What the heck is Musiversal?

I signed up for the new web service Musiversal. Musiversal allows users to pay a monthly subscription and get access to sessions musicians to play on their tracks for the price of the subscription.

Great video, thanks so much, Matt.This is exciting and scary. I’m a loner singer/songwriter with dozens of originals, spend a lot of time with my basement recording studio doing my own stuff, as well as I can with my limited producing skills and home recording software, terrified of putting out a lot of money and finding out that my stuff is just not that good even though I think some of it is amazing. Musiversal sounds like a way to finally dip my toe into the murky waters of the music industry without taking a big financial risk. What do I do after I’ve recorded a song with professional musicians? How do I get it in front of people? How do I give it a fair chance at success?

Monthly salary for musicians. How much that is supposed to be is the question. One can sign up on the website as a session musician. If accepted the first run is only a 6 month contract. You'll need to have @20 hours a week scheduled (Mo-Fr) to record. If you have to take time off (vacation and such) you'd have to give them 2 months advanced notice. The client can book sessions with you up to 2 months in advanced. Cool that you can know how much work you'll have in the future, but you'll have no more flexibility. So, yes you'd be an employee for musiversal, but would that be a good thing? Especially, when you don't know how much your salary would be? Is it worth it?

Hi Evan! Our musicians are paid fixed salaries every month. They also build their own schedule, hence having flexibility to coordinate with other projects, all agreed in advance upon starting.

Totally depends on how what your subscription is. Mine is $99 a month, and I could get drums, bass, guitars, and a vocal for that.

@@Redwane-Music that completely depends on when you can get scheduled with Universal’s musicians. Usually they are booked out at least a week or 2.

Hi Daniel! We have now developped different tiers to cater to multiple needs :) Starting at $49, to $99 and $199 per month, all the way to annual plans.

I was producing and Mixing the song, but yes, they give you the master files to keep.

I wanted to be a submitter of drum tracks to this service, but they said "no longer accepting applications for your area" or something to that effect. It took them a LONG time to even reply to the application I submitted, where then they said they no longer needed submitters. Interesting that they are trying to recruit people to buy and/or sell this subscription service but at the same time are turning people away from the service. Doesn't sound like a company that has its act together yet for $99/month to me. Maybe they are great, but if they can't even get the admin side of this right, it seems that they would have a hard time actually delivering on the service itself.

Thought it sounded like a cool service from the perspective of someone who needed tracks done for them and from the creator's view as well, which is why I signed up to be a "provider". I would have like to participate in this, not just for the money, but also as a potential collaborator. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Thanks for the video, I didn't know there was a waitlist though. I've been wondering what the catch was since I first found these guys. You said there were like thousands of people ahead of you before your referrals?? It doesn't sound like I'll get in at all if I sign up. I was thinking of doing the $199 unlimited too. I'm trying to chat with support right now but the person doesn't even say a word and it's been like 20 minutes.
