lol, I like how you pause for dramatic effect over and over to repeat the same thing. as if "sons of God" isn't later given to Israel (Deut. 32:18-19) clearly meaning in Deut. 32:8 all people who were made in God's image as Gen. 1:26. That God is the one who divides the portions yet gives himself the smallest one doesn't strike you strange at all, esp since there were no Israelites And when verse 17 doesn't fit your interpretation you write a peer-reviewed article (because one is all it takes to convince all scholars), except verse 21 also exists. Bart Ehrman wannabe

There is no doubt that there are textual differences to be found when surveying various source texts that precede the Masoretic rendition and its subsequent translations. However to ascribe intent (as some other posters to this thread have done) because it aligns with a purported cause, is a less than cautious approach. I am reminded of the Book of Job and the final word given by the Creator. We should all be a little more circumspect in our deliberations on the 'whys' and more thorough in our examination of the 'whats' - as you, my brother, have so masterfully done here. Kudos! Perhaps you might consider a video on the differences between the Western vs. Eastern interpretive processes. Love to see more on context. Evidently, it is needed.

I came out of the halls of academe and want to say how rare it is for scholars like Dr. Heiser to share his learning with the populace rather than exercising exclusive possession of it. He is a God-given blessing to us.
@katyekel

Why that is? I would have thought if a scolar finds earth shattering interpretation (backed by actual facts and other scriptures) of the Bible that he would undoubtedly want to share it as many people as possible.

@@katyekel Exactly my thoughts, too. Being a teacher myself, I know the heart of a teacher is to share and dispense knowledge. A person who is a teacher at heart surely cannot keep knowledge and especially discoveries to him/herself but itches to share it.

Mike is sorely missed. Nevertheless, he exhibits what I often see with the scholars, and that is they sometimes can’t see the forest because of the trees, i.e, they miss the big picture. The Essenes of Qumran were an outcast, minority group not part of the official priestly class of the Second Temple Period. In contrast, Lea Himmelfarb of Bar-Ilhan University makes a compelling case that the Masoretes were priests that began during the STP and thereby were entrusted with the Scriptures in accordance with Deuteronomy 31. It is difficult to believe that God would allow His true word to be kept silent for a thousand or more years until a Bedouin herder accidentally discovers it in the 1940s associated with non-official, non-priest separatists. Moreover, Verse 9 provides context that the people of Israel were in mind; “sons of God” makes no sense. Verse 9 begins with “for” - meaning because- from Hebrew ki, meaning God set the bounds of the nations according to the sons of Israel because Israel is His portion. Verse 8 is prophetical and foreword-looking, even though Israel did not exist at the time of the Babel rebellion. Mike was too often looking for support for the Divine Council when he did not need to do so.

@@wildtimes3368 sp heiser is wrong because it doesn't make sense to you?
@wildtimes3368
@wildtimes3368 4 ай бұрын
@@craigimeI said “it” makes no sense, specifically to argue the true text to be “sons of God” rather than “sons of Israel.” The context, as shown in verse 9, is about Israel (Jacob) not the Divine Council. Moreover, verse 8 says “sons of Adam,” indicating the overall context is about humans, not the angelic host. To sandwich in “sons of God” between “sons of Adam” in verse 8 and “Jacob” in verse 9 makes no sense. I understand completely what Mike was saying, I just disagree. The Jews worldwide recognize the MT, not LXX or DSS, so it seems to me that if one is going to debate a Jew about who Jesus is, it would be best to debate them with a text they recognize. In some future day when they “will look upon me [Jesus] whom they have pierced” (Zechariah 12:10) upon His return, they’ll be remembering that passage from the MT, not DSS or LXX. Unlike many scholars, even more conservative ones like Heiser, they don’t seem to believe God preserved His word in accordance with Psalm 119:89 and Psalm 138:2, as well as other, similar, passages. Dr. Floyd Nolen Jones and others have examined this issue at length, and it is sad that the seminaries keep pumping out godless graduates like Bart Ehrman who get lost in the wasteland of textual criticism.

@@wildtimes3368 i don't even know where to start... first of all, what does people like Bart Ehrman have to do with this? Ehrman and his ilk left Christianity because their faith was weak- it wasn't textual criticism that made him leave. Secondly, you're saying that "sons of God" isn't the original reading simply because it "makes no sense" to you? thankfully your opinion doesn't hold much weight... Sons of God is undoubtedly the original reading- not only because it is from an older witness, but because it best explains the variants. The LXX has "angels of God" (presupposing bnei elohim). the MT and the LXX just interpreted it differently; the MT assuming that sons of God referred to Israel and the LXX assuming it refers to the angels. The context doesn't dismiss it either- that's a frankly ridiculous argument. "The Jews worldwide recognize the MT, not LXX or DSS, so it seems to me that if one is going to debate a Jew about who Jesus is, it would be best to debate them with a text they recognize." what does that have to do with anything? who talked about debating Jews? we're talking about the original reading of a verse. Who do you know that uses Deut 32:8 to debate jews in the first place? "they don’t seem to believe God preserved His word in accordance with Psalm 119:89 and Psalm 138:2" This is again according to your opinion? Who told you they don't believe God preserved his word? Psalm 138:2 isn't even talking about preserving his word- and again, what does that have to do with this?? If "sons of God" is the original reading, then of course he preserved his word.

Angels are beings God can create whenever he wants, so it doesn’t even matter. It doesn’t help that man that are accepted by God are his sons too. Thus, to clarify the text, God used “Sons of Israel” to describe who were in his kingdom at the time of Babel, both man and angel.

I always thank my Lord for giving me such a chance, an eye opening clues from every direction. I am Ethiopian and I can read the oldest Ethiopian language, Geez. Whenever I found such a mistranslation clues out there, especially on the OT scriptures, what I will always do is to go and check it on the Geez text. Regarding this topic, you know what I found here? It says 'according to the Number of the Angeles of God'. So, my friends this claim for the distortion of the authentic and righteous content of the text is strong.

Great advice and great share! Thank you! In my view, the best scholars (regardless of background) all agree that the "inerrancy" claim about the Bible applies to the original text. We can verify which translations are more accurate precisely by their adherence to the original text (which we are about to ascertain, keep track of, verify over time, etc using other means like ELS, archeology, and context proofs). I 100% agree with you that you can trust the Ethiopian version over ESV and others simply by the fact that it better and more closely resembles the original text. God's blessings for you!

dear sir.God surely loved you for the efforts and times you've been poured dedicated to God.But God's word and deed shall not limited to translations only. Why did God allowed Sarah captured by unnamed Pharaoh?Why did God allowed Joseph to be sold and elevated in Egypt? Why did God elevated Daniel in Nebuchadnezzar reign?Why did God,through Isaiah prophecied choose His 1st gentile Masiach Cyrus?Why did God sent Israel to war against surrounding nations,if God Himself can obliterated Sodom and Gomorrah with His own Hands? So you see,even in Old Testaments, God already started to offer grace and salvation to the gentiles. Well,despite of the arrogance and stiff necked of our oldest brother, israel.

Deuteronomy 32:8 When the most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel. Luke 3:38 Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God. Well I'd Adam was the son of God, guess sons of God is in order , aswell as Isreal , who was the seed of Jacob , and Jacob comes from Isaac, Abram - Shem, to Seth to Adam to God. The problem lies with the linage of Cain to Lameck, it ends with Naamah as the first daughter of man bu name . The sons of God took daughters of man , that would be daughters of angels and that is why a man and a jong man was slayed for 70 x 7 avangance. That daughter of man was of Lamecks second wife , and Noah ore Ham, Shem, ore Japeth took her as wife. The sons of man /angel was the linage of Abel. The daughters of man was the linage of Cain . Cain , the seed of the tiller of the ground Abel the seed of the man to dress and keep the garden Seth as the seed apointed by God because Cain slew Abel. Seth was the likeness and image of Adam as a son. Cain was gotten from the LORD, as a man. Abel was the gotton of God as the seed of the keeper , not Cain from the LORD as the seed of the tiller. Even the Holy Bible red letters edition 1684 confirms it

Genesis 6:3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. Revelation 21:17 And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel. Angel refers to a man aswell. Their earthy man aswell as heavenly man . 1 Corinthians 15:45-50 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

I would say it has specific entries for these "sons of God" such as Ps82. it can be read as a chastisement for the watchers failures... God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods. 2 How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah. 3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy. 4 Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked. 5 They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course. 6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. 7 But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes. 8 Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations.

@Robin Wood Its more than clear that the plan of God includes all nations through Christ, who was the fulfillment of Abraham's Seed. One could argue that now in Christ we are all Israel in a spiritual since, but some debate taking it that far. What we are sure of, is that in Christ, all barriers have been broken down and Israelite or gentile (the nations) are all included in God's plan. Psalm 86:9 alone proves my point, but that is a drop in the bucket to all the scripture we have on this subject. Dr. Heiser covers this as well in much more detail.

John 14: 21 He who has My (Jesus) commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.” 22 Judas (not Iscariot) *said to Him, “Lord, what then has happened that You are going to disclose Yourself to us and not to the world?” 23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me. John 7: 37 Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “[g]If anyone is thirsty, [h]let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From [i]his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’” 39 But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

As a Roman Catholic I often have to defend my faith against attacks by fellow Christians (very sad). Inevitably I rely on scripture because, believe it or not, that's what our doctrines are founded on. So I often come across differences in English bible translations during these debates. Inevitably, the RSCVE revised Catholic bible is the closest to Tanakh / OT scriptures. Like it is for Deuteronomy 32:8.

When I read about Joan of Arc, she claimed to have heard voices from Jesus about an inheritance to France to a King, and then was later martyred for being a witch and hearsay. She was burned at the stake, and her last words were "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus". She was only 19 years old. I keep getting a feeling that a lot of the Old Testament may be corrupted through spirits of the fallen angels. I think all born again Christians should pray daily for guidance in order to fully discern correct information and also should concentrate on the New Testament instead of the old testament. The Holy Spirit was given to born again Christians as a guide and mentor to the truth. I believe we are not equal to God, as all men have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God (says this in the Bible). However, it is only through Jesus Christ, that we can obtain salvation and entry into the KIngdom of God and then become children of God. God bless.

Sure, translation is not 100% perfect, but we still know with 99.9% accuracy, this one verse does not change the entire Bible and too many Christians are 'New Testament only' Christians. Nothing of theological importance or significance has been changed or removed from the pages of the Old Testament, remember this was the same 'Scripture' that the Apostle Paul says is 'God-breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness so the man of God may be equipped for every good work.' (2nd Timothy 3:16-17) The New Testament parallels the Old way more than we realize and one cannot fully appreciate Yeshua, the Jewish Messiah's divine sacrifice for all of humanity, both Jew and Gentile without understanding Old Testament feasts, 7 year time cycles and God's redemptive acts, this is why we should not only read from the New Testament only and we should not only read through our Greek, Platonic, Hellenistic lense and start reading it more Semitically (Jewish, Middle Eastern context in which it was written).

I don't believe God squirreled the true rendering away from His people for two millennia in the DSS at Qumran under a separatist sect that was not part of mainstream Judaism, but I believe He made it available to His people through the Masoretic Text that is accepted by mainstream Judaism and Christianity.

Thanks Mikey!! When God 'knows' us... we produce 'fruits' that are a product (offspring / fruits of the 'spirit') of our 'obedience'. Since the relationship is reciporacal - when we 'draw near'... He draws near. Thus, false Gods cannot 'know' us... and we cannot 'know' them. Explained: When we 'know God' we 'image' God, through obedience to the truth. Because 'false gods' are NOT 'true'... they cannot be 'imaged'. In the same way that we 'listen' to or 'hear' God, He then 'hears' and obeys us... because He MUST honor His promises that He CANNOT 'break'. Hope this makes sense. Shalom!! 👑

Just so people understand, the Masoretic Text is the Hebrew's authoritative text today. It was made by the Masoretes between 980 - 1100 AD which is very recent. The scribes changed the prophetic texts to point away from Jesus as Messiah. This is why a Christian cannot go by the Hebrew...it has been compromised. God preserved the original text within the Septuagint (Greek OT) 2-500 years BC. The Septuagint was the authoritative text of the 2nd temple period and was the text that Jesus used being that in Jesus' time, very few Jews spoke Hebrew language. They spoke Greek, they read Greek and they wrote Greek. For those that want to argue if Jesus spoke Greek or not, think about when Pilate spoke to Jesus in private quarters and questioned him. Where they communicating in Latin or Hebrew? Then came the Dead Sea Scrolls and proved the Masoretic Text was in error and the Septuagint correct and even added some scriptures that had originally been lost. This is why you see differences. Be very careful when reading bibles that run off of the Masoretic Text.

Hello, Dave! A few implications come to mind. 1) As a result of their rebellion in Babel, God divorces the nations and places them under the tutelage of the sons of God. Now, he focuses his attention on creating his own people (Israel). 2) These sons of God are judged in Psalm 82 and are doomed to share the fate of the fallen humanity. 3) Isaiah 11 explains how the nations are going to come back to the fold through the actions of Jesse's Root (Jesus Christ) and Isaiah 24 links the punishment of the host of heavens above with the punishment of the kings of the Earth in the day of the Lord. 4) You understand better where Daniel's prince of Persia and prince of Greece come from. 5) You understand better Paul´s teaching about principalites, thrones, powers or dominions and governors in the high places. According to Paul, it was Jesus' resurrection that brings about their dowfall. Before the cross, when Jesus messed with the demons in Gadara, they called him "Son of the Most High" and asked him why he was messing with them before the appropriate time. After the resurrection Jesus told us to go to all the nations and make disciples, which means the time had come to conquer spiritually the nations and bring the downfall of the spiritual powers that controlled them. A correct interpretation of Deuteronomy 32 doesn´t bring about any change to the Gospel of course, but it enhances our understanding in how God deals with the nations before and after the first coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I'm not a fan of the Message translation, but "divine guardians" is somewhat accurate, but not precise, in the implication of the translation. Judea's sects (warriors/Zealots, workers/Essenes, traders/Sadducee & lawyers/Pharisee) came together in the Temple, on the Foundation of Peace (Jerusalem), to wrestle with their differences, and YHWH spoke from "between the cherubim" (lion, ox, man & eagle respectively). The Temple's destruction left us with The Book: Masoretes changed their text from 'sons of God' to 'sons of Wrestling with God', preseerving the temple activity, and the Christian sect chose four gospels to preserve the Temple's template, with Christ as Cornerstone.

I would too. I like Jordan Peterson, but he was very influenced by Carl Jung, who was a spiritualist similar to the aligns of pagan occults. Similar sort of philosophy. Jordan is a great psychologist and knows his stuff, but he doesn't see the Old Testament as literal, but metaphorical symbology. I think most Christians, including Heiser, sees the accounts as actual history.

I don't think Michael Heiser is suggesting that this was changed to deceive for nefarious reasons. Its possible it was changed to aid in the understanding of what the translator thought with the information he/she had at the time. Michael even says so in his comment on the ESV version dealing with the text. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Can't say precisely what it is ... but there's something wrong with this video and other videos of Heiser SPECIALLY the one about "the divine council" ... Where's the most important part of both The Old and New Testament?, The Sacrifice of our Lord, our Savior, our God Jesus Christ for the redemption of sins? A Scholar can search on and on and on inside the Holy Scriptures, sometimes very interesting when the context is in accordance with the most accurate translation of The Holy Word of God we have, The King James Version, but ... again ... can't say what it is, but something is not right with what Heiser says here and in many other videos, not judging, just expressing a sincere and heartfelt concern, God bless.

Now if you agree with muslim religion then that'll completely contradict that very statement of Jesus being Lord. Not only that but the Quran itself states that if you don't stand on the doctrine of the Christians / Jewish people then you don't have any basis and or concrete foundation. There are other 'corrections' in the Dead Sea Scrolls AND some of the Dead Sea Scrolls were full of errors. If you watch videos by Nehemia Gordon (here on YT, he worked on the DSS), he says it was obvious that some of the scrolls were written but had not be checked for errors, yet and others had. What does that mean? NO ONE writes perfectly. When you're writing something that takes months or years to write, you can make errors from your brain just being tired. When the scribe is done writing, another scribe goes through and corrects his errors. Just because "sons of God" used to be in there does not mean it was correct. AND Genesis was written by Moses (and scribes with Moses), so it WAS written AFTER Israel was a 'nation', or nearly so. PLUS, God knows the end of something before it even starts so numbering the nations according to the Sons of Israel would not be a problem for Him.
@rayyang4708
@rayyang4708 4 жыл бұрын
Jacob (aka Israel) settled in Egypt with his family and 400 years later Moses had to rescued his descendants out of Egypt. The Book of Deuteronomy is a record of Moses' final words to the sons (descendants) of Israel just before they crossed over to the promised land. How could the sons of Israel not have existed when the scrolls were written? The text is all about "sons of Israel" or, if you prefer, sons of "the chosen people of God", substituting Israel for God's chosen people. Although it is true that the nation of Israel was not in existence yet, the Dr made a slight-of-hand trick to deceive his audience by implying that the text is referring to the nation rather than the descendants of Israel. The term "sons of God" were referred to in Genesis as angels - they do not pro-create but were each created individually by God. Perhaps in order to avoid confusion with an already established term, they chose to call it "sons of Israel" in Deu32:8. True, the first part of Deu32:8 talks about the separation of people at the Tower of Babel but the second part refers to the boundaries Moses marked out for the Israelite (Num:34): "he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel" and is tied to the next verse: "For the Lord's portion is his people (descendants of Israel); Jacob (aka Israel) is the lot of his inheritance." Best that we read the Bible daily, chapter by chapter, book by book, over and over, and ask God to engrave His words in our hearts so we are able to identify false teachings instantly. For Bible study, I recommend: www.joncourson.com/teachings . . Blessings!

So you are asserting that the Essenes replaced "sons of Israel " with "sons of God"? Why would they do that? What theological reason would they have? On the converse, would the Masorites (which was a family line of scribes) have a reason to change "sons of God" to "sons of Isrealites"? Could they have been embarrassed by the possibility that it appeared to suggest polytheism and during the Babylon captivity they decided to remove any suggestion of multiple gods. The latter seems to be a reasonable theory. The former does not. And in archeology, the older text is usually used and any change in newer texts suggests that it was altered. You would have to believe that the masorites were not able to keep their older (presumably more reliable) texts but desert dwellers were. This seems to be an conclusion in search of an argument.

@@younescontemplates2845 The archaeological, manuscript, prophetic and Scriptural evidence is overwhelmingly in favor of a very accurate translation. Particularly as we have the writings preserved by the prophets in the wilderness, the followers of the Way, which include Isaiah, Elijah, John the Baptist and Paul. Many copied over 2,000 years ago. But more importantly, the singular TRUTH is evident in each book, as this is an integrated message system. Uniquely, it is a guide to discern which voice is speaking to you. Very important as the walk of faith is obeying Jesus’ voice. Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. When I became born again and that was one of the first things I knew I needed to know is, which Bible is the correct Bible. Having never before believed it really mattered I had no idea how much absolute truth matters! When God led me in the direction of researching it, I would stake my life on the 1611 AV KJV. Those words I spoke a couple years previous that the KJV was evil came up into my memory and grieved me to my core. I wept and asked God to forgive me and I am so thankful that I can hold the words of God, and have full assurance that I have the absolute truth and confidence in my Lord who preserved all of his words according to his promise. Deuteronomy 32 references Genesis before Jacob's time, but I believe the meaning is correct as the Lord was able to foreknow what was to come. The masoretic text says Israel, and older copies of text are not necessarily more accurate. They can be older corrupt versions. Deuteronomy 32 can be understood by knowing Jacob had already existed by then, and showing the foreknowledge of God. This same song of Moses will be sung by overcomers in Rev 15:3, and will carry meaning to the hour of temptation. The flow of context, and meaning is found in the next verse..... vs 9 7Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask thy father, and he will shew thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee. 8When the most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel. 9For the LORD'S portion [is] his people; Jacob [is] the lot of his inheritance. My ESV says it comes from the ASV, not the original languages. Most of the higher criticism stinks to me. I'll stick with my KJV. It has been here since 1611 and founded our nation practically. Lives were shed printing its pages. We fought nations to get it in our language. Blood was spilled getting out in our hands. No other version can say that.

When Deuteronomy 32:8 refers to the “children of Israel”, it’s not referring to the land of Israel, it’s referring to the descendants of Jacob who was later surnamed named Israel after the Most High God of ISRAEL. Isaiah 45:4 KJV [4] For Jacob my servant's sake, and Israel mine elect, I have even called thee by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me. Whether scripture says children of Israel or “sons of God” it still refers to the children of the twelve patriarchs of Jacob/Israel. Then in the New Testament even Christ tells the Pharisees that they are gods according to the law. John 10:33-34 KJV [33] The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. [34] Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? Psalm 82:6 KJV [6] I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. The children of Israel are literally gods in a dead state!

@@agengsatya96 Firstly, nobody by the name “Jesus” ever existed and he wasn’t a European. You can try and debate this but there’s no way around denying that the identity of the true Christ is not that of a white man or Arab-he and the Hebrew people are a race of black people and our identity has purposely been hidden by the institution the world calls “religion”. If you want to believe that Yeshua/Yehoshua transliterates Iesous/Iesus/Jesus/saviour then go ahead, but there’s no history of this individual any where in secular history so your religion only explains a very sketchy understanding of how a non-existent Gentile idol has a transliterated Latin name. Europeans are the ethnic nations of Japheth known as the Gentiles (Genesis 10:2-5 KJV). Japheth Also Diphath. Literal meanings are opened, enlarged, fair or light (father of the Caucasoid/Indo-Europoid, Indo-European, Indo-Germanic, or Indo-Aryan races - Japhethites). Japheth is the progenitor of seven sons: (See Genesis 10:2-5 KJV) False name + false image = false Christ So no; he’s not the Most High God of Israel YHWH he’s Gentile idol created by the Hellenistic Romans used to psychologically (spiritually) deceive the world. Christ is OF God (Upper case G) not the Most High God of Israel. The word “God” has a double meaning: a) the Most High God of Israel YHWH, the Father of Creation b) the hosts of heaven or Elohim (im in Hebrew makes a word plural) Christ is the Son of the hosts of heaven (God). This is why Genesis 1:26 KJV says; God (plural) said, Let “us” (plural) make man in “our” (plural) image! It’s ridiculous to ignore simple words such as “son” and “begotten” to assume Christ is the Most High God of Israel YHWH the Father and sent himself to earth as a son while claiming to do his own works and die for the sins of the world to end up sitting on the right hand of himself as the High Priest of Israel Son of God and the Most High God the Father YHWH. He never proclaims himself to be the Father and Creator, but he does claim to have been there when the world was created. John 17:5 KJV [5] And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. John 1:1 KJV [1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. PARAPHRASE; In the beginning was Christ, and Christ was with the most high God of Israel YHWH, and Christ was the host of heaven. John 10:30 KJV [30] I and my Father are one. This is a way of saying; there’s no “i” in team, “all for one and one for all”, I am the seed of my Father, I am in accordance with the hosts of heaven. Christ is a god (lowercase g) and so are the children of Israel. There are gods living among us and Christianity is deceiving billions and defiling the children of God whom are the temple of God but making them worship a false God and false Christ. John 10:34 KJV [34] Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? Psalm 82:6 KJV [6] I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 KJV [16] Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? [17] If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. With all this being said, you’re in a religion of a false God. Exodus 20:3 KJV [3] Thou shalt have no other gods before me. You’re worshipping a Gentile idol that emulates the Hebrews as Gentiles and created the wealthy worldwide church system that perpetuates European colonialism and imperialism. Galatians 5:19-20 KJV [19] Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these ; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, [20] Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, em·u·la·tion /ˌemyəˈlāSH(ə)n/ noun effort to match or surpass a person or achievement, typically by imitation. But you want me to go find YOUR ridiculous source of Pontius Pilate’s account of a light skin, light haired Christ that contradicts the Hebraic, dark skin, Afroasiatic Christ that looked like Adam? If you can’t even show it to me then why would I bother to look it up? Adamah (Biblical Hebrew : אדמה) is a word, translatable as ground or earth, which occurs in the Biblical account of Creation of the Book of Genesis.[1] According to the creation myth[1] of the Abrahamic religions, he was the first man. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Y-chromosomal_Adam In human genetics, the Y-chromosomal most recent common ancestor (Y-MRCA, informally known as Y-chromosomal Adam) is the most recent common ancestor (MRCA) from whom all currently living males are descended patrilineally. The term Y-MRCA reflects the fact that the Y chromosomes of all currently living human males are directly derived from the Y chromosome of this remote ancestor. The analogous concept of the matrilineal most recent common ancestor is known as "Mitochondrial Eve" (mt-MRCA, named for the matrilineal transmission of mtDNA), the most recent woman from whom all living humans are descended matrilineally. Y-chromosomal Adam lived at a time very close to, and possibly after, the migration from Africa which is believed to have taken place 50,000-80,000 years ago. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitochondrial_Eve In human genetics, the Mitochondrial Eve (also mt-Eve, mt-MRCA) is the matrilineal most recent common ancestor (MRCA) of all living humans. In other words, she is defined as the most recent woman from whom all living humans descend in an unbroken line purely through their mothers and through the mothers of those mothers, back until all lines converge on one woman. Possible time of origin c. 100-230 kya[note 1][note 2] Possible place of origin East Africa Ancestor n/a Descendants Mitochondrial macro-haplogroups L0, L1, and L5 In terms of mitochondrial haplogroups, the mt-MRCA is situated at the divergence of macro-haplogroup L into L0 and L1-6. As of 2013, estimates on the age of this split ranged at around 150,000 years ago,[note 3] consistent with a date later than the speciation of Homo sapiens but earlier than the recent out-of-Africa dispersal.[4][1][5] en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macro-haplogroup_L_(mtDNA) it represents the most ancestral mitochondrial lineage of all currently living modern humans, also dubbed "Mitochondrial Eve". Time of origin 230 to 150 kya[1][2] Place of origin Eastern Africa[3] Descendants L0, L1-6 So just like the genome project already concluded and the book of Genesis creation story explained; the first and original humans of the earth were unmistakably BLACK like the earth! Christ is compared to having the IMAGE of Adam thus meaning Christ was a dark skin Afroasiatic black man! en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afro-textured_hair Afro-textured hair, or kinky hair is the natural hair texture of certain populations in Africa and the African diaspora. Despite its name, this hair texture is also found in some parts of Oceania and Southeast Asia. Each strand of this hair type grows in a tiny, angle-like helix shape. The overall effect is such that, compared to straight, wavy or curly hair,[1] afro-textured hair appears denser. English adjectives such as 👉"woolly"👈, "kinky", "nappy", or "spiralled" have been used [year needed] to describe natural afro-textured hair. Daniel 7:9 KJV [9] I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure 👉wool👈: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire. And to end your delusional attempt to whiten Christ; the Middle East was originally described as Ethiopia in the book of Genesis and archeology, denoting that it was completely inhabited by black people from the beginning of humanity. Genesis 2:13 KJV [13] And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia. www.etymonline.com/word/ethiop Ethiop (n.) late 14c., from Latin Æthiops "Ethiopian, negro," from Greek Aithiops, long supposed in popular etymology to be from aithein "to burn" + ōps "face" (compare aithops "fiery-looking," later "sunburned"). www.google.ca/amp/s/warlockasyluminternationalnews.com/2009/12/09/the-identity-of-the-sumerians-as-seen-in-ancient-art/amp/ Sir Henry Rawlinson concluded from this and other evidence that the first civilized inhabitants of Sumer and Akkad were immigrants from the African Ethiopia. John D. Baldwin, the American Orientalist, on the other hand, claims that since ancient Arabia was also known as Ethiopia, they could have just as well come from that country. So what you should truly understand is; I don’t deal with secondary sources that do not line up with scientific evidence, scripture and common sense-all of which religious culture is void of. The Hellenistic Romans, whom were one of the ethnic Gentile nations, were notorious liars and the biblical Hebrews recorded them as such. Jeremiah 16:19-20 KJV [19] O Lord, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit. [20] Shall a man make gods unto himself, and they are no gods? Don’t ask me to look-up your so-called Pilate source because I don’t waste my time with whitewashing black history.

I'm not sure I buy his argument. The reality is that we don't have ANY of the original texts. All the manuscripts we have are copies, even the DSS. The fallacy here that he is using, as do all proponents of textual criticism, is that because the source is older means it is the more accurate one. That is not a rational assumption. How do we KNOW that the DSS is more accurate than Masoretic? We really don't know. Frankly, given the context of Deut 32:8-9 "sons of Israel" could be a valid translation particularly if a future context was in scope. Keep in mind, Hebrew language does not use "tense" per se. Also, the subordinate clause in verse 9 seems to suggest that indeed future Israel is in scope. This would be consistent with Hebraic literary style of parallel lines of thought.

@Ree Bee do a study on what? Based on the original comment it appears that person did do studying on the topic they were referring to. Either way I agree with the core of the original comment, we have to be careful just assuming that something is right because it is older. For example the majority of our modern day translations is based off a different (different from the masoretic text) yet older version of the Bible. The NIV for example was based on the Alexandrian bible, which was altered by alexandrian Christians who had become cult like, removing verses and changing words to fit their belief system. Although it was a older document than the mesoretic text it was not a good work to base a translation on. That is why most Bibles today are not as reliable as the KJV, they are primarily based on the altered work of the alexandrians. I think Heiser makes a good argument for it to be Sons of God, but I can also see the other side of the argument. Either way just because it is older doesn’t necessarily make it more credible or more correct.

@philipatoz 4 жыл бұрын
No, "just because it is older doesn’t necessarily make it more credible or more correct." However, in general - and not necessarily in this case - it IS more LIKELY to be more accurate, because older simply places a copy closer in time to the original.

@@philipatoz I most definitely agree, but I was making the point that simply stating something is older doesn’t make it more reliable, hence the example I used of the alexandrian Bible. I understand there is credence for older documents and personally I believe the Septuagint is more reliable than the mesoretic. In this case I believe sons of God to be the correct words here, but that doesn’t change my point that simply older does not mean correct, which is mostly what Heiser put forward in this short video. Perhaps the full lecture would have more detail and portray his argument better, but from this short clip alone I would agree with the original comment that it’s not the best argument. But I would still agree with Heiser that it should be sons of God (angels).
