so i was told 2023 highlander can't be programmed with anyone but dealership since they changed the chips inside the fobs. Are you saying if I lost all my keys to my 2023, i can program to a new OEM key fob and should work?

I am running an issue when I program a new key to a 2017 prius, it starts the vehicle but the proximity function and lock/unlock feature are not working. Am I missing a step? The fob has a battery in it. I have both an autel im 608 and a vvdi2

The universal key is dictated by the machine you are using. Autel programmer, autel universal key and so forth.

km100 will program keys oem aft or universal under IMMO functions. it will only GENERARATE autel branded universal keys

i was trying to program another key fob for my 2021 toyota avalon but it won't with the km100 when it says put the old key to the push start it beeps once but when i put the new key it doesn't beep twice and it’s the same frequency as the oem key fob I have and the key fob I’m trying to program is aftermarket I just gave up lol

aftermarket are hit and miss on these, every aftermarket fob i have ordered for new toyotas does not work. same way you described. oem new or universal smart key should work fine

Or should I just got new oem because dealer wanted $220 for the key fob without programming and cutting the key but I can program it myself with the km100 and don’t need the emergency key cut I have the one from my oem key fob I lost as used oem key is $80 unlocked

@alivapereviews8057 worth a shot. Let me know if it works. I've ordered refurbished and they show up locked. So read your transponder when you get it and if it says locked then it won't work

When I do this same thing for a rav 4 it says incorrect key type. Use a Toyota universal key

Unfortenatley we do not do that many keys, so the upgrades are a bit to handle. KM100 no yearly upgrade fees and keep the IM508 as a scan tool (and skip upgrades), or go for the new IM508S?

Is there a chance of accidently erasing original key?

Only if you go through erase keys or all keys lost. Once that happens, that key is done for. Erase keys gives you a chance to keep any keys you want to work the vehicle, but you only get 30 seconds to hold it up to the start button.

you should be grateful that Toyota has a security system that wont allow you to just drive away with a vehicle in 5 minuets like a dodge. with enough practice and skill this is one of the easier jobs out there!
