Totally agree, I was using the KSL shot process till a French olympic trainer told me to use his linear process. In no time I started to have a sore bow shoulder and it stopped as soon as I came back to the KSL shot. I informed him in order to be aware that there is not a single shot process and that the best for me was the KSL.

Totally agree. What works best for your physique and groupings. If you want to try different techniques, a paper plate on a target butt, write on the plate the date and what you are changing. Shoot a couple of ends.Then you have a permanent record....

Fantastic content! 💯 Your tips on technique will definitely help me improve my shooting form. Thank you for making archery so approachable!

Agreed. Archery technique theory is quite polarised. None of them are best or worse. And really it doesn't matter. As long as you are consistent and have technique that is sustainable. If you have technique you can reproduce everytime consistently without injury risk. It really is just a matter of shooting a tonne of arrows at that point. I dare to bet that most elite archers purely shoot on shot-feel and instinct since their technique is extremely ingrained by the 100's if not 1000's of arrows they shoot per week.

This video has some good points. But if you are going to talk about KSL shot cycle at least read the KiSik Lees book Total Archery first. In this video there are some common misconceptions of KSL technique. Another thing; I think that most if not all elite archers nowadays draw more or less angularly. Their draw side scapula moves towards spine and their drawing elbow and shoulder follows angular line while expanding. Choi Misun and Kim Woo Jin for example are good examples of angular draw. In 2023 Asian Championships where Choi won even her front stab pointed right from the target in set position.

Refreshing! So perhaps, where the arrow strikes, matters most.

Very good video, but... In KSL shot cycle actually drawing hand moves linearly and not so far around as Ashe Morgan described. Actually what Ashe described here is a common misunderstanding of the KSL shot cycle. The arrow and front stab of the bow are pointing right from the target in set position (if you are RH shooter) and the elbow is behind arrow line from the beginning to end. The bow actually turns while drawing and when you anchor the arrow points to the target. Drawing hand moves linearly.

Every coach in the US need to watch the first half of this video.

Good info, thank you.

I just watched an USA vs India match from 2013 in Ogden. The loading technique of Jayanta Talukdar from India is really different from most of what I've seen so far, and yet the archer definitely seems more than able to shoot amazing scores and looks very consistent. That's all that matters.

So, I have two questions. What is the difference between a principle and a method (i.e. KSL, angular, etc). While I agree that methods like KSL are a pedological device to teach people, it also contains principles, like shoulder alignment. How do you distinguish those? Second, how do you innovate your form, like the case of Unruh, when you have little experience? You believed you could not get your draw elbow into alignment, but you were actually just justifying that deficit. When do you decide that a principle does not work for you, when it could be simply bad execution?

Two very good questions. Hope someone answers eventually.

If everyone aims for shoulder alinement and to lead with the elbow and load the scapula does it matter which technique you use i dont think it matters as long as you get there.

Perfect video. I pull straight to the face at 52 pounds with slight sholder pain and scared to change because I'm shooting 645-670. Fml
@matthewvassar9686Ай бұрын
Try leading your draw from the elbow and then anchor. It helped me with the pain and increased consistency for me. Different things work for different people. But who knows? It might help. 🏹 🎯 ❤️

To me, personally, Im Dong Hyun and Wei Chun Heng is the most elegent, efficient and simple technique among other archers

Ciao, guardo sempre i tuoi video. Il corpo umano non può effettuare movimenti lineari ma può solo effettuare movimenti angolari. Tenere la mano della corda vicino al braccio dell'arco provoca una tensione sulla mano. Più attivi muscoli più fatica farai.

as long as you do the exact same technique every time you draw... it wont matter witchone is it
