I am wearing a neck knife for years now. If I remember right, I started in 2012 and still go with a neck knife. In this video I will talk about why this is my way to go for my EDC and for most survival, bushcraft and outdoor activitie. Even in tactical situations I am using a neck knife.

So let me get this straight... You can't carry most one-handed locking folders because [reasons], BUT you can carry a much larger non--folding knife without an issue? Something about this kinda looks like whoever penned these laws doesn't understand people that carry knives, nor carries one themselves.

yeah like prety much every law that concerns "weaponizable" objects. restricting magazine capacities on guns doesnt really change the damage potential. People who make laws just have no freakin idea how violence works. i mean if i would want to attack someone with a knife i wuldnt need a tactical folder whatever (that looks dangerous) id just use a good kitchen knife. Often laws are just on how dangerous things look not about the actual danger(assault weapons ban in us for example)

Well, this law is based on a time when ist was common to have spring kinfes, assited knives, one ahnd folder etc on the Streets. A lot of fist fights ended bloody becouse it was easy to carry this knifes conceald and draw them quikly. Fixed Blades are difficult to hide, also the law makes a diffrence between tool and weapon. Butterflys, Springknifes are not allowed at all, assited and on hand Folder are only allowed to carry with Special Purpose. Fixed blades are regulated ass well, you can only carry them up to 12cm blade lengh (exaptions like forest work etc exists) and daggers, and knifes only for stabbing are considered a weapon and are not allowed to carry.

It's actually not the ability to be opened one handed that makes a knife "illegal" to carry, it can't be locking at the same time. So a locking, two-handed knife, or a non-locking one-handed knife are fine. That being said, I don't care and carry a Spyderco Resilience and a Leatherman Wave, both of which are not entirely legal to carry. I live in the countryside and almost no one cares. If I'm going to a bigger city I'll take something legal.

I do carry a neck knife at all times. I carry the Kizer Crocotool in S35VN bladesteel..for urban everyday carry. It's got some multitool capabilities aswell. The knife is a little over 11.5 cm in total length. The blade is exactly 50mm of cutting edge. Its perfect for urban everyday carry. I do have a Esee izula 440c that gets occasional carry but is more adaptable for the woods. I would carry the Esee izula more if I had a custom kydex sheath for it..that would make it print less under my t shirts. And less bulky.

Weapon laws dont restrict criminals, only law abiding people without malicious intent. That being said even with plenty of options of knife designs where I live and folders being much better quality than in the past I still prefer a fixed blade. How I wear it is dependent on what else I am wearing and where I'll be and what I'll be doing. Typically its belt clipped.

@@OreoBambino yup, just further evidence that weapon laws don't prevent crime they just make law abiding people more vulnerable. Criminals will find a way to commit crimes regardless (literally) of what the laws say. Best way to reduce crime is to have a population that is armed and knows how to use said arms with a mindset of personal responsibility. Sorry to hear its gotten worse where you are, be safe out there, keep your head up.

I made a kneck knife years ago i wear all the time. But i find having the handle facing up is better as you never have to worry about it falling out and you can discretely acessnit without pulling everything out of your shirt. But mines more like the eastern woodland indians style than a tactical knife.

Live in Sweden and I use an Victorinox super tinker or pioneer X as an EDC, mostly because of the light weight. When I go into the woods I use fixed blades. Have tried the Esee 3 as a neck knife and it´s a great choice as well, maybe a little overkill in the city, probably not OK with the law either even though we have more "liberal" knife laws in comparison with some part of Europe, would say we are on par with Germany in that regards.

Fckn huge! And it's obvious. My favourite neck knife design is CRKT Minimalist Wharncliffe. But the steel too soft and the sheath retention fails after a while. I lost mine. My next necker gotta have an extra retention mechanism, like that Spyderco necker. Try running around, climbing, fighting with a large heavy knife around ur neck without losing it. Regarding knife laws losing a knife can land u in serious trouble if it falls out in wrong place, found by police, a criminal, used in a crime, just like a firearm. Hence upsidedown knife sheath better be fool proof, especially in EUSSR. I use inside the waistband appendix carry with simple static line for those mid size EDC knives, those that are bit bigger than my usual necker. You get used to it, it's hidden under untucked shirt/jacket and very fast deployment

Pro tip, wear it around your neck and under one shoulder for example the left one for right handed people. by that you can carry it over the shirt because it is hidden under the jacket, it is easier to access, you could carry it over the plate carrier and won't risk trauma due to the fact that it's on the side and in addition you minimize the possibility of strangulation! let me know what you think of it!?

So, in Germany a knife with a one-handed open is regulated, but a fixed blade is not? Here in Portugal anything with assisted opening (butterfly, spring-loaded, jack-knife) is illegal. Besides that only knifes over 10cm blade length are forbidden except for valid justifiable uses. But pretty much having a fixed blade (8 or 9 cm) on you in the city will raise some eyebrows.
