What The Hell Is This?!

The first 3 episodes of the Mandalorian have been super fun. But episode 2 is still by far my favorite. Of course, we got to see the Mythosaur on the big screen but in my opinion, the coolest part of this episode was the strange cyborg creature found in the mines of Mandalore. But what actually is it? Now it could be something entirely new and not really significant. The new Lego set has named it the spider tank, meaning this is probably very likely. However, I've seen a few cool theories on what if could be. Some are claiming it could be a Jk-13 security droid. These droids were cyborgs in a way and used force sensitive eels to gain Jedi-like precognitive abilities. Others are saying it sort of resembles a basilisk war droid, or at the very least the parts from a basilisk war droid. These war Droids were the Mandalorians primary weapons during the old republic era so it would make sense if some were lying around in the ancient mines of Mandalore. However, my favourite and most outlandish theory is that we already know what, or more precisely who this cyborg crab is. Some have pointed to the fact that it has a similar aesthetic and even used some of the same sound effects as general grievous, with some even going so far as to claim it is general grievous himself. Considering the eye is entirely different to grievous, having a round pupil rather than the cat like slits grievous does, it would be a massive reach to make

I thought it was grievous up until the point the creature took Mando's dark saber and tossed it to the side. Grievous would never treat a lightsaber that unique like that.

Considering Grievous's cyborg body was cleaned and actually made into a full droid after his death in RoS And the fact that Grievous had reptilian slit pupils and not round pupils like this thing There's absolutely no way imo that it is, can or could be Grievous in any way

That’s legends, this is not legends. It could be grievous, if the eye is just a projection of course. It seems grievous’s eyes burnt when most of him did on Utapau. But I’m sure his brain could’ve survived, being more protected than any other part.

This isn’t Grievous, but they used similar, and sometimes the same, effects on their voices. It’s probably to imitate the sound of Grievous, enough for us to believe it’s a cyborg. But nothing else

I'm pretty sure it's an old prototype from the Dark Trooper project. Before Gideon made them entirely robotic they would remove people's brains, maybe they originally removed more that that.

A cool theory could be that it’s actually a Mandalorian who went insane after the Purge and after being severely injured, transformed himself into a cyborg to survive, living the rest of his days in solitude and madness, deep in the Mines of Mandalore.

I have a theory as to what it was that being what was left of tiber Saxon who could have survived the destruction of his isd I mean echo survived basically being blown up so I don’t see why it would be impossible for tiber Saxon to have survived

There is no slit pupils. What people see as slit pupils is just a secondary eyelid. it would make sense for during cyborgnification to remove eyelids.

That thing was a Rahkshi from Bionicle! I’m convinced someone on the show was a fan of Bionicle and made that thing as a reference. Spindly, staff wielding cyborg with spikes in its back? Plus it’s brain can detach from it’s armor and crawl away?? PLUS the sound design is so similar to the Rahkshi in the Bionicle Mask of Light movie! Bionicle confirmed in Star Wars universe?!
