I was excited about going to Japan and visiting Mega Don Quijote in Shibuya to do my big shopping. I love skincare products and have seen many products on TikTok, KZbin, and Instagram that I wanted to buy while in Asia. I figured out that I could find them all on Don Quijote. So, I did my main shopping at the Mega Don Quijote in Shibuya which has 7 floors with products. We went through each floor and ended up also buying an suitcase. Did the airport check your bags for the tax free goods when you left Japan? How do they know you didn't open any of it?

Hey, no they did not check it. However, whenever you get Tax Free it is registered on your passport, and they can do random checks.

@@adriana18989 If the bag is opened or products used, you will be required to pay consumption tax upon departure. General goods such as electronics, designer items, watches & jewelry do not need to be packed & may be used in Japan. Items must be taken out of Japan within 6 months of the date of entry.

@SiljeSLopez before bag check? Most of skin care and cosmetics I want to buy can't be in my carry on as it will be over the size/volume allowance.

@@annam83373 I had everything in my checked bag. I do believe they are randomly checking luggage after check inn. The safest is just to not open the bag before you level Japan :)

Yeah, it was weird since I could use the suitcase immediately, and chopstick, but everything else went into a sealed tax-free bag. They even asked me if I needed to use any of the products while in Japan since I then would have to pay full price for it.
