With Petrol and Diesel price skyrocketed I will be exploring the option to get an Electric Vehicle for my next car. My current car is an SUV and I was looking into Tesla SUV model. The original model X looks good but would prefer a normal steering wheel after watching a videos on the pros and cons. I'm waiting for the Model Y which is said to be a cross over between Model 3 and Model X to come to Australia. Can't wait for Tom to made a video on the Y model when it arrives in Australia in the third quarter of this year.

pro tip: check if the trunklid is aligned properly (at least that the gap towards the bumper is even and not too small over the whole width of the car) i discovered today that my (automatic facelift) trunklid knocked the paint of itself and the bumper on the right side only. down to the metal. I even mentioned the uneveness at delivery but the tesla guy basically said: "well yeah but its not that bad. we can try and align it but its probably getting worse" so i ignored it... :/

Was thinking yesterday as I was driving, are we being extra strict and a bit overtly harsh on Tesla cars by measuring gaps and parts of it, with a small plastic ruler? When buying a Toyota or a Mazda or a Nissan or a Holden (all car brands have purchased before) don't ever remember running a fine comb tooth over those dinosaur-juice cars like we tend to with a Tesla 😁

Panels gaps are what people seem to harp on about with Teslas ... with my initial GF Shanghai reviews, I used the ruler to prove that the gaps were pretty consistent throughout. I feel that I’m at the point now where I can put the ruler away given the quality coming out of China 👍🙂🚗

@@LudicrousFeed yeah I think its something to do with the price a Tesla costs, so for some reason it (the whole car) gets put under a bigger microscope and gets much more criticized overall. It is definitely good to do a full check and go thru all the tick boxes on the sheet that was on one of your videos a few weeks ago, and also following the advice in this video. It made me laugh last night as I usually remember picking up the cars from the car dealership and giving it a quick look-over to make sure there are no major scratches and then you just get in and drive off so you can get away from the car sales-people and the extra-accessories-and-add-ons-lady at the dealership as quick as possible

Hi Tom, I hired a Tesla Model 3 through Evee and that led to my decision to purchase my own Model 3. You mentioned a five pin socket and adapter and said it would provide a reasonable charge rate. Would you have any specifics around this, such as amperage rate of that circuit as well as maximum charge rate via that maximum amperage circuit. The math is easy (P=IxE) but the specs around the limitations of adapters or any part of the connection set up (which is the bit that most people leave out) can be the critical missing piece of this charging puzzle. In my own evaluation of the type one that comes standard, I would not be able to take full advantage of the 5KW of solar coming off my roof if my Powerwall2 was already full, so a solution that gives me around 7KW would give me the ability to either run off the solar plus some of the solar battery for the fastest home charge for this set up, or I could use the app to limit the current to 5KW (or less) so as not to impact my Powerwall2 capacity, which I would be saving for my house at night. Any detail you could provide around this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The red one in your video looked good. The red model 3s I saw in the Brissy showroom all had an orange peel look in the paint. Is this a prob they have with the red only or do they all have orange peel paint?

Our Model 3 has been ceramic coated however the paint was quite good already pre-treatment. Generally speaking the paint quality from Shanghai gigafactory has been consistently better of late

Usually the UMC (Universal Mobile Connector) has two plugs: 10A and 15A The 10A plug has a standard sized earth pin which should fit into most household sockets. The 15A plug has a wider earth pin

Choice of repairer is pointless when Tesla is the only company that can repair a Tesla

Despite this, an insurer that does not give you choice may send you to another body shop that is further away from your desired location if their quote is cheaper. Anecdotally this has occurred

@@LudicrousFeed @zagan1 - you would 100% want choice of repairer so that you can take your car to a place (repairer) that is "ideally" Tesla approved in your city, if no choice repairer the insurer will just send the car to the cheapest bidder even if the repairer is not Tesla approved and probably have not done many previous Tesla body fixes if any at all

Also, a model 3 in my near future but concerns if one has a flat tyre out in the boonies during a road trip...what happens here with no spare? How does one address this concern?
