CSX has done a great job on the cleanup. They are trying to rebuild and help too and I think they’ve done a fantastic job.

Absolutely. It looks so much better. And they needed that heavy equipment.

Can you update Bumpus cove area? It was a wash out down there. I spent 5 days there last summer. It was a beautiful stretch of the Nolichucki.

@@sandihauger320 yeah, I will do my best to get down that way soon. I was up that way a few weeks back and need to get down that way just to see how things are going 👍

I can never thank you enough Daniel for your time and effort in doing these videos which is what keeps me up to date with what's going on down there, when you were talking about the river, from what I would say is you standing where you were, you'd be in the river according to your son's photo if I remember correctly but either way they are doing what they can to remedy the situation so to speak, I kinda laughed when I saw the title and I literally had to remember how to spell damage, hahaha so not to bum you out, just funny, anyhow I hope you are well you did seem kinda getting out of breath there for a minute, of course I am thinking, oh lordy please don't let Dan be a smoker( sadly I had to grow up in a household that did, yukk), so I am so glad I don't but I can't tell others what to do, take care please and continue these amazing vid's

Thank you for documenting this. It's really hard to even fathom the amount of devastation. I have vacationed in this area over the last 3 years. It looks like nothing like it did before. I will be back in September 25.

It really is great to see the park cleaned up. I did not think it would be this far along, and yes it has a ways to go yet, but at least it feels like a park with a parking lot near the river. Read below you have been sick. Get well soon and take care of yourself! Great job with the video as usual!! CSX is doing a pretty good job with the railroad tracks too from other things I saw. Still going to take some time but at least it's a start!

Pretty amazing what’s going on at Poplar too! Three of the bridge spans are out of the river and undergoing repair, a road being built to the span far downstream to recover it! Things are shakin on the old Clinchfield! Never underestimate that mountain spirit!

Google earth may help you figuring out where the river was. Further down they have imagery from 22-Dac-24 after the flood and you can compare before and after. Much of the bank was stripped clear by the flood upstream of here and I would expect similar here. Thank you for the videos.

Thank you for the great video. It really pisses me off how everybody is so quick to help the fire victims down in L.A. And yet....you guy's get shit on. I'm very sorry this is happening. I guess we know where the politicians REAL priorities are. Hopefully everything will change in your guy's favor in a few more days.

They've cleaned it too much. trees should have remained for bank stability. There will be a lot of siltation for years until the bank is restored. Now's the time to do it while it's as bad as it can be.
@tomt954313 күн бұрын
Let me preface this by saying I’m retired railroad and a lifelong train lover, but CSX didn’t “clean” that area to be a Good Samaritan. They did it to get the rock that piled up there for their reconstruction work, or at least they did until they got their tit in the ringer over it and stopped! I applaud CSX for their massive work to reopen this line, and I can understand the “why” they did this. But the truth is the truth! The other truth is Mother Nature did much more damage to the gorge than rock picking could ever hope to do!

Yeah, the industrial park workers have been working almost 7 days a week. Definitely making headway slowly but surely on the cleanup there. Everyone missing in Unicoi County was found and accounted for. Not sure if they found all that were missing up river from Unicoi. Still quite a few missing overall in other areas. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch and comment
