to see it as a teen. When she went to pick him up, he came running out begging to stay for a second show. She was married by then, but he was SO excited she just couldn’t resist. She gave him more money, and went back after the second show to pick him up again. He was my biggest influence in 60’s rock music. He actually had tickets to Woodstock, but my grandmother wouldn’t let him attend at only 16. The youngest of the 4 siblings, we sadly lost him in 2013. He was a lonely hippie. He left everything to me, but I was the youngest, and only niece. My older cousins were more like brothers to him, (6,7, and 8 years younger than he) and like a fool, I relinquished his Beatles records to the 3 of them. He had the best sense of humor, was a tremendously talented old school tool & die maker, loved his music, and was extremely creative like his father. I hope he’s in Heaven hanging with John, George, Jimi, Janis, John Bonham, and Jim Morrison having the time of his life! 🎶💖🎶

My first concert was the Beatles in Cleveland Ohio August 14, 1966. My friends and I couldn’t afford buying tickets. It was Sunday afternoon day of the concert and we took a bus to downtown Cleveland just to see if the Beatles were hanging around. The public square was typically deserted on the weekends and that day was no different. We made our way to the Municipal stadium where the Browns and Indians played and tonight the Beatles would play. Circling the outside wall we came upon a large gate that was open enough to slip under and suddenly we were inside. A kid who was probably a child of a vendor maybe 7 or 8 years old stopped us saying “ you wanna hide?” Then took us up the narrow catwalk to the roof top in between the gates. We stayed up there all afternoon watching the stage and dressing room’s being trucked in , unloaded and set up. Eventually the concert started we left the rooftop and we slipped into 4 seats. Being sold out every seat had a ticket so the ushers would politely ask us to move back to our seats and let the people with tickets have these seats. We were asked to move by every usher in every section finally ending up in the stairwell while Beatlemania gripped the crowd. The screams were deafening. We kept looking back at the ushers where they were in a huddle all pointing to us and shaking their heads. Then they started marching towards us. We followed the stairs down towards the field stopping at the cement wall behind third base. The Beatles were in the shallow outfield behind second base playing Paperback Writer. The ushers we’re closing in on us so we jumped over the wall landing where the police line was and a snow fence 6 feet below. To our amazement and relief 20,000 kids followed us and we disappeared in a sea of Beatle fans. Everyone rushed the stage. They stopped the concert dragging John away from the mic as we touched the flatbed trailer that was used as a stage. The DJ from WHK radio begged the audience to return to your seats or the Beatles will not play anymore. Eventually everyone returned to their seats and the Beatles played 2 more songs. We made it home and never told our parents we saw the Beatles and they never asked.

Death can never separate those who have a soul connection. John and Paul had that all the way down the line. The fabric may have been ripped, but nothing that couldn't be mended. I truly believe John has made himself known to Paul in many, many ways. And when music is involved it vibrates on a higher level and reaches beyond the physical. I can honestly say this of all the Beatles. George and Ringo and Paul shared that same connection, though I believe it was more deeply entrenched between John and Paul in the early years because of their song-writing. Ringo has always had that ability to speak about that love between them all and it does my heart good to believe that John and George are reaching out from beyond the veil to tap them on the shoulder and saying, "Hey, guys... still here." ♥

I grew up in the 60's listening to Hard Day's Night songs until I forgot about them because of the Monkey's TV show songs. In 1975, I saw the movie Help! and I loved every song the Beatles played there. I started to do research about who were the Beatles, found some books with their biography, a list of songs and albums ( I bought them all). I had an uncle in Italy who met the Beatles in person because he was a policeman on duty when they performed in Milan, Italy, on June 24, 1965. Back stage, they gave him a picture with their autograph, which he sent to me during the 80's. The Beatles were unique in music, fashion and recording technology, and inspired many other musicians to follow in their foodsteps. I was intrigued with the stories and history they told in the songs. I sang every lyric and felt the love they had. No one really understood me but I can see talent or in this case hear real talent. Many music instructors claimed I had perfect pitch but that didn't matter to me. It was the emotion behind it. There were some bands that broke through but this band was something special. I love this song and yes, I believe John did reach out to Paul. They had such a special bond, it only makes sense. The Beatles music has been the Soundtrack of my life. It began when my brother and I as kids plopped ourselves down on the floor right in front of our small black and white TV. I was only 8 & he was 16 yet even with our 8 yr age difference, it affected us both profoundly! It was the beginning of a life long love of music and The Beatles. Their album was the first one I ever bought & it only cost $2.00 & I still have it! I was lucky enough to see Paul in concert 2 times over the years & it was amazing to me how I could just close my eyes and I was back to the 60’s listening to the Beatles live in concert! ❤

This is great, @indyrailgirl! The Beatles have always been able to unite people and generations and bring us together with our shared passion for them. How great that you can take that album out of the collection and it was The Beatles! Seeing Paul live must have been incredible-a real nostalgic trip to the 60s. What’s your favorite Beatles album or song that always takes you back to those days?

If he hadnt been killed there's so much that could have happened. Anyone can get mad at their best friend but true friends never truly forget each other. With John having a wife and family its not wrong for him to ask Paul for a heads up to come over. I love all four of these guys so much I've loved them since the anthology came out. I was around 8 or 9 and im 37 now. My Beatles story is like they've been with me since i was a child through their music and i feel like they are part of my family. I look at Paul and Ringo and want to tell them they aren't alone in missing John and George. Ive had a lot of relationships break up with me because my obsession with these 4.

I loved the Beatles so much ! Still do. I was born in 1955 so I'm a bit younger than them. I was such a Beatle fan that i had Beatle bubblegum cards glued on my bedroom walls with butchwax. I then took them down put them in scrapbooks along with many new pictures and articles, i still have them. I spent all my money on magazines, and Beatle records, albums, 45s etcs. I even had bobbinhead Beatles dolls on my dresser till my cat knocked them of. I got married had kids one went into the Marine corp and found himself cleaning his rifle while singing a Beatle song. I brainwashed my sons. I will always love them! I have movies, t shirts, cassettes, albums, a lunchbox purse, dvds, and cds. I cried and cried when John died as I'm sure everyone did. Love you all Beatles thank you for all the Great music.

Although I was more a fan of the Stones, I loudly screamed out the songs of the Beatles. As a teenager I looked up to my eldest brother who had long hair just like the Stones and the Beatles.. I do love the songs more and more.. I still love The Stones, The Beatles and last but not least The Beegees.. All their music made us pubers to a development liking music.. I deeply thank them for all their music, songs and performances . ❤

I believe John Lennon sent a message to Paul McCartney thru the Carl Perkins song My Old Friend. Too many things all line up for it to be accidental. Perkins staying at McCartneys home. The words of the song seeming from nowhere with exact phrase John spoke to Paul. No way Perkins would have known about that last conversation. Then the photo shoot in 1996 when the white peacock suddenly appears. That's just sooo John Lennon. He was definitely reaching out from beyond. I have my own real life experience to base from. The death of both my parents in 2017. Mom passed first in February. On that day I was standing beside her bed. My cousins were seated near the window of the room. Outside in the nearby tree, a white dove landed on a branch. It was soon joined by a second dove. Both doves moved into the larger tree of the coutryard. They sat there briefly, then flew away together. This was in the afternoon close to 3:00 pm when my Mom took her last breaths. I was the one who said it. One dove was my Mom, the other was the Holy Spirit picking her up. It's too specific a thing to happen by chance. And so is the peacock strutting into the photo. It was John's way to tell the other three Beatles his spirit was present.

Yes I was so fortunate throughout my teen years to have the Beatles. I was in awe of their sound, instrumental, lyrical, and creativity. However, in 1970 I was eighteen years old. My oldest brother took his own life. I was devastated. The Beatles had already broken up and soon there after George Harrison’s All Things Must Pass album came out. It was exactly what I needed grieving as I was. Especially the song Behind That Locked Door. Listening to it countless times it was as if my older brother was singing it as I found him behind a locked door. The decades have gone by in my seventies now but that song remains as fresh and meaningful to me as ever. We do not remember days we remember moments. Behind That Locked Door is one of those moments.

John seemed to be an extremely impressionable person. This is evident in his description of Allen Klein in the series Get Back which apparently clouded his judgment which led to disastrous outcome for the group. As smart as he was, he seemed to be influenced and overpowered by stronger personalities like Yoko.
