my guess in terms of why they didn’t change it is that Japanese players saw the origional American version of the Crash Bandicoot games and complained that their version got mutilated in localization.

Well yeah except not really. The 1st crash bandicoot theme was kept in Japan though the rest were change so they were probably looking at American's verison of the intro and like. Yeah we heard that. So then they kept it

Kirito Akemi V well the truth is before crash bandicoot is became a huge hit in worldwide in 1996, all japanese people saw a original Crash Bandicoot Model on Cover and they think this model looks too much cartoony so they decided to change this model in japan into a Cutie model with a tiny Mickey Mouse’s iris for making a right thing to sale that game until they get losing a lot of japanese interest

The only games where Crash's in-game model changes between versions are Crash Tag Team Racing and Crash Boom Bang. And the former lets you unlock the opposite model with a cheat code.

Was devo when I thought to change the game into JP and didn't hear this song! Hopefully someone might add Japanese to the original soundtracks mod that's already available. Bonus round music is different in the original JP editions too. Love this! !

Honestly, when I saw the Japanese version of the N-Sane Trilogy, I was a tad disappointed. I love the remake, but how they did it was kinda sad, especially at the menu where everything isn't moving, only just the whole logo at the same time, making it look pretty amateur.

The reason the Japanese song isn't there is simple: the game selection screen changes based on the song. And given the first game is the one the Vicarious Visions logo directly leads to, the music reflects that. The Japanese CB1 had the same title screen BGM as the rest of the world. That said, however, a case could be made about CB2 and CB3 having the Western themes...
