Thank you so much for all of the knowledge you share with us! I have a 3-month-old male veiled chameleon. He has white buildup around his nose, I have read that it could be from salts or excess calcium. I am giving him Repti Calcium without D3 every day except for when I give him Reptivite with D3 twice a month. I came back to this video to see if I was using too much calcium. Could it be that I am adding too much calcium to his food? I am only using distilled water in his misting and fogging, but I used bath water when I washed, repotted, and watered all of his plants for his new home a month ago. Could it be the salt is emitting from the plants?
@NeptunetheChameleon Жыл бұрын
I have never heard of the white nose buildup being an excess of calcium. It is totally normal for this to happen and it sounds like your supplements are correct. Just make sure you are providing a light dusting on the bugs, and you should be fine. I don't think your plants are problematic either.

I'm a beginner keeper and have found your videos so helpful!! However, I'm also Deaf and rely on closed captions to get the info. You use auto-generated captions, which are known as "craptions" in the Deaf community due to their inaccuracies. The auto-generated captions in your videos aren't always accurate, so I miss out on what could be important info. Would you mind getting legitimate English captions for your videos? There are several resources/options available. There are companies that will caption the videos for you, such as one company that will caption for as cheap as $1/video minute. I've also seen KZbinrs ask their viewers to volunteer to caption the videos for them in whatever language(s) the viewers are fluent in so their videos can be as accessible as possible.
@NeptunetheChameleon Жыл бұрын
Hello and thank you for taking the time to bring this to my attention. While I would love to pay for a company to create captions for my videos, the channel is not in a place financially to be able to do that. Even for $1/minute with hundreds of videos on KZbin already it would easily be over $1,000 for me to add professional captions. That being said, I want to strive for my videos to be inclusive, and make sure you have access to correct chameleon care info so I can offer you two things. First, I found a way for me to edit auto captions on my videos -- so moving forward I will make an effort to edit those to be as accurate as possible. Secondly, chameleonacademy.com/ & www.chameleonforums.com/ are two great written resources when it comes to chameleon care and would suggest also checking those out. Hope that helps!!

You can definitely do what you suggested or you can get the plain calcium (green label) and use that daily and then the multivitamin and calcium with D3 1-2x a month depending on the species. I went to a PetSmart the other day and they were selling a chameleon for adoption. The chameleon was 100% egg bound you could literally see the outline of the eggs inside of her, not to mention that they never put calcium powder on their crickets which made the chameleon shake every time it walks so it probably has calcium deficiency, not to mention that they had a bunch of plastic over a laying bin and they missed the enclosure once a week
