What the Heck Did They Do To Maeve? - Paladins Maeve Gameplay

Maeve has long been considered one of the most fun and balanced characters in all of Paladins. She hasn't received a single balance change in years, and her main playstyle of Cat Burglar has been unchanged for even longer! However, it turns out that not everyone thinks she's quite so balanced, and Maeve received many requests on the Desert Omens feedback poll for a nerf. While she certainly has a glaring problem in the form of Street Justice, the devs thought another thing needed to be changed sooner - her most popular talent Cat Burglar. Cat Burglar received a slight damage nerf and a major duration nerf in the Aico's Vault update, but it's actually rather pointless as AndrewChicken demonstrates in this video!

the problem is people never actually comment the characters that need nerfs/buffs. people comment the characters that either A.) they get railed by or B.) who annoys the shit outta them. when a community is that way and the devs call themselves “listening” to the community, we’ll always have this issue.

Oh, i gotta say people do comment on champions for buff and nerf suggestions. But the problem is evil mojo can't be bothered to take these into consideration since they rather just look at the flat win/pickrates on paper. And then they develop own "ideas" to balance these numbers.

It will never get bigger unfortunately because many ow players like me played it during its prime and when overwatch's content drought but now that ow is getting a lot of content like the new coboy bepop and porch colabe paladin has no Chance.but hey it was a decent game and I liked playing Maeve she was the only one who didn’t feel extremely clunky

I don’t exactly want them too look at the data either. I’ve seen it too much where devs look only at the data and try and make everything look 50/50 across the board but it turns into an absolute balance nightmare for the players. I think I prefer R6S’s approach with the data informed not data driven.

Maeve is the last character that i'd think would need any nerfs. There's so many more problematic characters and the "survey" they held on twitter was absolutely worthless as not everyone who plays paladins uses twitter and people who do probably aren't even playing that much so the people who did bother to participate are likely new players who don't play often and just get rolled by people who can use the characters well so they voted on them out of frustration. Pools like this should be held in-game or else we'll continue to get very questionable balance changes

Exactly what i was thinking. They first seem to check what champion needs "changes" according to the few players that actually voted and then make the decision to rather look at the numbers instead of detailed feedback. They then decide to nerf whats the most viable thing the champ has got and completely disregard the lackluster aspects as those aren't on the (viable/most used) list. They rather look on paper than on "real" player feedback.

I feel like at this point they're contempt in letting terminus be nothing but a syphon bot. Which is a shame, no other champion is a true melee yet he has one of the worst mobilities among tanks and the same hp as someone that has two hp bars. (atlas).

Street justice shouldn’t exist. Needs gone and movement heroes need slowed, I’ve heard Andrew complain of characters being hard to hit due to speed. Yes Maeve can be killed but it takes an age to do it unless you happen to have the right champion. I’ve filled out the forms before and devs do their own thing. Now remember there are more casual players than ranked so I presume they catered to that more.

But I won't agree since she's a Flank flanks need to be fast and have movement like that after all they basically assassins or glass cannon's great damage and speed but low health and defenses If you slow them or take away the entire movement then the problems worst. I just started playing and I absolutely hate playing against Maeve. It makes sense, I’m at a lower level of play, I get a lot of uncoordinated teams (and surely I’m guilty of poor coordination myself), and Maeve’s design is a tailor-made pubstomping kit designed to catch out players that aren’t in a good formation. I don’t think that means she’s balanced, though.

Maeve being "balanced" because other flanks (outside caspian) are either situational, hard to play or weak. Rogue gambit is the hardest talent to play Street justice may be easy to play, but you sacrifice mobility for execute Cat burglar is the safest talent to play, give extra damage and has card that reduce its CD. The nerf is not even that impactful 520 to 500 damage

Well unlike BHVR who takes years to actually do things on DBD, at least evil mojo do listen to the community for the most part, sure there are updates that are questionable like this one, but they do at least try and push and change things that the community ask for, unfortunately this is one of the things that ppl in the community are like wtf lol.

Caspian literely becomes unhittable with max speed for players with high ping because shots in him have no hitreg most of the time for my 140-160 ping connection. That so annoying and infuriating That I stop playing when I get that character too often in my opponents team... When I playing high mobility champ I also somehow have nohitreg... Like gliding with andro and shooting have nohitreg😢

Why are they listening to Andrew's community instead of Paladins community?! He and his viewers mains mostly OP champions, of course they don't want OP champions to be nerfed, and now Maeve will be buffed and everyone that mains non-meta champion will suffer. Maeve or Evie on casual games is almost always instant lose if someone don't know how to use the easiest talents, game is not fun to play when all you can do is dealing damage and missing a lot of shots and if you are able to deal enough damage to Maeve, she will still escape because of her crazy mobility. Maeve is not even a big problem because you can still hit her if you are lucky, Evie is the problem a champion with big damage burst, with big mobility and small cooldowns should not even exist.

Have you ever actually played Evie? She is not that difficult to counter lmao. Shalin counters her. Lian, Strix, Maeve, Vatu and maybe even Cassie and Willo counter her. Torvald counters her. Even if you don't have these characters you can still counter her if you predict where she is gonna teleport which is not that hard especially if you know how to play her. Furthermore, a champion who is this hard to play doesn't need to be nerfed.
