Man oh man do I hate those cheap LED kits. Half the darn cars around here have them, and they just blind you on these dark Arkansas roads. Yeah, you can see from your car, but you're surrounded by people you just blinded. I'm sure that blinding oncoming traffic has zero downsides, so at least there's that.

I have had the vacuum articulating vise mounted on one corner of my bench for 3 years. The vacuum part never worked out of the box, but I never intended to use it as I had experience with that design and knew they were junk. The way to mount them is to fold the rubber skin back underneath the feet, drill appropriate size holes, and then gently drive small lag bolts into a mounting board. Then you move the entire assembly wherever you wish, using the board as your mounting apparatus instead of the weak aluminum base. I have 4 different types of vises mounted around my shop and this cheap articulating vise is probably the 2nd most used of the 4. The rubber jaw covers are fantastic for delicate jobs.

I redid my truck lights and my friend has redone several headlights with the sylvania kit. It was kinda tedious but it was easy, it does take a few hours for the new coating to cure after maybe half hour of wet sanding

I looked at buying either the Hercules or the Bauer heat gun... and I went with the Bauer. It's analog, but the Herc is *digital*... Yeah, I don't need the complication of a computer in a heat gun. Plus, I like the design of the Bauer better.

I bought a central machinery 7"x12" metal cutting horizontal bandsaw back in 2005. I think was $699. Other than the crappy green color it was pretty much identical to a Wilton that was around $1200. Other than a replacement belt, blade guide bearings I have not had any issues. I had just bought a new miller millermatic 251mig and I built a lot of utility trailers, car trailers and hog cookers. The bandsaw is as good and precise as was when new. Only thing is around 7-8 yrs ago they quit selling the blades for it. Portland saw brand and we're only $11-12. They still sell the saw. The color changed but blades the same size. I order the blades now online but are twice the price for a comparable brand. Why sell the saw and discontinue the friggin blades. Makes no sense. I spoke with a rep over the phone but all he said was discontinued and didn't know why. Oh well, sorry to rant! Have a good one!

The Warrior $15 grinder on sale for $10 is worth $8, and then only as a way to have a different wheel on several different ones. The $30 Bauer 7 amp grinder on sale for $20 is worth $40. I own both, and the quality difference between them is shocking.

I use the Pittsburg clamps around the farm. They are cheap, the hold or you use a second one...and they are lifetime. You can just best them and renew them.

I have the Icon Ratcheting wrenches in SAE and Metric, use them daily at work building GM crate motors into marine engines. Mine are not the anti slip. I also have the 30" cart in Orange(Mopar fan). fits my 90's era Craftsman 4 drawer toolbox and can open the bottom drawer fully.

New headlight can be a LOT more expensive than you’d believe, especially good DOT ones. The Mothers kit which you use with a drill, is pretty good but the key is to buy separate sandpaper several grits lower and gradually build up to the higher grits in the kit. I’ve restore several cars and they came out great, with patience and time.

I can't even tell you how much I like the orange handle hook/pick sets! I have more of them around the shop and in my trucks than I can count, as a matter of fact, I'm looking at an unopened set on my bench right now. I also know what you mean about that cheap screwdriver set. The rubber grips feel good in the hand UNTIL you try to actually apply some torque to them! Then, they slip easily. They're a great gift for the brother or in-law we all have that should never touch a tool though. The 12 ton press is good but, I have its 20 ton brother and, I swear that I recently saw it on sale for $190. Either one would do fine for most people though, especially a DIYer. Ahhh, those Quinn digital torque wrenches...I bought the 1/2" when they first came out and put it to use that day. I liked it so much that I bought the 3/8" a week or so later. I have several other torque wrenches but the Quinns are my go to. Right now, I need to buy another jack because the F-250 4x4 that I recently purchased doesn't have one. I have both an old school (short) Pittsburgh 3 ton and a Daytona 3 ton long/low. I'm debating on buying another Daytona long/low and keeping it in the shop (throwing the old Pittsburgh in the truck) or, buying the Pittsburgh low profile (not long reach) that's priced at $95 in the actual Black Friday (November 20-27) flyer that the cashier at my local store put in my bag last weekend. Either way, it'll only be used for changing a flat if I happen to have one on the road.

I think the tide has turned for HF Jacks, esp the aluminium ones. Mostly everybody I know with those are in some form of sketchy. Vs my 3.5 ton low pro jack of heaviness from Tractor Supply is skill going great. Not really bashing the HF ones so much, just been noticable the past couple years to not automatically trust them. Seems like slow go down is the big thing with them.

Those orange picks, they have been a mainstay of mine for a very long time. Are they the best NO. Do they look dumb compared to nice picks, yup 100%. Do I have enough of them and the bright orange sticks out that a pick is one of the tools I ALWAYS can find. I stock up on the razor knives at checkout too. Again not the best but I have enough and bright colored enough I can always find one, and trash it without worry

The Braun lights have been a disappointment. The recharging USB cord is so small, that if you put it in the wrong way once or twice, it destroys the female side on the light, and you may as well toss it.

You're not wrong about the item specific deals however with inside track you get them more often so you don't have to wait as long. It also helps with getting early access to parking lot sales where the big win there is open box items which will be gone or at least all the good ones will be gone and picked over if you have to wait. It also helps for the sales on hot items where you get early access because of limited inventory.

I have the Bauer saw mounted in a mini table as well, and it's been doing great with a good quality blade... I don't foresee myself unmounting it from that table either... In fact the saws are so reasonably priced, if I wanted a portable one, I'd probably just pick up a second one... The one thing I've been watching for though, is a coupon/sale on one of the regular Doyle vices... hopefully we'll see something in the near future.

Do you know how much the aluminum jack weighs? I couldn't find that info on the HF site. I have a Craftsman 3 ton floor jack and as I've gotten older it is just too dang heavy. I used to have a small aluminum jack that I used until it died. No I didn't race it and no it was NOT a HF jack. I would like to get another one but can't find this out. Yes I went to my store but they were out of them so I couldn't look at a box and didn't want to waste a worker's time with this. Thanks for all the great info.

what people do not know about the DAYTONA Floor Jacks, is they are Snap on. So people who say "Oh I would never buy a floor jack from Harbor Fright only Snap on" are in for a surprise. They are snap on's

While some are made in the same factory as Snap-On, they're only Snap-On if Snap-On says they are. Factories often make stuff for several brands, sometimes identical and sometimes not. Even when physically identical, you really can't say they are the other brand. One brand might do additional quality control after receiving stuff from the factory. Also, one brand might pay the factory to give them the ones that are perfectly made, and another brand might get basically just the seconds, whether the factory tells them that or not. I used to import thousands of an item under my own brand name, then sort them into firsts and seconds myself, just like Titleist golf balls where they might sell the most perfect ones to pro shops, maybe first-quality but not hand-picked ones in regular retail channels, and they sell seconds where they "X out" their brand name while it is still clearly visible. Maybe Snap-On and Daytona are identical in quality, or maybe one brand is the "X-out" of the other, or hand-picked perfect samples. You'd have to be there in the factory to see what testing/sorting they do, before they decide which ones get painted with which brand and shipped with each order. I know of brands where the seconds aren't identified as that in any way, and aren't labeled/packaged any differently, but the highest-quality samples get sold in Europe and the lowest-quality samples get sold in Asia.

It's 100% illegal to use jammers anywhere to block signals. The FCC would love to issue some fines to anyone jamming the radio waves. Imagine the lawsuits because some did needing medical help and you can't call 911 while in the store. One company was fined over $30 million just for selling them! It's illegal to import, own, advertise, sell or use such devices. It's likely just all the steel in the building and crappy cell service in the area that's the problem.
