When I lived in Japan throughout the majority of last year, I loved Odaiba. Just something about the vibe there it's still Tokyo but like big and happy in a weird sense. Also I might just be obsessed with it because I'm a massive Digimon Fan but just chilling at the Tokyo Bay and looking over to the Fuji TV Building is so cool to me idk. I used to walk all the way from Toyosu Station to Big Sight and then over that nice walkway bridge towards the Gundam and from there to the bay. but I also do recommend going on the Yurikamome Line once and just enjoy the view :D

i love this series so far! it feels like the equivalent of tech tutorials that get right into it and is very efficient in its delivery of information as opposed to a really long one with lots of filler. i like the inclusion of things that aren't on the main tourist beat too as I've been to tokyo a few times and have already seen a lot of the big tourist attractions. thanks mudan!

Went to small worlds because of your recommendation last time and it was really cool. I also liked that the recommended route takes visitors through the builders' workspaces, which was also a nice look behind the scenes.

The life sized Unicorn Gundam statue transforms 4 times a day, every 2 hours at 11:00am, 13:00pm, 15:00pm & 17:00pm. In the evening it remains lit up in "Destroy Mode" transformed state and has music play every 30 minutes. I'm a big fan of the show so it was amazing to see in-person

There's also the Toyosu fish market in Odaiba. You can watch the tuna auction, and some nice restaurants to have a sushi breakfast.

I heard from local friends that it is overpriced and you should stick with Tsukiji Market, as it still has stores

There's a retro- Tokyo "Street" in the upper floor next to Joypolis that has a lot of nice things to check out from the Showa era. I miss some things Odaiba used to have, Toyota MegaWeb and Venus Fort (indoor, italian style shopping mall) were great places that sadly are gone, the immersive fort thing I think is where Venus Fort was.
@spyroclone15215 күн бұрын
This year, I had the pleasure and privilege of going to Odaiba to see the life-size unicorn gundam at the mall. It was truly a bucket list moment as a fellow gundam fan, lol. I also spent too much money on plastic afterwards, lol.

Odaiba is actually just one island, the are you highlighted is Odaiba, Ariake, Shinonome, and Toyosu. I really love the Wangan Area more than mainland Tokyo. Honorary mention: Immersive Fort used to be Venus Fort until VF closed in like 2022 (i think). The site for the kartin area also used to be a site for a ferris wheel, until it got dismantled in 2022.

Stayed in Odaiba last time I was in JP and I honestly recommend it. While it’s a bit of a travel to get into central Tokyo, it’s a pretty easy / direct train route, there’s a lot of really nice places around there to shop and eat and there isn’t so much of a tourist tax. Just a really pleasant and nice place to chill and as a massive Love Live Nijigasaki fan, I had a blast wondering around and finding all the locations from the games and show

Aquacity's entire 5th floor is filled with Ramen restaurants, so that's a neat place to check out for lunch too.

Two things to add: 1. Diver city has a lego store which is pretty cool. 2. If you want to do some anime pilgrimage, Odaiba is the setting in a bunch of things, two of which are Persona 3 and Love Live Nijigasaki.

Teamlabs is completely Instagram museum. Something interesting about Odaiba is that it has about 2 or 3 concert halls so its fairly common for music shows to take place there. There are also a few sport type stadiums. Finally It is extremely close to Tsukiji market so you can walk 1KM from there and get to Toyosu which is one of the last stations in the monorail.

Odaiba used to be home to Oedo Onsen which was a huge bath house. You put on a yukata had a very large indoor/outdoor area and it had a faux summer festival type setup in the non bath area. It unfortunately closed down, huge bummer. Though a new place opened up called Tokyo Toyosu Manyo club. It doesn't seem to be anywhere near as cool, but if you wanted a close tokyo onsen with a nice view of the bay it seems pretty good.

Tecnically TeamLab Planet is in Toyosu. Odaiba is south of it. Odaiba is a great place to go for entertainment and shopping. The shopping center is the closest I think to an American mall in Tokyo. I wish the giant hot spring didn't close down before I got to go. I heard it's a great place to relax.

Odaiba is great, been there twice and can confirm most of what Mudan said is true. Also Gundam. (Note: on my second trip I learned that when a new Gundam anime comes out along with their new Gunpla, the Gundam shop in the Diver City Mall will replicate some of the amazing scenes using Gunpla. What I saw was scenes from Witch from Mercury second season and it was amazing. Love the Ariel Gundam.)

I went to Odaiba for one day, and I just wanted to see the Big Sights building, the gundam, and go to the Gundam Base in Diver City. I took the train to Big Sights and walked for an hour to Diver City mall. Lovely water front, gorgeous (and huge) bridge filled with decorated spots celebrating different traditional stories. Wandered into an outdoor amphitheatre. And there were some GORGEOUS garden areas along the way too. If I had gone any time other than winter, it would've been SO nice All the indoor attractions are so tucked away that, while I saw other malls from Diver City, I just spent hours at Diver City alone wandering around. The Sanrio shop in Diver City is the one with the Gundam Hello Kitty Statue! Honestly, it's such a wide and vast place compared to the rest of the city. If you like being near the ocean, Odaiba and Yokohama were both amazing for it imo (said lovingly by someone who would probably shrivel and die if I were ever landlocked for too long)
