Just wanted to reply to everyone all in one place about my internship. For everyone asking how I got it, honestly I just emailed in with my CV! I totally understand where you're coming from in wanting to know how I got it when I'm not in/studying that industry but it's all about being proactive and if you really want a seemingly "cool" job you have to go out and get it yourself. straywoojin yes but holidays didn’t include the study leave period because that period was for exams, and a holiday is normally after exams. If you finished on the 15th you had approx 5 weeks before the 6-7 week summer begins so you still have 11/12 weeks overall. Fox Burton aww don’t worry me too! I’m supposed to pass almost everything apart from science (just under a pass ☹️) and maths, my worst subject! I got a 2 on my mock for it :( my worst memory associated with maths was in year 6 when we did a mock for SATs and I got pulled out of class only to be told I got 1/50 on the whole test and I was balling my eyes out! But good luck for the rest of results :) (I’m retaking maths too) oh and not to mention when in primary I tried to do maths homework and my mum would get very angry with me after explain the same thing multiple times and me still getting it wrong and she screamed at me and walked off and wouldn’t talk to me for rest of evening and when I tried to hide while she shouted at me I’d cry in the bathroom, dont worry she isn’t a bad person at all! She’s Ukrainian and I understand that’s just how she is coming from a relatively strict country I suppose. But she’s overall a lovely person and wouldn’t swap her for anyone else’s mum :) she understands my difficulty in maths ☺️

Hi can you help me? I want to go in 6th form but do I need GCSE ? You know I am from France so I don't know if I can
@larajan82403 жыл бұрын
@@MG-lv5ij You don’t need GCSE’s to go to sixth form in the UK when you come from abroad :) In the Philippines we didn’t have GCSE equivalents but we had report cards so I used those when I was applying. My advice is that you research what sixth form you want to go to and email them asking what their requirements are if you don’t have GCSEs. They’ll most likely ask if you can provide any documents that have your grades in all your subjects, and then they will compare it to what the GCSE standards are. Don’t worry, you will definitely be allowed to go to sixth form but the application process is just a tiny bit more complicated :)

@@larajan8240 Thank you so much !!! You're helping me a lot. I have another question. I heard international student can't go in public school and only in private (that mean we need to pay), is that true ? Also, do you know a good 6th form college ?
@larajan82403 жыл бұрын
@@MG-lv5ij hmm, I’m not sure about international students because I have British citizenship so I didn’t need to pay. I know in my sixth form (which is public) there are lots of international students there, but I think they had to pay a fee. But again, It might be a good idea to email the sixth form college to ask how their system works :) I go to Hills Road Sixth Form College in Cambridge, which accepts international students even if it is public. It’s the best state school in the UK so I recommend it! Also Peter Symonds College in Winchester too

Can you do one for year 10 to year 11
@strawberrysara61306 жыл бұрын
sutharshini Thileepan as a year 11 who just finished, all i would say is just make sure to top up your stationary as well as investing in a folder or two or a notepad to put revision notes in. the afterschool revision classes for me started around late september so perhaps make a schedule for which ones you'd like to go to for the week. id advise going to most or all of them and then jotting down notes and putting them aside for april/may time for you to look back on. im the most easily stressed person ever yet i can say that the exams after a certain point werent stressful, it was more like 'i want to get revision/ the exam over and done with' and you realise that if you stress then it just wastes time, so it forces you to chill out. you dont need to stay cooped up in your room and its really refreshing to go outside to the park or hang out with your friends, even on a saturday during the exams are going on. you'd feel much more relaxed and want to get into revising full swing. id also advise going to a local library with friends who have a drive to do well as they wont distract you and will encourage you to do well. i found that youtube videos were the BEST way to revise. i struggled revising with a book or a check list so much and i was told about primrose kittens videos of 'biology aqa paper 1 in one hour' and it was so helpful, it narrowed down to all the information you actually needed. what i did was watch it 2-3 times or listen with headphones and then watch it once again with a lower playback speed and jot down notes, i personally found that writing full sentences are a big no as you lose focus whilst reading it. so keeping things short and sweet might help a lot. id listen a lot more in class, maybe sit away from those who might distract you so you can understand everything and not miss out on information. ALWAYS ASK when you dont understand something, especially if the teacher explains it in a way thats difficult to understand. my teacher explained anti bodies in such a peculiar way that in my biology paper 1 exam i literally wrote about the immune system of a potato on a question about a potato plant with a virus. for core subjects id recommend doing a few past papers WITH the teacher, where (s)he tells you how to answer questions, which i found a big help as i knew how to phrase myself in a question. for maths, we did a 'talking mock' which is also just our teacher going through all of the questions of a past paper and telling us how to answer which was the biggest help and paper 2 and 3 was quite similar to the past papers and i used all the techniques given to me on how to answer them. id go through your notes every once in a while as i forgot everything that i had learned beginning of the year. what we were advised to do was find the aqa syllabus online (everything you need to know for the exam papers) early in the year and go over it to know exactly everything. all of this might sound like a lot of work but it was a breeze. work SMARTER, not HARDER - i used to spend 8 hours going through a textbook that i borrowed from the school, which i absorbed nothing from. the videos i personally found to be the biggest help, it took about 2 hours to write down notes. i also made sure i got at least 8 hours of sleep, i know it sounds tempting revising overnight but i learned the hard way in the year 10 mocks that this is NOT the way to go. i went through everything and got 4s, as well as involuntarily dozing off in my RE exam. make sure you eat properly also, i ate as much as i could so that my brain would power through the day, especially exam time. i also recommend buying a multi pack of chocolate, (ESPECIALLY snickers bars, they're literally cheap protein bars) to eat before the exam as the sugar will help you perform a little bit better during the exam and let your pen slide across the page. of course its good to be a little bit stressed as it improves memory, but not too much (you might learn about this lol) your adrenal glands produce adrenaline (fight or flight) which makes blood mainly divert from brain to your limbs, which we obviously dont need for the exam. dont be too worried if you forget stationary as the examiners have everything there, all you have to do is ask. dont forget water during the exam as its good for you, and is good to help you cool down if you are stressing. im sorry this is so long! this is just everything i can think of that helped in year 11. dont forget to have fun as its your last year in secondary school, good luck for year 11.

Going into sixth form and I’m planning on doing politics, economics, English literature and philosphy/ethics. But I’ve been told to not bother with 4 and drop one, has anyone got any advice? xxx
@NooStenningVideos4 жыл бұрын
Depending on which of those you like least go with that, or I would say philosophy/ethics is something you could do in your spare time rather than an a level in it x

Don’t worry! You don’t need to do all these, just some ideas- and 3 weeks is enough to do some- good luck for your results :)

I've just finished Year 12, and I can say that you really don't need to do anything in the summer holiday between Years 11 and 12. First of all, you can get work experience later in the year or next summer (if you even need it; for many people it's completely unnecessary). Also, the "bridging" material that you could learn is pointless as you will start everything from scratch in Year 12 anyway; no one will assume that you have any prior knowledge (and as an example, in chemistry they don't even assume any GCSE knowledge other than a basic understanding of the periodic table, atoms, balancing equations etc.). It just doesn't make sense that they would test you on something that they've not yet taught, and the new material (at least at the beginning of the year) really isn't that difficult, and much easier to learn when explained by a teacher anyway. If you read about it over the summer, it just means that you'll be bored in class for the first few weeks of Sixth Form...

+Smathlax I guess we have different opinions then 💁🏻maybe for some people it isn't necessary but I believe if you want to achieve on a variety of levels it's always good to be doing at least something productive Work experience is LIFE experience and that's always good, especially when you have so many weeks, doing something productive is great. -as I mentioned it's also potentially money which many people need Our tests were to see if we could keep up with the knowledge, below a certain % and they asked us to reconsider the a level which was actually very useful for some people who picked the wrong thing. Having a head start gives you confidence in what you're doing and a chance to adjust to other aspects of sixth form without worrying about the work right away. I wouldn't have made a video if I didn't think it was worth doing something, it most definitely is 👍

I really don’t know what to do because I would like to do maths, economics and psychology for a levels however I cannot due to the blocks at my sixth form. So I am very unsure what to do! I would love to do a language (German) however I am worried t is going to be impossible and I am going to fail 😩 anyone have any advice??
@aneesaiqbal23086 жыл бұрын
Jenny H what ever your you enjoy most if you have done german before it will be fine but just choose subjects you will like x
@caoimhem11766 жыл бұрын
I had a problem with my blocks as well, I just told the school and they’re trying to find solutions- like taking one of your subjects at another school in your area but the other two at your original school.

From personal experience from being the other side of alevels, maybe picking business and economics together. They are very similar, well in my case we’re at AS (dropped economics at end of year 12 due to teachers being shit basically) and many of the concepts overlap. You’ll be hitting two birds with one stone when revising. Maths is different as I was the last year to be on the modules course. Psychology I can’t talk about but has maths elements. So the subjects you’ve chosen do tie into one another - business and economics has a large maths element to it

Look at local sixty forms. I live 5 mins away from my school and sixth form but they don't have the lessons in the blocks that mean I can take my chosen subjects so I'm traveling to a nearby town.
