Correction: f1 drivers also drive vehicles that are team sponsors or ARE the team. Red bull team for example use honda as their f1 engine so it makes sense for team members to be given a Honda Civic. Every tiny detail in F1 is choreographed, and if a driver pulls up in the car, it isn't simply a hire car. Driving to a track in a certain car is the ultimate car endorsement... which is extremely valuable. I can bet that no f1 team has to pay for a hire car when there are auto and engine manufacturers who will give away their cars to drivers as advertisement...

@@arizonabuckeye Most likely. Its enough to see F1 driver driving a certain car to the track, suddenly raising its sales by few percents. These people aren't simply driving to the track to race, everything is part of the show. I do believe they are all given the choice how to arrive there, and if they don't care or don't want to drive we get occasions like Lando being driven around there and stuff like that. Also I think teams tend to rent cars from regular places so the drivers won't feel uncomfortable arriving with all the photographers waiting around for them. I was F1 driver, the last thing I would want is to answer questions straight away on my arrival to random journalists that waited there for me for like few hours. You keep that thing to conferences. I think its really cool however almost all of the drivers take a moment to take pictures with fans, even if they get flooded by them straight on arrival.
