In 1957 Ted McCarty drew a guitar on a piece of paper. Gibson turned that into the Theodore, as an homage to his legacy. When it was released fir $5000 people lost their minds. Lets see how it sounds and whether it was worth all of that!

Ahh the Theodore. Leo Scala made a cool one called the "Gibson Theodore Retroliner" I think it was Blue.

I saw it, I believe that's the only Theodore that's been made outside of the 318 of the original run. Def cool. I'm not really into the Scala guitar thing but they're def rad.

I was one of those people who keeps noticing The Theo’s on your rack. Like I said in the other comments, I really love it! Tulips were very en vogue at the time it was doodled. It’s very light and balanced. Has the Explorer headstock. Best yet, it sounds very deep and dark. What’s not to like?! Good choice, my man! And all three! P.S. Way to play Frère Jacques for a song demo! No way to get copyright strikes with that. Plus, you made my niece and nephew’s day when they caught it while they were playing! P.P.S. The end of the video was SO funny! I have a service dog myself, so he comes everywhere to help me . . . but I’d have the same reaction coming home if he were a a pet lol.

Ive always liked these, and never understood the hate they were getting. Guys will gladly pay more for a infinitely produced LP Junior reissue, but somehow a low production, special run selling for less is a joke? I dunno anymore There's a shop here with a black one, and another with the red, at some nice prices. If I dont go for the new Supreme, ill be getting one of these. Thanks!

I believe what you’re seeing in the finish is Gibsons VOS treatment that they put on their custom shop guitars to make a guitar seem older/vintage, it’s definitely not for everyone but there’s some information out there on how to remove it.
@TheNeuroticGuitarist
@TheNeuroticGuitarist 9 ай бұрын
Oscar, you're 100% right. My buddy mat at gibson explained it to me and that whoever cleaned it and had done so improperly and messed with the VOS. It's almost like a shoe polish apparently. I learned something 🤪

Great guitar. I wish Gibson USA would do one as a regular production model. I'd buy one. I don't even need the walnut strip. Just give me alder, P90s, a wraptail bridge, and a hockey stick headstock, and I'll be happy. I'll even accept a soft shell case. I don't want to get into the "tonewood debate", but I can hear the difference between alder and mahogany. The alder has more clarity.

It is snappy and sharp in the best if ways. It cuts right through a mix like tone city. I cannot tell you how much that guitar has impressed me with just how playable and awesome it sounds. Has the Gibson headstock with "Epiphone" silk screened in Gibson lettering. I put Seymour Duncan P90s in it - and it weighs right under 6 pounds. Sounds amazing, looks like shit but feels great slung over my shoulder :) (BTW - paid $200 for it and it included a Gibson/badged Epiphone chain saw case!). LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!!

😄 me too dude ! 🤘🏻I am a bit of a night owl as well , it’s my favourite time to play , nobody is calling , or wants you to do anything and for some reason all the best stuff seems to come into my mind after midnight. I live in an apartment now so it’s all about headphones at that hour. I kinda long for the days I lived on a ranch on the side of a mountain with a killer view of Lake Okanagan and the nearest neighbour was over a Kilometre away ! I would wail on the guitars at full volume on the Marshall until I passed out ! 😴 and then get up and make coffee while 1/2 dozen free range horses mowed my lawn ! 😄 it was like camping but with a house 🏡 such a cool place for someone like me. To bad I was just renting it for a few months, wish I owned it !

Love it. I've had to click off of Reverb and pull myself away from the keyboard a couple of times because I came this close to buying one. Too bad it's so maligned by the majority of the guitar community, because Gibson will probably never make a USA model or Epi model that's more affordable. I've toyed with the idea of having a Chinese knock off made with the name Alvin on the headstock. Love the XPL, too, but they're getting hard to find w/o a Kahler and in decent condition. Do you have a '65 Reverse Firebird transitional model? That would be up your alley. They have a reverse body with the non-reverse headstock. I'd love one of those, but they are big $$ these days.
