For your spices you definitely would find it useful to have a Lazy Susan. But I was able to see them easier by putting them on a spinning/ lasy Susan it looks like you can use about 2.

I just did my spice cabinets last weekend. I threw away 2 garbage bags of old spices. I use lazy Susan’s for them. I got every down from the top two shelves, I’m short. I organized what was left and I ended up with multiples of things. I could stock your pantry too!! I threw away all the baking stuff. All the sprinkles. So many memories in that cabinet. I cooked my family tons of recipes for my husband and children. Husband passed June of 2019. I actually doubled over in pain crying while I was doing this. So very emotional. But it’s done.

I am the only minimalist wannabe in my family; the kids took after their father and his hoarding ways, lol! Our attic is full of stuff from 30+ years of marriage and kids. A couple times a year I basically bribe the kids into decluttering their spaces otherwise it's a constant battle because it doesn't bother them 😝 The public spaces and the kitchen I declutter ruthlessly. Our compromise is I don't declutter his stuff but I will organize it if it's in "my" spaces (like grilling tools) or I will move it to "his" spaces (clutter dumps in the entry, bedroom, and garage). The old saying "if Mama can't find it it's really lost!" is true at my house for sure, lol!

I finally Decluttered some of my garden pots. I tossed the ones the plants came in. I couldn’t believe how many there were! I can’t yet get rid of the ones that I purchased. But I am going to put plants in the huge ones that I’ve just been sitting around. Either use them or get rid of them, I think! Thanks for the inspiration

If you keep staples like flour, rice, oats, etc in the freezer you eliminate the potential bug problem and they don't go rancid for a long time. Even spices can be stored in the freezer to extend their life. Still label and rotate regularly though!

Even if the house paint is all dried up and unusable, keep the small sample maybe spread on the lid as a sample to take to the supply store and often they can do an excellent color match just using their current technology.

During a multi day paining project I learned from a painter to wrap the rollers and brushes in plastic wrap (I use plastic grocery sacks) and storing them in the fridge short term or the freezer if I'm not getting back to it for a while. At the end of the project I throw the roller (keep the handle, lol) and brushes out. Saving the amount of water that would be used to clean them offsets my guilt over throwing them out. If it's a touch up I generally use artist brushes and those I do wash and save.

For mosquitoes - One thing which I found useful is to start taking a daily odourless garlic tablet, roughly one month before the mosquitoes arrive. May work for some people but not others. (Obviously, be sure that it is ok with any meds!)

I am a smoker & griller - there are weather proof tubs or shelves to place tools, chips and racks to buy to see if he wants to organize that area. Keeping wood pellets or chips in pretty plastic jars or recycle coffee cans. As for cooking or baking lazy susan's so he can access jars he uses 80% of the time. but in the back of cabinet get clear plastic bins to hold like items. Tall clear bins for smoking spices rubs. If you only have basket write spice on top with sharpie or labels. Buy fancy smoking rub containers for his magical rubs of delight. He may have beef, pork and chicken rubs . Go out buy clear refrigerator bins with the handle so he can store less used baking on top shelf( cake decorating supplies). There is so much wasted air space in the top half of the shelf so look at bines that can stack. Settle on container with a lid that will hold flour to stop making a mess and can be taken out to scoop out and then returned. Air tight for brown sugar, white sugar and powdered sugar. Make Husband's time cooking, baking and smoking or grilling super easy and organized. I think a cooking and smoking or grilling husband is very sexy and I'm envious. I would go all out to encourage this behavior. The birthday and Christmas present ideas are many but start with portable timer if he does not use cell phone. Instant read thermometer or probes. I bet he is a butterfly or bee so clear helps to see stuff so does not buy more of what he already has. Since you do not like to cook encourage your hero in the kitchen or smoker to keep up the good work. I can send you photos if you need them. Let him organize and do not toss his items but buy him the bins of different heights that fit all the way to the back on your deep cabinets so stuff does not go there to die.

Cupboards are so tricky for things like spices and condiments because you can only see the ones at the front. Sorting them into open shoeboxes, clear boxes or trays can really help - thus making the storage into 'drawers'. Label the lids if they aren't already so that when you pull it out you can see everything at a glance x

Great tips 🤗. I only buy spices and herbs in refill bags and tip them into glass jars. I bought glass jars (1€ each) big enough to take the whole refill bag (so no bits in bags left in cupboards). All the glasses are labeled on the lids and I have them standing vertically in a draw... It is my most organized and asthetically please place in my house😊... I look at it when feeling overwhelmed with other areas I am trying to declutter/organize. Your husband needs glass jars and containers for his cupboards.. Then it is so much easier to access. I cut my hair myself a few weeks back.. It had grown so long.. Now it is 5 inches shorter and just above my shoulders.. So quick to wash😁.

I saw here on KZbin to take a supplement Thiamine or B1… like an additional add on if taking a multi vitamin that has some in it. For some reason it keeps the bulk of skeeters away. They say it takes about 2 weeks to get into your “system “ fully…. Giving it a try and to be honest it’s kinda really working for me as O+ perso. Too. Not 💯 perfect but I’m not being hunted down as before and use all natural bug spray… the same brand I’ve been using for 5 years. So far some good news.

I’ve offered up different solutions but he prefers to keep everything like this in this cupboard. I don’t touch it precisely because I know this is his way of doing things. I’d love if he had easier access to things though, to make the process more enjoyable for him. Just yesterday he had to search for something he had, only to realise he was all out. It meant he had to change dinner plans at the last minute. Plus, he has pretty much all the cupboard space because he’s the one who enjoys cooking, whereas I don’t. 😂

Re: the spice cupboard... I have a basket for herbs and a basket for spices (it's actually a bathroom organiser🤣) so I can grab the herbs for pasta, or the spices for a curry in one go. I have a small "extras" box for ones I use less. The caddy system is awesome for low maintenance and ease. You could also have one for bbq/grilling or wherever you regularly grab the same handful of jars to cook a dish 💗

My husband is very very attractive to mosquitoes, they go into a frenzy over him and every bite comes up into a huge welt. In tropical Australian states and territories, Bushman is the preferred insect repellant. Green can is more environmental but brown can is stronger working. Trying to "declutter" and organise other people's stuff is not advisable. They should be left to decide their own systems, implemented at their own pace. Some people would VERY RIGHTLY view your type of "help" as patronising, controlling and even an invasion of their personal space. NB: I am not adverse to the concept of decluttering by itself but some people realise that there is no "one size fits all" approach which suits everyone.

The restrictions will be coming back because of the Delta variant. Sorry to drag everyone down, but a pandemic cannot disappear just like that… It is a bummer. I actually love cleaning my brushes, especially when I use my French “black soap”, I brought some of it from France. It smells so good that the cleaning part becomes a pleasure. To be a good artist or a good artisan, we must have good tools and taking care of them is a part of the process. When I was studying the home decor painting practice in Paris, we were learning how to clean our tools by an efficient way, especially as some brushes are very expensive. After awhile, it becomes natural to do it, and as I was saying, even a pleasure.
