Some of the best finds include perfectly good food, nike jordans, car seats, gamestop nintendi wii games and things that piss me off (make me mad) that could be very useful. I work at a grocery store and we always throw away food "on the expiration date" but usually our vendors tell us the expiration date they put on there are usually weeks before the actual expiration. Usually once we reach the date we usually take home the foods for ourselves because it's still good for up to a week or two

I worked retail for 20 yrs and when you have things you can't sell the manufacturer will tell you to destroy it. I use to get so upset because we would have to cut clothes, books and school supplies up when so many people could use it. It's really sad

pamela Osbourne I'm going to be starting a dog health channel soon ( soon as I get a computer) been using ph as computer. Anyway, I have some helpful tips for economizing while adding to your dogs health. In the meantime there's a website that gives low income people free pet food. I'm trying to remember the name, it's a big online pet food place. You have to qualify by submitting certain documents. I'll edit this post when I find the site.

Because if the food makes people sick then they get in trouble. It’s in the trash for a reason. If somebody brings back dog food or it’s open in the store, you don’t know if it’s been tampered with. You need to think why they do it.

I sure hope that you guys are responsible and clean up after yourself. When my children were young we used to go behind the grocery stores to get food out of the dumpsters. We ate very well thanks to those 2 stores that let us scavenge. They knew that we never left a mess and let us continue even though the store policy was not to allow it. They told us that others were denied the privilege because those people left stuff outside of the dumpster. My children are grown now, but I am very grateful for those stores letting us look for the good food that was thrown out with the bad when we were struggling. We never did receive food stamps or welfare. We found a way to help ourselves get through the hard times. I was never ashamed for what I did. At least my children never went hungry. God bless y'all!

The only reason they usually don't donate dog food if it has been opened or returned it puts them at risks for lawsuits. Whenever you don't know exactly what has happened to the food or if it has been contaminated by anything.

A friend of mine worked as a garbage man and him and his coworker (and friend since they went to the same school when they were younger) found so much good shit thrown out, that he ended up leaving it behind so him and his friend could pick it up after work. Like 75% of his furniture in his house was reclaimed "trash" in excellent condition. He said they easily got ~1000$ worth of decent stuff each week.

I'd just take it home. Or something. Or at least put it in a separate from the trash bag so anyone down on their luck could at least have something semi decent to get them through the week. Not really healthy, but better than starving, ya know? If I owned a store, that's what I would do. I would probably put it next to the dumpster rather than in it with a sign that says, "Semi decent food free for taking" or something. That way they wouldn't have to dive through all that filth to get something to eat. Though it would only be canned or packaged foods, nothing that would go bad quickly. Still not the best, but not the worst either.

ButterBum Bystander they are supposed to donate it here in NC, it's the law. but some stores get shut down if they get caught/turned in for throwing it out. like if it's a few days over the date, they donate. otherwise it's useless and harmful. but packaged foods are not easily expired.

If you go a few days after Father's Day and Mother's Day and Valentine's Day you will find cards too, with the pet food check dog food advisory to make sure there's no recall, my pet store does not cut the bags and I donated so much that was not recalled, Awesome video Fam as always!!

Look idk if that guy actually fed his dog that food but if it's not sealed you dont know what someone could have Done to that food. There could have been raccoons or rats that could've pissed in food or could've transfered some disease or something. That is not safe. This could get your dog sick.
