I learned another way of doing this that allows both feed dogs to pull the fabric through, if you have the option to reverse/flip your stitches. Select the stitch that sews on the left side of center. Next select your mirror image option. Your needle will move to the same position, but in the right side of center. Since learning this, I no longer fight to feed the fabric edge straight!

eBay has several original copies available! Now I need to go dig through my grandmothers books and see if she has this. I have several vintage sewing books but I don’t have this one.

I would like to know what kind of sewing machine you have please.

Please teach me how to manage the power of my machine. I either press too fast or so slow it hardly sews.
@dale34042 ай бұрын
Some machines have a speed control button or lever. Maybe you have that and it’s not clearly marked. Check your manual or go online for a manual.
@Karenderrick12 ай бұрын
@@dale3404 thank you. I will look. I have to admit that it is this way on both my machines.

@@Karenderrick1 If you don't have a speed lever, try practicing "driving" your machine. That's your "gas pedal" & you're gently pulling out of your driveway. Once on the "road" you'll press on the gas a bit more to get up to speed, but don't forget to slow down for curves. 😊 I've sewed for close to 60 years & occasionally I'll still step on the "gas" too hard, so don't sweat it. Another thing is I absolutely can't sew with shoes on because I don't get the same feel for my pedal. Try sewing barefoot to see if that helps.

@@cathyrowe594 those are great ideas. It never feels comfortable. It is awkward. I’ve know how to sew for years, but it is a hobby. Thank you!

What is an overcast stitch
@annieruth3242 ай бұрын
It’s a seam finishing stitch that may or may not come with your sewing machine. It is a handy option for those without a serger and those that want a more finished seam than what a zigzag provides.
