All new mmos are designed on how much money the company can make at the expense of a good game and their shit, all the old mmo's were built to be good games and then they made loads of money

It just sucks that every single one of them think they know what players want, and they might be partially right, but there's something that's shit about the game and nobody ends up playing it. They would never be able to agree with eachother. I do wish it could happen though.

That's what MMO's are these days. They want mobile game profits but insist on keeping console/pc game pricing, gameplay and fees. Almost every mmo in the last 10 years could have removed leveling entirely and they would have been better for it because they weren't built with a fun journey in mind, they were built to promote the cash shop.

There is already an LotR mmo that is ridiculously faithful to the lore, with beautiful design and music, and that's LotRO. Still going strong, all these years later, and so accurate to the world that even the small fetch quests were clearly carefully crafted, down to which hobbit in the lore is actually related to which other. I can only imagine how hilarious shitty Amazon's mmo will be, if Rings of Power is any indication of quality lmao

Went back in the last few years to emulate a lot of games I missed out on. It just made me more sad that modern games are garbage. MMOs especially have gotten worse over time, not specifically the big ones but like all the ones that have shut down over the years.

I'm starting to think that MMOs were never been that good to begin with, looking back at the year WoW came out for example, there's all kinds of experimental games with insane gameplay that's somehow successful and then there's WoW with it's honest to god gameplay. I think a HUGE part of the love for MMOs came from a novelty of when it was released, could be your first MMO, could be the best looking/most polished MMO you've seen, or could simply be the first MMO you ever play with your friend. So now that all the novelty wears off, we are starting to see MMOs as a Video Games, the players are unsatisfied, and the devs are confused, trying to find and make a good Video Game out of an MMO, which it never really was to begin with. So if an MMO wants to reach the high that it was, they either have to somehow get the novelties, or... since we're in the modern era now with presumably better internet, they could just make an actually good video game now with the quality of a traditional video games, stop being cheap.

Archeage alpha was the most fun MMO I have ever played, even more than my first days in WoW. Then it launched...in real time you could see it die almost instantly. Was insane to see such an amazing game been stuffed with insane p2w on launch when you got to play it in its purest form.

agreed, archeage was probably the last MMO that ever got its hooks in me and feels like its the last that ever will. If a game has P2W, it's a bad, broken game. This is why old games are better. P2W didn't really exist in any major way until 2009, more so, 2012-2014. It's pointless saying that the core of the game is good, if it's actually unplayable and has no progression or value due to P2W and is filled with whales and addicts pouring endless dollars into it. This is often via loot box mechanics, which are pretty much illegal in my country. That tells you something...

Even as a kid I wasn’t hooked on the same game. I always played with my friends, jumping from mmo to mmo, never really getting into the endgame or joining guilds. So for me nothing really changed. When I get into a new game, I play it everyday over some weeks and then loose interest and move on or stop gaming for a while. The only type of games that keep me playing ”forever“ are competitive online games like League or Fifa. I mean sooner or later with every game you end up in some kind of gameplay loop and for mmos it’s just not that challenging or interesting to fight the same mobs over and over again

Even though I love mmorpgs. The best games to play are the ones where you sit down, play the game, enjoy it from the moment it starts until it ends. Metal Gear Solid series, Final Fantasy games, Soulslike games, God of War.. @@nathie1750 It's been in development hell for almost a decade now. By the time we can play that game, Star Citizen 2 probably will be released as well.

My first MMO was MU online which nobody knows. I think it was the best experience for me as far as MMO goes. But it will no longer work in today's standards. Having said that, im hard coping on riot mmo

The thing about all of these complexities, about how you have to do X, Y, and Z to perform well, they can all be fixed with a helpful community. Play the game without addons, and someone notices you're new, and starts offering help.

Or maybe stop punishing people for not going to min/maxing or nerfing things so much that everyone feels like they must min/max just to play their game. Unless that's the game design I guess, like Dark Souls but in a MMO I expect to play casually through the majority of the game, not have the game match my level to give me a challenge, i f I want a challenge I should have that option by visiting higher level areas or not and feeling overpowered in my casual basic build

You should just play Minecraft or animal crossing or make a shai in bdo or something. Instead of trying to ruin games for everybody else.

Several have tried, and they all pretty much fail becuase the Dark Souls combat and such just doesn't work well in a huge MMO capacity when you have to account for lag and the such.

I really wish they'd come out with an MMO for consoles. I have console and pc, played New World as a solo player and that why i stopped playing it, because I had no one to play it. I loved New World, it just sucked that I was the only person in my friend group that was hyped about it
