I'm like your husband, music really helps me. It energises me and is enjoyable. I love these tips, thank you. I had wanted to post videos like these but never been brave enough. Yours are really likeable, relatable and down to earth. And the accent helps. Keep them coming 😊

I love having movies (that I know, love, and don't need to watch) playing that I listen to when I am doing sentimental and paper clutter. It makes the process more fun and helps.

Trash day is a motivator for me. Look over for expired old food and packaging. Pick up trash, sweep up floors, get the yard picked up and cat box cleared.

I’m also a lot more productive when I have background noise. A good portion of my time on KZbin is spent just listening while doing housework or working on craft projects. Thanks so much for this video, I really appreciate these tips! I’m the kind of person who really does need those small wins to keep me motivated.

Great tips! Like you, we moved quickly. I didn't know what I would and wouldn't use in our new home, so we brought everything. We'd been in the same home for 34 years and I had no decluttering skills. That was 2008. It only took me 12 years to start decluttering. I've been at it 9 months, and I'm making progress. It feels so good. I would advise anyone who is moving to declutter as much as possible beforehand. I wish I had known how to declutter before, but it's okay. I know how now, and I'm doing it.

Great video and I agree with taking the donations out of the house as quickly as possible! At one point I was so overwhelmed with all the stuff that needed to leave my house 😳🥺. I ended-up calling a company and had them pick-up all the recyclable stuff. They took care of all the recycling and proper disposal of electronics, paints etc. As for the big donations (furniture) Salvation Army came to pick them up! All in all it ended-up costing me 200 dollars (cad) but was so worth it to keep my sanity)!

Music helps me with most cleaning, but if it’s a Kon Mari situation, it needs to be super mellow. I can’t discern between how the music makes me feel and how the item makes me feel as easily.

Our local high school is having a book drive after Easter and they're looking for donations. I was ruthless tonight and selected nearly 2 dozen novels, soft and hard cover, to leave my collection. It wasn't easy but I figured that as most of them hadn't been re/read by me in years of sitting on the shelf, then they were 'good to go'!

I'm watching this trying to pack my daughter's room while she's at school. We're moving and only have less than three weeks. I'm going out of my mind. We've done so much already and it doesn't feel like it.

My gym has a sofa upstairs where people can wait for their training partner or for whatever reason - there is a bookshelf behind the sofa that was mostly empty, just a few bits of general storage. I asked it it would be ok to bring some books in and I offered to make a sign saying “library and book swap” - I brought in a bunch of books that I kind of still want but wouldn’t be devastated if they went, I could still read them, but other people can too, and other people have added books to the shelf as well. They have a basket of toiletries in the changing rooms in case anyone forgot anything- people bring stuff in, I took in a bunch of stuff that was too much for me to use or wasn’t to my taste, then I don’t have to bring everything with me and can try other products that other people brought in and vice versa. It’s great because it doesn’t have to be unopened bottles.I took in a tub of clean sanitary products as well - I hoarded more than I could use of everything and now I don’t need those anymore anyway so I just kept a few just in case or for guests, and put the rest in the changing rooms. Freecycle is handy (this is an online group where you can donate or receive items) it’s easier to get rid of things if someone else needs it or you know it’ll be used, people will come and collect it if that’s appropriate for you which can be easier than taking it somewhere, and it’s easier to throw something away if I’ve at least tried to find someone who can make use of it first. People on there tend to be a lot more reliable than on Facebook. I have a lot of craft stuff, and I donated a lot of the less expensive and/or that I’m less likely to use, to community groups.
