My car never misfired until I just had the spark plugs replaced by a mechanic. Then they said it was probably a cracked plug and they replaced all of them again and it still misfires and jerks at a stop. Then they said it was a vapor canister vent solenoid (even though this problem has never happened until the spark plugs were replaced) and I paid for that part. It is still misfiring and jerking at a stop and seems as if it stops jerking as much as the car warms up. Is there something they could have done to my car while installing spark plugs to cause this?

So would the same issues apply to a 2006 2.0T FSI engine? My 2006 Passat is misfiring badly on 301 & less so on 302. I swapped & verified ignition coils & installed new spark plugs (NGK vs. the Densos I had installed previously - a mere 4 months ago). The misfiring & shaking of the engine continues, though 301 seems to be the main code. I'd have to let the car idle for quite awhile before it triggers 302. I'm a financially-strapped single female learning DIY repairs thanks to KZbin & channels like yours! I can't afford Los Angeles mechanic rates, so I do as much as I can on my own. Would I now look for carbon build-up/fuel injector issues? Someone else suggested I get a compression test done on the troublesome cylinder(s). Help?

Hey thabk you for this video. My bmw had the same issue this video was very helpful and it answered my issue. My mechanic found the issue and its like what you said. One cylinder still misfiring after i replaced my coils and sparks was the fuel injection failure

I tried that also and it doesnt work. @Bakhtiyar Mustafa thats just me you are better off replacing it rather than trying to save it. If the car has a lotnof miles its better to replace it. I know 1 fuel injector is expensice but its better for you on theblong run. Jave a mechanic check it out trust me rather than playing guessing game have them check the FI

My 2012 fusion awd sport was misfiring last year. I was changing one coil at a time solving issue for a month or 2 then issue returned. So I changed them all with plugs and problem still persisted. So I unplugged battery resetting computer then started it right up. Ran rough for a couple a of minutes then it idled smoothly. So happy

Don't forget the coil connectors. Or injector connectors/wiring those parts need electricity, and if the connection is bad, it will simulate physical problems, when in actuality it's wiring issues.

I've got a P0301 Code and my car is running smoothly and has not entered limp mode. These 2.0 TSI motors are mysterious, but if its not having a rough idle, I think I just may need to clean my fuel injectors and get new plugs and coils just to be safe.

@@fearful.adventure try cleaning them 1st with fuel injector cleaner and a full tank of gas. It tool me running it over a 100 miles before it began running smoothly.

P.S. I also have new codes. All 4 cylinders are misfiring and random misfire codes. Is it the timing? And what piece controls that? I know it’s getting fuel cause you can hear the fuel pump go on on the on position. Plus when I tried starting it I hit the gas a few times. And when I took the plugs out afterwards, they were covered in gas! Please help? Need info badly!

change your plugs and wires you have to have a constant misfire to throw a code a random misfire won't throw a code on every computer

If you think about what EGR does it opens up and causes a lean mix of air, opening the EGR from an idle always causes a misfire. Go ahead and clean your mass airflow sensor as well you can get up to 15% better gas mileage just by cleaning it and at least 10 horsepower. That's without the computer throwing a code

I am fed up! I had my car "fixed"🙄10/7/2020, it was shaking while driving. Engine diagnostic--Light on, skipping, p0305 cylinder #5 misfire. They replaced #5 coil and spark plug, cleared codes and retest. Now today, I'm driving, and the engine light comes on. I take it back. @@GooberProductionz nope been to 3 euro mechanic every bill after diagnostic comes back over 3k. My motor still turns on and runs just limp mode. For 3k I can get another motor instead of them trying to figure out what’s wrong with it.

How about the misfires that only occur at idle? At idle, using both a generic scanner and a dealer-grade diagnostic scanner it shows 1-4 counts of misfires at random cylinders. I can also feel those little misfires. Already replaced all my ignition coils, already replaced spark plugs (replaced 3x within 5k km), fuel injectors cleaned and flow tested, compression tested all cylinders with good results, new motor and transmission mounts but still more than normal engine vibration (with little misfires every few minutes) at idle.

​@@pawanthota6126 Nope. I just accepted and learned to lived with it lol. I also purchased Fluidampr, it's a crankshaft pulley with built-in fluid damper. It helped a bit but still not as smooth as I want it to be.

I recently got an 07 VW Passat 2.0 TSI for what I considered a steal from a friend. Had it about 3 weeks and it's been... A headache. Got misfires on three cylinders even after I swapped the plugs and coil pack for cylinder 2. The scanner reads that it's too lean and that it needs a, quoting this directly, 'Intake Manifold Runner Position Sensor. Has a HUGE crack in the metal that holds the fender on. No passenger headlight but a bent-up fender for the same side. 2 dry rotted tires. And lastly, my personal favorite, the sunroof leaks into the floorboard of the car. With all that said, what would be the best approach to POSSIBLY fixing this on a seriously tight budget? The absolute best I got is to try some Cataclean, injector cleaner, and somehow find a possible vacuum leak...

I replaced me camshaft position sensor (was faulty already) Just changed the 2 ignition coils and spent US$133 to buy the two plugs and to get it installed + the scanning. I left and I stopped at the bank to withdraw money and when i start up again the check engine light is on and vehicle continues to misfire. Check crank position sensor. They are usually mounted down low, and even just the connector could potentially get damaged from a bad pothole strike. It’s all a stretch, but you said after hitting a pothole, and the crankshaft position sensor was the first thing I thought of. Also, simply check to make sure each connector is properly connected in the coils, plugs, and injectors.

Hi i have a 1995 CHEVY CAPRICE CLASSIC with 12k miles rebuild engine with new water pump, new distributor, new wires, new spark plugs, new coil, new igition module, new battery but keeps stalling put sea foam in gas tank and oil did maintenance cleaned the air intake filter. now the guy that sold it to me says it was a small block V8 4.3 but another friend of mine with a 1993 chevy SS said that it looked similar to lt1 that normally comes in that car. So I changed sparks, coils, and rockers on camshaft. Tried the tpm trick in the relay. Tried engine oil flush and injection cleaner. Basically tore up the entire engine. My 3.6 pentastar engine on Dodge caravan 2013 still starts then turns off after a few seconds, and getting random misfires. Anyone with any other ideas?

I replaced clutch disc in Renault megane 2010, now engine is misfiring, engine light is flashing when i go above 30mph. codes says that multiple misfire detected. I changed spark plugs and ignition coils as well, compression is fine in all the cylinders. I connected OBD scan tool, no codes related to mass air flow sensor, now mechanics are investigating my car that the fault is in fuel injectors/fuel pressure or anything with electrical wire harness that is connecting with spark plugs.... if over 100kMi, adjust valves. You really need to figure exactly if it is spark or gas related... it may well be cyl.3 wiring (coil or injectr) is defective! (leaky cylinder... rings or valves)

I have a cylinder 3 misfire on my Hyundai Elantra 2015… I interchanged working cylinder 1 coil with cylinder 3 but still getting cylinder 3 misfire then I tried interchanging working cylinder 1 injector with cylinder 3 injectors but that’s still didn’t fix the issue. At this point am sure it as nothing to do with coil or injectors and I also bought new set of spark plugs so it definitely not my spark plugs either. I need help on what to do next….. my car vibrate a little and the fuel consumption is sooooo bad. Error code associated here is p0303. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you

I have cylinder 2 and 3 misfiring so I changed the distributor, all 4 wires and plugs including all 4 injectors, and it's still misfiring.. I'm confused

Hi I really need help with my truck I have a 2016 Toyota Tacoma 3.5 liter v6 with about 52000 miles on it. I changed all my ignition coils because one was going bad and then the other so I decide to change all of them and spark plugs too... But I was off-roading and hauling ass when my check engine light came on got it tested at auto zone and they told me it was my ignition coil 3 and 5 when I already change my ignition coil. So what’s happening with my truck im so confuse ?

bad connectors or intermittent ground/power connection. The answer will be simple but it may require a LOT of resource to get it. Don't kill your catalytic converters with un-burned raw gas !

2015 Toyota Highlander AWD 3.5L 6V I changed all 6 spark plugs and all 6 ignition coils. I still have a misfire typically at around 1500 RPM. I have no idea what to do. I’ve already spent $500 Can you help me ?

See he says probably because he doesn't know for sure. A lot of cars burn up the injector driver in the computer.

i replaced all 8 spark plugs on a north star engine because I ha the code p0300 miss firing so all new plugs check with scanners cylinder 7 and 8 miss firing still but after warm up in about 3 to 4 minutes the miss fire goes away engine run fine . What would be the problem I think perhaps plugged injectors cyl 7 and 8 or damaged coil 7 an 8?? thank you for your rely.

I have a 2012 Audi A4 with a P0303 96,000 miles. We have changed the spark plugs, coil on cylinder 3, fuel injectors, did a carbon cleaning, walnut blasting, PCV valve and we are still getting a P0303 code. I have cleared the code and it stayed away while on a short drive and the car was perfect. I turned that car off and back on again 30 minutes later and back came the P0303. Any suggestions as to where to go next would be greatly appreciated.
