3 was ok, but 4 is uhhh... For me 1 and 2 were superior, once 3 hit it was just weird and the controls were more sluggish like. Black and Head-On for the later titles were awesome. The TM for PS3 looks phenomenal, but the factions concept completely ruined the game. They have to stick to the gameplay and story of the past games, but use the boss battles from the PS3 game as well as online and they could create another masterpiece.

Movie makers have never captured a video game story's "fire" in the history of video game movies ..... They always manage to water it down and ruin them typically. Show me a director who is excited about TM and grew up playing it.... otherwise it'll be uninspiring drek from some overused Hollywood hack who can "make it work" with some anemic budget. Or blow all the money on CGI and have shitty scripts and actors. I'd love to see a good story version, but the historical stats aren't in favor of it. 🤞 here's hoping though.

Agree. It felt more battle royale instead of Twisted Metal, imo. Sony kinda forced Eat, Sleep, Play to give a single player story last minute and that's the main reason why I feel it felt rather rushed and scraped together. I think TM works best with a 50% online component and 50% single player component like Head On and Black. I'm hoping the new TM PS5 is similar to the 2 PS2 entries instead of the the PS3 version. I feel a staple of the series is one driver per car with their own unique special. TM PS3, while not a bad game, did feel kinda weird with having the Preacher driving Axel or almost every car having a Tri - Gun special. It took away a lot of the charm and familiarity of the 3D era games, imo.

Hoping this new TM isn't a mess like Saints Woke 2022 in terms of pandering, bugs, glitches, shit controls, etc. I think the game has been in development for a couple of years so I'm hoping it's not a broken mess. I understand one or two patches may be necessary here and there but this series, which is pretty much on life support at this point, can't afford a terrible launch. I think this is TM's last stand so it's gotta at least be decent. Not RDR2 phenomenal but decent. Our only other hope is remasters one day.

Obviously it wouldn't be Resident Evil or Mafia quality in terms of remastering but if it's still fairly decent I'd take some genuine TM remasters. I do agree tho that if they do attempt to make half assed attempts at TM remastering then don't bother... don't ruin the greatness of the originals, even if they are 20+ yrs old.

I'm aware Small Brawl wasn''t liked well, but without that, I would never have known about the franchise. I was one of the kids that avoided violence and was not allowed to play GTA and GTA 2, my parents got me a new game that was much more tame but had destructive capabilities. That was Small Brawl. After being able to play other TM titles, Small Brawl's RC cars gave me a fresh new perspective, with how maps are designed, fighting in a kitchen, a carnival a minigolf course, rat-type maps that I really enjoyed, and such a breathe of fresh air from the usual cities or wastelands. Small Brawl and Black will always be my two favorites.

Jaffe said some reasonable things about the possible Future of Twisted Metal (which, in fact, is connected to its past, at least to the 2012 Reboot): That TM most likely could effectively reach its audience via being an online-oriented multiplayer game, that’s how the 2012 game was originally supposed to be - “a 20$ PSN-only title with continuous support” (before the guys from Sony scrapped those plans in favor of a full-priced title with single-player part being crudely nailed to the side of the game). And you know, having played the multiplayer in the TM 2012, I can say, that I would’ve gladly play it in its original form even today (well, aside from game’s absolutely horrendous network stability, that part needs to be revisited indeed). But I guess we’ll see, what path the developers have chosen.

Id really prefer and actual story mode with multiple messed up characters driving though. But at this point ANYTHING from this series would be appreciated. A game I mean. TM is literally the OG battle royal game of pretty much all time. The fact they show this series no love is criminal! The fact they made the dumpster fire that was Destruction All Stars is also unforgivable. They should have spent time and effort developing a new Twisted Metal game for the ps5. That or finally do an HD remake of TM 1 & 2. Both those games deserve remakes at this point if Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro got them.

It's unlikely we'll get a new Twisted Metal. But if there was a new entry, here's what I would love to see happen: 1. Bring back all the vehicles from Twisted Metal 1, 2, Black, Head-On, Lost, and the 2012 reboot with their own respected drivers. The new vehicles from the 2012 game will get their own unique drivers. 2. Both offline and online multiplayer modes. Allow 4 player split-screen offline for the classic death match experience. Allow multiple players to join online for a battle royale experience. Also, make all the cars available from the start in both offline and online modes. 3. Include maps set in different countries such as Tokyo, New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Las Vegas, Australia, and Egypt. Also include unique maps such as the Prison from Black and the Carnival from Twisted Metal 4/Lost. Allow all parts of the map playable for both 4 player split screen and online. 4. Bring back customizations for the vehicles but add more creative accessories. 5. Bring back the game's original storymode/Arcade mode in which you pick a car and drive through a traditional arcade style ladder to face the middle boss and later the final boss in which after you beat, you get to see their ending (usually its pretty fucked up). 6. On that note, bring back in-game cutscenes from Black in which they explain each driver's backstory for entering the tournament. It would also be neat if the drivers cutscenes & ending were told in a different art style similar to the Netflix Science fiction horror anthology series, Love Death and Robots ❤☠️🤖 7. Bonus Features should include the documentary of the game's history, artwork behind the vehicles and their drivers, and emulated playable ports of the original Twisted Metal (1995), Twisted Metal 2: World Tour, Twisted Metal Black, and Twisted Metal Head-On (PS2 version). Twisted Metal has always been my favorite Playstation franchise ever since I got introduced to Twisted Metal Head-On on the PSP, and I've been itching for a new entry since the 2012 reboot. 🔥🤡🍦🚐

Twisted Metal 1 was what got me excited about the Playstation. Twisted Metal 2 was what I bought my PS1 with, along with Jet Moto, made by the same devs on the same engine. I WISH Jet Moto could get its own reboot.

Only ever played Twisted Metal 2 and 4 back in the day but they really need to remaster all the games on current gen cause they were sick as hell
