How do you get around, do you have to rent a car?

It all depends on where you stay. They rent bikes and little cars to drive along the beach. I personally would get a car to check out Destin and 30A and have more options for restaurants.

Can you shark fish from the beach?

I have watched people do it on 30A. Not so sure that it is allowed may need to check with county. They were doing catch and release.
