I like your nuanced stance. As you explained, mini cruisers are not always the best solution but it can be. Bought a Dingy a while ago to fill up distances to commute. Wasn't the best board to learn on because of its size and wheelbase, but it sure was small enough not to bother anyone in a crowded bus. I like my dinghy, but it's not a great beginner choice.

I just recently bought the 33' dropcat for the exact reasons you laid out in your other video and I am having a blast with it. It is really portable and turny, yet it is still really comfy and stable

Tbf, I bought a 9.75 skate deck with hollow trucks and bones atf. It goed like crazy and is portable and lightweight. If the roads are really bumpy just get higher risers and some thicker wheels. Has been my best purchase ever.

loaded coyote for sure, wheelbase is long enough to be comfortable and it’s portable enough for my commute to work everyday. i find my tugboat not as nimble so i converted that to my surfskate.
@Howtohuman1012 жыл бұрын
Bear trucks aren’t as nimble of flowy as other trucks but they make up for it in their build quality and their stability in high speeds I can get up to 26mph with the trucks as loose as I can get them without feeling unstable

The arbor zeppelin is incredibly good. I had the old bamboo version with gullwing sidewinders but the new ones have Paris trucks, either way they’re 32 inches long, light, and a lot of fun

Not the same category but, I still love my Freedive Reef. I'm in love with that thing. It's so fast. Adjusted the bushings and put the purple hawgs on it. Took it to NY for the broadwaybomb. A little heavy but the best all-around i've ever had.

I can also recommend the the Pantheon Pranayama or Ember, if you are looking for something portable to commute. These boards are awesome. The Landyachtz Drop Cat comes with 180mm trucks, which are much wider than the board. When i tried it, i was constantly kicking the wheels and had to replace the 1800mm trucks for 165mm trucks.

The loaded ballona is my dream board right now. Looks like the perfect in between to mini cruisers and longboards. And they look so good 👌🏻

@@michaelmann5105 how do you like it? Planning on ordering one (does it fit 70mm wheels like 4prez)
@michaelmann51052 жыл бұрын
@@chrissy.v I like it so far although this is the first time I've gotten a mini cruiser so it's still something I'm getting used to. It still has all of the normal downfalls of a mini cruiser in terms of comfort but is a bit wider with less concave so probably a bit less bad. The RKPs also make it feel more like a longboard in the way it carves, alot more surfy than a skateboard or typical cruiser. It was made for 65mm wheels though so I'm sure fitting 70s is a matter of how much you weigh and how tight ur trucks are. You could always also get risers if u really wanted to use the 70s. I'm pretty content with the 65mm love handles tho. Id say really tho something like a landyatchz tugboat or loaded coyote that is closer to being in-between a mini cruiser and longboard. The ballona is still a mini cruiser and it's biggest appeal is the portability while maybe being a bit more comfy than other minis

Loaded poke is my mini alternative of choice. Very light, comfortable size and concave and I run it with 72mm wheels on paris TKPs so it's low and easy to push. Personally though for commuting in the city incuding bus rides where u gotta carry your board, I like a mini cruiser on risers with 72mm wheels.

that Comet Cruiser is my dream board - i got over myself and decided to finally invest in a board that will fit all of my needs despite the price. It was actually your reviews that got me hooked on it. Im just hoping it'll arrive a little sooner than planned. That 10 month waiting period is honestly ridiculous and I can see how it would put people off from purchasing. I have a good feeling it'll be worth the wait and the price tag once i get it

I would say that medium length cruiser (wheelbase around 40cm, one kicktail) could be the better options to have good transportability without sacrificing too much riding confort. But with that said, I personally like the mini downhill boards better. I almost never use any kicktail (except to pick the board up) so if transportability is an issue, I'd pick my barouquette over a mini cruiser any day.
@LongboardingExplained2 жыл бұрын
true. if I had a small dh board with a kicktail, it would propbably be all I rode around. Especially if I only had the choice of riding one board

Truthfully all unless you are going for the smallest all mini cruisers AND CRUISERS are pointless, bad, money sinks. You can buy a standard deck, trucks, riser/shock pads, and put big wheels on it and have a proper trick ready deck with a better shape, better materials, and less weight.
