I understand that even though you may go back to the old software and it shows that you have all keys lost, it still won't work because they won't allow it to connect to the servers. I may be wrong but this is what I read about what Autel did.

@JOG6x no they have the serial number of the tool on them and it will not work for another tool or they will lock the other toool

The way I see it, it can work if you back up before you update. It is also wise to be able to back up in case something goes wrong with the update. Or it gets bricked.
