What the Hell Is Going On With Gucci?!

Gucci once was one of my favorite luxury brands of all time. These days, however, I don't know what to think about the trajectory of the brand. Do you think Gucci is still worth the price and hype?

Since tacky pop artists started to over wear gucci it lost its charm to me. It’s really tacky now.

Same why I look or think about this brand it reminds me of those wayy too over the top (in a tacky way) pop artists. If you sponsor artists make sure they’re not wearing ridiculous costumes.

i loved gucci since i was teenager and still very much do however i prefer the vintage pieces 90's early 2000's (tom ford era) a true classic never dies!

Alessandro Michele was head of handbag designs during the Tom Ford Gucci era (from 2902). What pieces did you specifically did you like?

While I think most people have some sort of a love-hate relationship with Alessandro Michele's Gucci, it is undeniable that Michele put Gucci on the map. Certainly, his aesthetics was not for everyone, but you could recognise it from a mile away. There was at least fun and colours, it's a niche that was not done better by anyone else in the luxury market. For Gucci, the quality was never that amazing, and still isn't, unless you order custom designs. Now that there's no design and fun, it's back to boring and not good quality, so it's lost all appeal for most people that were buying Gucci previously. Sure, they're wanting to do quiet luxury now, but the average consumer ain't going to Gucci to buy quiet luxury, there are other brands that have built their branding on quiet luxury, and Gucci isn't one of them.

I am fan of Gucci, but I shop carefully, buying only their Classic items, not trendy items. I had fun with Gucci during the Michele era. I am also liking the new quieter Sabato designs, and the direction it is going.

I don’t enjoy monogram prints for luxury brands or large logos with the name plastered in large font.

I love gucci. It's my first luxury bag. i love their classic pieces. Creativity should always be balanced with timeless pieces. Maybe it's just me, but i prefer classics over modern pieces 😅😅

I ❤ the Italian brands as well. Prada, Salvatore Ferragamo and, yes Gucci are my favorites. I have bags from all three brands. I’m also a little obsessed with Versace these days. These brands don’t play the games with customers that Chanel and Hermes do. I also find the customer service far superior to French brands.

It’s commercial and safe thus far. Nothing memorable or innovative. Very much following the trend of “quiet luxury” and trying to increase profits. A few strong pieces but otherwise not captivated yet.

Depends on the bag model/type! Gucci does still have an elegant style. And why does the headline written "It's A Mess" with a frowny looking actress. I don't think it's fair to the brand, any brand. I'm not a Gucci fan per se. But I like a fair and just analytics no matter how (good/bad/overpriced, etc,etc) the brand operates.

Loved Michele’s aesthetic and vision. He was an iconic bag designer under the Tom Ford era and as the creative director. But he’s not for everyone.

Overall, I think expectations on designers and creative directors today is intense in terms of constant shows and need to constantly achieve more profits each quarter, creativity doesn’t thrive like that. You need room to fail, to try and explore. That is freedom is becoming rarer and a similar issue is emerging in film and other mediums. I’m sure Gucci will capitalise from the whole quiet lux and more minimalist aesthetic. Lots of commercial pieces and will make sense in this era financially.

Gucci definitely has become lost and TACKY like LVHM brands. Its new creative designer is not aligned to American consumer tastes. He is absolute EUROTRASH. Tom Ford made Gucci sophisticated and classic and glamorous.
